Great campground and great site. Stayed in middle of July and had 40F (about 5C) early morning. Also mountain climate could be unpredictable - we had 20mph(30kmph) winds for three days straight. Sites are protected by tall trees so wind was tolerable at the sites, but trees were very noisy at night. Camp host is great, camp is very family friendly - all quiet after 9pm. Taking one star off because campground is about 300yds from the main road, walking distance to Starbucks and Grocery Outlet, so for some it might be not real camping experience. Definitely would come again!

The location is good and the camp hosts were friendly and helpful. The campsites are a little close together and there were some very loud people one of the nights we were there but overall we had a good experience.

Nice campsite very near the main street with cell service. Trudy from the office is very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, we had a misunderstanding with the campground hosts, some tweaker guy and his wife. The guy demanded cash for a spot we reserved over the phone late at night and the dude was super aggressive and inappropriate. Got up in my face and almost got himself seriously injured. We left the campground two days early to avoid that type of energy. When anyone rolls up on your campsite, they need to understand that they're entering your domicile and should behave respectfully and aggressive behavior could be recognized as a threat to you and your family's personal safety. Especially from someone who looks like they're an belligerent drug user, in the dark, in the woods asking for cash to get a fix.

This site was perfect for easy access to downtown. We were very worried about how noisy it would be since the campsite is so close to the road, but we couldnt hear the road from our site! We had plenty of space for our 8-man tent, and we enjoyed how shady it was.

Hostess was awesome. Keep her coming back

So the location was excellent. We were right at the edge of town with shopping, groceries, restaurants, gas etc. basically right down the street. Every time we wanted to go kayaking or hiking by a lake it was only a 15 minute drive. That part of it was excellent. The campground was lovely and each site was pretty spacious, but there were a few deal breakers for me. Number one was the bright lights from the Ranger station that shined so brightly you couldnt even see the stars at night. Another thing that you only noticed at night was a strange humming sound coming from somewhere that never stopped. Even with earplugs, I could hear it, and it was very bothersome. And the road noise was loud, but thats a give-and-take because I was happy to be close to civilization. Our camp hosts were great. They gave us lots of ideas on where to kayak and hike and we were never disappointed with their advice.Overall, I would go again because the surrounding area was so spectacular, but I would be very choosy as to which campsite I got.

New Shady Creek Campground is located conveniently just by the Town of Mammoth Lakes and Stores & Restaurants are in walking distance. The grounds and spots are nice and well maintained. Toilets were always very clean and the Hosts Ray and Stacey were very nice and helpful in any way imaginable. We will come back next year for sure.

Site 82 was quiet, with shade and a nice flat area for tent

Our Ray was awesome! He was very helpful and kind. We had the best time here. Our site was amazing with lots of shade. Although you are in close proximity to town; you feel like you are miles away.

Great place to stay. Flush toilets; water; trash cans very close. Short drive to Twin Lakes and other lakes to fish in AM. Internet available. Camp Hosts were nice.

The New Shady Rest campground is a well run area. The hosts are knowledgeable and helpful. It is situated in a fantastic spot with robust set of bicycle paths connecting the campground to the nearby town as well as scenic sites. It is a mix of trailers, RVs and tests. Everybody was respectful of each other. The facilities are kept very clean. Make sure to practice proper protection for squirrel and marmots intrusion into vehicle compartments like any other area in the Sierras. While there are bears in the area, the bear practices by the campers has mostly eliminated any problems (bear boxes for food).

Among the best things about camping here are two of the camp hosts. I'll call them "Doug's Parents", the owners of the dog Doug. They were helpful, pleasant and very likable.

Very easy check-in. Close to Mammoth Mountain--loved the sight-seeing gondola adventure. Hiked around Convict Lake. Quiet campground.

Fairly well maintained campground. Would recommend having the firepits dug out from time to time.

Great camp site, but there was some city noise that could be heard at night
@KennethR295800 · Camped on Jun 19, 2025 at Campsite #151
It literally took me an hour backing into the spot. I had to unhook the trailer three times and reconnect to get the right angle because there was a tree stump on one corner of the driveway and a tree on the other side of the driveway and the only way to get into the spot was to back in at a perfect 90 angle, which is impossible. The Campos is aware of the problem and said they been wanting to take the stump out. This is not a travel trailer. . The Camp host is aware of the problem and said they been wanting to take the stump out. This is not an travel trailer spot when I booked the camp spot, it said it would fit my travel trailer, which would be true if I brought it in by helicopter and dropped it on the cement pad. Somebody really needs to look at the spots and either fix them or designate them as tent camping. This was horrible and ruined my whole trip

I love this campground. We were in site 127 in a 21 RV. It was level enough. It was close to rest room which was clean. Its close to the visitor center and walking distance to town. I hope to stay here again some time.

We really enjoyed our stay at New Shady Rest Campground. The site was spacious and well maintained. We did travel with our friends who also had sites close to ours which made it nice. The only downside was the lack of truly flat space to place our tent. We slept on a slight incline which caused my to slide down on his cot throughout the night. The trees around camp made it nice in the morning and afternoon. The bike trail adjacent to the campground was great and allowed us to ride quickly to where we wanted to go. The campground was right as you came into Mammoth which also helped. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay at New Shady Rest Campground.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
