The campground itself is quite beautiful, with plenty of trees & natural surroundings that make for a peaceful setting. The highlight of our stay was actually the check-in processstaff were extremely friendly & informative. The woman who helped us was very thorough in going over park rules & even gave us a heads-up about a bear sighting earlier that morning. That level of service was genuinely appreciated. That said, my overall experience was disappointing, and here's why:Site #41 - This site was a major letdown. Its on a noticeable slope, which made pitching three tents extremely difficult & uncomfortable. I had called days in advance specifically to ask whether the site was level enough for tents & was assured that it was. That clearly wasnt the case. Parking was also inconvenientyou have to park your car and then walk down a narrow path to reach the actual site. Another big issue was the noise: we could hear cars passing from the nearby road, including the constant honking of big rig truck horns. This really took away from the "getaway in nature" experience. On the plus side, the site did offer a good amount of privacy.Bathrooms - The nearest bathroom was quite far from our site. The condition of the facilities left a lot to be desiredthere were toilet papers on the floor, a strong odor, no lighting inside the stalls, and an overall lack of cleanliness. The walk back to the site is uphill, which could be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues.Noise - Our immediate area was quiet for most of the night. One nearby site did get a bit loud after 10 p.m., but it didnt last long. The real issue was another site we passed on the way to the bathroomthey had extremely loud music, what sounded like a DJ, & a large group of people. It was more of a party than a camping experience. While Im thankful they werent right next to us, it felt inconsiderate and disruptive to the overall environment.

What a quiet, beautiful campground. Clean bathrooms and Very friendly caretakers. They did say there are bears and provide bear safe food storage bins. We saw a bobcat on one of our hikes and enjoyed a day at Lake Gregory.

Love the campground. Wish we could have stayed longer, but reservations are hard to get. Wish they used a lottery system

Loved this site. It was low key & private but spacey. Woke up to bear prints around my tent in the am! which was scary but also cool and expected. This entire campground is well manicured compared to a lot of other campgrounds in socal. you can tell the employees really care for the grounds- bushes are not overgrown, restrooms are clean and monitored, and the sites are freshened up prior to each stay. no evidence of trash anywhere either! love

I was impressed with the maintenance and cleanliness of this campground. Even though campsites are close together, they are large and are situated in a way that makes you feel secluded. The Camp Hosts are very friendly and take pride in maintaining the grounds. There is a great trail for hiking or running that starts and ends on the grounds. When the campsite descriptions says to bring levelers for an RV, bring levelers! You will need them.

Campsite #76: not the most private option, as it sits slightly elevated above the campground road and is in full view of passing cars and campers. That said, it's conveniently located -- right next to a potable water spigot and within a short walking distance to two restrooms on either side. As others note, the site is on a slope. We didn't find it too troublesome, though I did find myself having slid down my sleeping mat by a few inches throughout the night. There are tent spots that say mostly shaded throughout the day, but the picnic bench receives direct sunlight from late morning until around 6:30PM. The fire ring is shaded a bit earlier, around 5PM, but don't count on enjoying a shaded dinner at the picnic table until the sun dips lower in the evening. (for reference, we stayed here in early July) #74 next door is significantly larger and sits right beside a restroom, making it a popular spot for families and larger groups. During our stay, there were two different large groups occupying that site -- so be prepared for higher chance of some noise and activity from your neighbors. Overall, I think #76 is better suited as an auxiliary site to #74 for a large combined group, rather than a standalone option for smaller parties. Campsite #40: offers much more privacy. Tucked between large trees and hedges, it feels nicely secluded - and with a bit of strategic parking at the spur, you can fully screen the site from view of the campground road. Water spigot is close by but route to bathrooms is more circuitous. If you're part of a larger group with multiple tents, keep in mind that only one will benefit from some shade during the day - the more spacious tent area is fully exposed to the sun for much of the day. The picnic table is largely shaded. Great campsite for smaller parties. Overall - attentive staff, clean facilities. Some road noise audible from hwy. As with many campgrounds, your enjoyment can be a bit of a gamble depending on neighbors.

Campsite #83. The campground is immaculate, bathrooms are nearby, and hot showers are free. This site has lots of trees around and is very spacious. I have a small trailer, Wolf Pup 16bhs (21ft length), and it fits in the spot just fine. There are dumpsters not too far away from most campsites. The staff drives around constantly and is very friendly and attentive. There are a few well-maintained trails inside the campground. Overall, very happy with our site and stay during the 4th of July weekend. I added this campground to the list of places to come back.

Awesome campsite with plenty of trees for shade. Service staff were super friendly and Restrooms and showers were clean. Spot 80 was conveniently close to the restroom and still far enough for privacy. Had one flat area good for a one tent setup but another spot was smaller and not 100% flat.

I love this campground. It is the most beautiful campground i've ever seen. We've been coming here for 25 years and never been disappointed with this alpine experience. The camp hosts were so friendly and helpful. They kept the restrooms and free showers very clean. My only advice is that if you have a trailer, try to get an electrical site. We were happy just staying in this beautiful campground. No need to go anywhere else!

I've been coming to Dogwood with my family for 9 straight summers. The staff is always super helpful, friendly and doesn't intrude on your camping time. The location is always pristinely clean and (for the most part) quiet. It's a great place to enjoy fresh air and relax. Love the convenience and beauty of the campgrounds!

Dogwood is a great camping site for the entire family. Great hiking routes, clean restrooms, hot/cold showers, potable water available, very friendly staff, pet friendly, large camping grounds, lots of trees, very quiet once quiet hours starts. All the things you are looking for to have a great camping vacation can be found in Dogwood considering it is just about 30 minutes away from the city. Hard to find a place like this close to home. Will definitely will be back next year.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
