This is a very underrated campground I really enjoyed. Ended up booking here bc I couldn't get reservations elsewhere and have to say that I really enjoyed it. The campsites seemed to be larger in Lower Gray's than Upper Gray's and overall I preferred the lower section of this campground much more. Many campsites have access to the creek and trees along the creek provide plenty of shade. It was also pleasant that this campground is apparently not that popular, so it was practically empty when I went in July. The mountains provided a nice backdrop and you had stunning views into the valley. Really nice also for stargazing at night time as you have an open sky with not much light pollution in this area.

The bathrooms were extra clean and our minor sites issue was handled quick and easy with great communication.

Some of the cleanest bathrooms I have ever used! Amazing. Only thing that was surprising was the size of the sites; I think slightly better photos on the reservation site would be helpful, most sites are fairly small just be aware. Very pretty treed area across from the creek at site 9.

Nice campground, vault toilets were clean and did not smell. Biting flies were annoying. But generally quiet, can hear the stream and a little shade in our site. I think the idea was to put the tent in the more grassy area down the hill/steps from our site but we did not want to deal with that.

The campsite was clean and the pit toilets well maintained. The camphosts were very helpful, efficient and welcoming. It is a beautiful spot to set up a base camp and explore the Owens Valley. We did two different day hikes from Onion Valley. The scenery and views were fantastic. We also went to Bristlecone Ancient Forest, Horseshoe Meadow and Whitney Portals. The camp was quiet at night and the stars were beautiful.

Very noisy site with the wind and creek it was hardly peaceful. Site was totally exposed to all walking past. Bear locker was broken and did not latch or lock without Jerry-riggging a stopper. People used the campsite like a trailhead. Lots of mice/rats in the trees and bushes surrounding the site.

Nice campground with large sites but minimal parking. Very windy when we were there. Good proximity to Independence and onion valley trailheads.

Nice spot, some shade during the day, level area for a tent. Clean restrooms and water are a short distance away. Beware of the Coulter pine that is growing in the site, the cones are huge and may fall during strong winds. The campground itself is scenic and quiet as it is right at the base of the mountains. It is starting to show years of wear, note that some of the other sites have no room or level spots for tents, and the table/bear box/fire pit combo is located in random or inconvenient spots, so do some research. I will definitely return in the future to #18 for another stay.

Returned to the place I camped as a child and it's just as I remember it! Beautiful, clean, great views, and not too crowded.

A great campsite, good camp hosts, nice location. Only issue is that the creek is usually flowing too much to catch many fish

The lower greys meadow campground needs attention. It has not been maintained for many years and is full of potholes. Majority of the sites are not usable. The camping fees are higher than usual and should be applied to maintaining that grounds.

Nice break from the real world. Very limited cell service. Being a Monday, very few people. Camped right next to the river and enjoyed every second of it.

Great campsite and only a short way to Onion valley trailhead. We had an amazing day hike

Love this campsite. Amazing views of the valley floor. Always a nice breeze in the afternoon. Very clean bathrooms. The smell of sage around the campsite is intoxicating. The sound of the stream lulls you to sleep each evening.

Great campground. Stunning views. This particular site does not have shade. Easily fixed with a pop-up though. Bring toe downs for that afternoon breeze!

Stayed at campsite 33. Beautiful scenery. Great spot and location. Close to the creek. My only very small issue was that there was some trash left at the site but not a big deal. Also, if you have AT&T dont expect to have signal. Other than that I had a great time. Bathrooms were clean and fellow campers were friendly.

This campground is in a great location with awesome views of the local mountains! The campground itself is in desperate need of repair and many of the sites are missing asphalt!

The sites next to the stream are beautiful, especially site 51 in Lower Grays Meadow. Glenn's Tacqueria in Independence had wonderful food and friendly service. Mount Whitney is nearby and worth the trip.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
