The campsite was beautiful and overall I loved the experience. However, for bear country, there is only one bear box for the entire campground. Also the trash bins were so full the last couple days of our stay, they could not close. These are bear proof, which does not work when they are full and not emptied regularly. Otherwise, the campsite and ground were amazing!

With the caveat that this is a no-frills campground, it is a pleasant place to stay. The river made pleasant background noise for sleeping. The road and campsite parking are all gravel, but well graded, only the sidewalk to the bathroom is hard surface (concrete). Campsite #2 is wedged into a triangle between #1 & #3 and is a little on the small side, but very level and worked well for me as a solo camper sleeping in pick-up camper. The tent pad is right up against site #3.

Very beautiful site right on the water. Close to trails as well. No firewood on site please remember to grab some in Maryville on the way, otherwise it's not a quick turnaround!

I have lived just over the mountain from Abrams Creek Campground my whole life. I camped there as a kid. 2 weekends ago I took my wife and 2 kids. There was drinking which is not allowed in the park and the group of college guys camping right next to us were saying f**k, over and over again. I had booked two nights at campsite 2, and had to pack up and leave the first night. I didn't even try to get reimbursed because of what a hassle it would likely have been. This place is so beautiful, but has gone down hill as far as being monitored by the park service. I would not recommend to anyone.

I've been having problems with individuals that use a "Dream Device" to broadcast 3D art movies into my brain while I'm sleeping. This group attacked my sleep over 5 times in two nights at this campground. It appears that this campground has those annoying "Bozo Lights" near the restroom. The "Lights" might be the source of the broadcast, HOWEVER, this is cutting edge harassment technology THEREFORE some "spooks" from the NSA might want to investigate these crimes.Also, toilets filthy, water tastes funky, bailed out early...

I would NOT recommend our campsite. The light from the bathroom was shinning in our tent all night, and there is very little privacy as it was very close to the path to the bathrooms. You also will not have creek access (unless you want to walk though someone else's campsite). Having said that, the campground itself is well-taken care of, and if you can snag a creekside campsite you will have a much better experience.

Beautiful ,small, campground along the river. Road is in rough shape getting to the campground.

A very special place and the campsites are very quiet, level and clean. My only issue was the noise coming from the trailhead parking lot up the road. I gather some hikers come in the night before and nap in the parking lot so they can get an early start on the 12 mile hike early in the morning. Of course, I was there at the start of Memorial Day weekend, so peace and quiet are hard to come by anywhere. The hike to the falls is beautiful!

Gorgeous campground. Be aware that the last mile on Abrams Creek Rd is a very narrow. We were towing a small trailer and came across a large pickup hauling a boat, and it took us almost 30 minutes to be able to go through. Any way, it was worth it.

I'm not sure how anyone knows that campsites are reserved, but we did not have an issue. Beautiful location, clean restrooms. I was surprised to see the ranger drive through and not address the fires left unattended and the messy, bear attracting campsites. Being from Colorado, we are sensitive to both. Road is a bit rough and one lane.

Dont waste your money reserving a space; itll be occupied once you get there. No rangers on site. Terrible road getting to the campgroundno where to pull off to let oncoming traffic through. Be sure to have recovery gear with you and a buddy to help winch you out if you do get pushed off the road, because you wont have cell reception to call for a tow.

Love this campground. Clean bathrooms, creek access right off of campsite, water spout for dishes or drinking, access to hiking trails at the back of the campground, most of the campsites are spacious. Theyre a little close, but everyone was awesome and the kids made lots of friends the whole weekend. Cant wait to come back!

Waste of time. Says it's in SMNP, but it's at least 90 minutes away. Sites are small, on top of each other, and impossible to determine- especially sites 1-4. Bathroom is spooky and open to the wildlife (snakes, rats, skunks etc.).

The campground itself is pretty nice. The creek is clear and beautiful. The campsites are close together but were never fully occupied. You don't have to deal with RVs or early morning garbage trucks like the bigger campgrounds. A ranger emptied the trash by hand every morning. The skies are dark and stars easy to see.However, this campground is pretty remote and it feels like it. The final road into the site is a one-lane road with few places to pull over for oncoming traffic. A couple of trips had a tree limb over the road that needed to be moved. On one occasion, dogs from a nearby house were on the road. If you need something, you're looking at a 30 minute trip to Maryville on winding (but well maintained) roads. Going to other parts of the park required a twisty road climb to Look Rock to get to the Foothills Parkway. We never saw the ranger station occupied, and there was no way to check in and record what site we were staying at.

We only had the pleasure to camp here for two days. We loved the campsite and wanted to stay longer but there were not more spots available. We stayed on site number 1 and it was great . Very spacious and with the creek right there. We didnt have a host and there is not a place to buy wood so buy it before. Drinking and potable water available at site and also flushable toilets.

Abrams Creek Campground was beautiful and peaceful. The sound of the rushing river made it feel like we were alone even with other campers on either side of us. I would recommend bringing in (certified) firewood on your way in, the closest place to get wood is quite the drive and wasnt great quality. Really, I would recommend bringing everything you need on the first pass in. Going into town to grab something you may have forgotten entails windy one-lane roads and at least half an hour. Same goes for phone service. If you want a semi-remote front country campsite that really makes you feel like youre in the woods, this is a great place!!

Such a lovely little campground! Quiet and secluded. Our site was so close to the water and was perfect!

This is a great campground! We stayed for four nights and it was beautiful and peaceful. The bathrooms were clean and water was close by, there was even a sink to wash your dishes. The nearby trails were nice, nothing crazy but a good day hike and it was great being so close to the river. However, no cell service which was expected but the camp was super far from everything else which we didn't realize.

Overall a quiet place with clean restrooms. Enjoyed the sound of the creek and that its away from the more crowded campgrounds. Seems well maintained. One thing I would keep an eye out for if you decide to hike the Abrams Creek Trail is to keep an eye out for tics! We only hiked about 2 miles in then decided to turn around and come back. (Since the scenery is the same) Found 2 tics on each of us, and when getting back to the campsite found one on my stomach. This was with layers and consciously checking and only staying on the trail. Other than that little scare, we really enjoyed our experience.

Excellent site right on the water. Tent pads are level and the driveways are suitable for a single car. Everyone at the site was quiet and kept to themselves. It was a very nice experience that I would do again.

Please clean up after yourself. Every little single thing. Really upsetting to see trash everywhere and then spend an hour picking up before doing anything else. Appreciate the beauty and clean it up!!!!

This campground is definitely a hidden gem! It does take longer to get to than the other campgrounds in the park but it is very quiet and secluded. Our site was quite literally right next to Abrams Creek. The campground is very peaceful and we heard many owls calling at dusk.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
