Good campground but I almost got hit by a falling pine cone, which probably weights around 1-2 pounds. Some people might get hurt if they are unlucky.

The New Shady Rest Campground was perfect for a night in Mammoth Lakes. Easy to access the campground and easy to navigate to our campsite. Pretty surroundings with lots of trees and a nice paved walking/biking path was close by.

All was good. End of season camping trip, had some weather, did a lot of fly fishing w/ some success. We liked our campsite.

Meh... I have been here before but this visit was so so. They have cut down a lot of the trees that used to be the shade in this camp site. Not such a shady rest this time. Camp host was a little militant for my liking. I am a lone camper with a small set up who makes no noise. He was a little over the top for my tastes. I will be trying out other locations in the future. Camp is clean. Bathrooms are clean. If you have an RV this would work well for you. If you didn't bring your own shade, maybe check out other sites.

Nice campground in beautiful Mammoth Lakes with lots of trees. Easy access from the main road, well marked camp sites and a paved walking/biking path. RV dump site available as you enter/exit the campground.

Campsite 97 was too small for our 21' trailer and pick up. We barely wedged the truck in! Our best day was riding the shuttle from the ski resort to Devils Postpile and up to Reds Meadow. The views were amazing and the forest so wonderful. The lakes were beautiful too, however they were very busy.

Great hosts. Beautiful, well kept campround, close to town but in the forest. Great base camp. The lost star goes to the large group that needs to learn camp etiquette.

Wonderful campground and hosts. Mammoth is one of our favorite camping spots and this campground has great access to bike trails and the visitor enter plus all town amenities.

Spacious campsite. Ray and Sandy were fabulous hosts. When I needed help with something, they went above and beyond.

It's a nice campground with clean bathrooms and really nice and helpful camp hosts. No mosquitoes.It's a good place to stay if you want to be IN Mammoth. Some things we didn't think were so great: the water spigots were mostly in other people's campsites. Do not reserve one of those if you can help it. While there were lots of pine trees, you were generally about 30 ft from other sites. Not on top of each other but a bit closer than I expected. Luckily, we were surrounded by tent campers.would have been noisy probably if we had RVs. Also, be aware that some sites a better than others for tents. We could barely fit our 3 person tent in our site (159) and it has enough of an incline that we slid down the sleeping pad. Finally, the campsite is IN Mammoth. So there was quite a bit of road noise and we could hear a band playing into the night. On the other hand, you could grab food or groceries easily.

The campground is very shady (true to it's name). We had some difficulty with keeping our batteries charged with just our solar panels. The bathrooms did not have soap or paper towels which was frustrating, it seems this would be a minimum service to offer. The hosts where friendly and helpful with area information and keeping the campground neat and clean.

Great, clean campground. Close to free trolly pick up making it easy to travel into the village and around town. Trails to disk golf and park right from the campsite.

Clean, beautiful, wonderfully located. It's quiet and has full access to town with easy transit, rentals and summer fun. Me and my two teens had a great time.

We actually booked 14 campsites for a multi generational family gathering for the 2nd year in a row. We had the back end of a loop mostly to ourselves. It worked out beautifully. Fun was had by all. There were both tent and trailer campers. A group went to Bodie days. Another group did two hikes in Yosemite. Others went to beach in June Lake . There were hikes in and around Mammoth Lakes. We enjoyed great Grilling. The younger set were mountain biking and playing games in camp. Everyone is looking forward to next years get together.

Great campground and great site. Stayed in middle of July and had 40F (about 5C) early morning. Also mountain climate could be unpredictable - we had 20mph(30kmph) winds for three days straight. Sites are protected by tall trees so wind was tolerable at the sites, but trees were very noisy at night. Camp host is great, camp is very family friendly - all quiet after 9pm. Taking one star off because campground is about 300yds from the main road, walking distance to Starbucks and Grocery Outlet, so for some it might be not real camping experience. Definitely would come again!

When we made reservations, our site was only one of 4 available at New Shady Rest Campground. It turned out be very nice with a little extra space on one side because of a small hill. The large bear box was helpful to store all our cooking gear and food without having work out of the car. The flush toilets were clean and the camp hosts kept on top keeping the toilets well stocked.

The location is good and the camp hosts were friendly and helpful. The campsites are a little close together and there were some very loud people one of the nights we were there but overall we had a good experience.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
