Very nice and secluded, especially at the 012 site. Cleanest toilets ever!

Beautiful campground, just a few miles west of Independence, CA. We stayed in the Upper campground. The toilets are very clean, and the campsites are well maintained with bear lockers. Our campsite was next to a beautiful creek...the sound was so relaxing, we slept great. We caught some trout...delicious! We want to return.

Stayed for four nights. Most of the time the rest of campground was empty. All of the roads in the campground should be repaved.

We had great hopes, but those died when we got to the campground. We reserved months and months ago site 12 next to the creek. When we got there a sign (hand written and scribbled out numbers) told us site 12 was flooded out and we had been moved to site 32. Site 32 was no where near the stream and our name was no where to be found. I walked around and found our actual site was now 34. It was larger, but 3 whole spindly trees did not make up for the shaded spot we reserved. We understand flooding, our issue was they moved us to a spot nowhere comparable. Site 10 had to move and they were placed in another shaded spot near the creek at site 6. Had we been moved to a comparable spot, no issues. Since we were in the desert spot in the middle and it just wouldnt cool down like the spots near the trees, we left on day two of our 4 day stay. The fall will be beautiful there, but forget summer unless you get a guaranteed spot by the creek! There are NO hosts this summer and Vista Management left no contact info in case if issues. Just beware the flooding in 12 & 10 will be going on for a while so if you reserved, dont expect to stay in those spots. They are currently swamps!

The campground is at a decent location. Be aware that some sites are fully shaded and some not at all shaded—makes a huge difference on a hot sunny day.

Management was literally nowhere to be seen. The campground host was gone. Our reserved site was closed off for flooding that was not occurring. The crummy site we’d been reassigned to was incorrectly numbered, twice. The bathroom door latch didn’t work properly. Need I go on?

None of the problems were horrible, but the list was long.

Nice and clean campground. Bathrooms were also well cared for.

Beautiful, secluded campsite next to running spring. Definitely off the grid with weak cell service.

It's a great spot, especially the reserved spots in the trees. I was right next to the stream and the calming sound put me to sleep like a baby! Easy to get to and on the way to Onion Valley. Stayed here one night to get some level of acclimation before hiking into the Sierras.
