Campsite 004 is located beside the host's site. It is level and close to the restrooms. Old Shady Rest CG stays open a week later (3rd week) than most USFS campgrounds.

We stayed at site 10. I was a nice site but the entrance to the site was unnecessarily boxed in with rocks placed across the road from the site and at the corners of the entrance to the site. In combination with the existing trees, this made it very difficult to back the trailer in. I notice other sites had a flared entrance which would have been a big help. I would suggest a bit of work with the rocks on site 10 to help things.The bathrooms were nice and clean and the campground was quit and clean. My compliments to those who do the cleaning work there.

Great camp host clean and quiet.

This campground is in amongst lots of pine trees providing lots of shade. The bathrooms are in need of renovation. Since some of the campsites back up to a busy street and hotels, pick your site carefully. Some sites are very long and deep. This campground is very close to the town of Mammoth.

I stayed in site 44 and it was perfect. Lots of space around the spot so that I wasn't right next to anyone else. And easy access in and out of the campground. The short walk into town is so short, I'd say you're already in town. Bathrooms were clean but there was no soap.

Campground close to services at Mammoth Lakes, toilets clean, no showers that I saw. Nice campground. Just that some people staying there should be more quiet...

This was a nice place to car camp while day hiking in the surrounding area and eating out in Mammoth Lakes (walked to Breakfast Club!). Large sites but wide open since trees had little foliage down low. Neighbors were quiet particularly at night. No showers. Didn't go to RV park to take one, my next park had one thankfully as the one after had no water at all (3 nights there)

The online map of campsite locations at Old Shady Rest is completely incorrect. Please correct or remove the map.

Easily accessible campground and sites. Campground was clean and quiet. Restrooms were very clean. Very close to amenities. Only negative was the site was set up for the trailer door to be on the left side, when most trailer doors are on the right.

Good location to be able to walk to services and have access to trails. Campground is nice and the sites fairly spaced apart. There is a bit of noise being close to the main road and some local neighborhoods

The campsites were well separated in a Jeffrey Pine forest, within walking distance of Mammoth Lakes. Good for access to the Devil's Postpile area, John Muir Trail, and Pacific Crest Trail. A shower in the campground would have been a plus, but we enjoyed our stay very much.

Myself and a friend booked sites #47 (5 nights) & #50 (1 night). Upon my arrival to #47, I found that the adjoining neighbor was playing loud music, with dancing lights, had 5 dogs, over 8 people and their stuff strewn all into my campsite boundaries (Slings, dog runs, do fences, bicycles, BBQ, firewood, chairs, hammocks, etc. They also ran their generator 24/7. I immediately spoke to the host since the neighbors were so noisy and disrespectful of others peace and surroundings and asked where I could move to. The host said he already gave them several warnings and they ignored him and that I should move. Therefore, I had to move and pay for 3 more nights at #35. I feel that both the hosts / administration locally and recreation.gov should uphold and penalize campers for violating polies that everyone else is held to adhere to. I have called 3x to recreation.gov and get disconnected, transferred and hung-up on when trying to file a complaint and request a refund. WHY LET FEW OTHERS RUIN THE EXPERIENCE OF THE WHOLE CAMPGROUND???!!!

Wonderful campground grumpy Host. Complained about music at 7:30PM. Complaint was not the issue, came in with a bad attitude and started bullying guests. Made a statement that alcohol was the issue. Nobody was drinking yet. He needs a course on diplomacy.

This is an old campground that isnt easy to access with an RV and took some expert level maneuvering. Access to town was great, plenty of hiking/biking and UTV trails nearby. Convict lake was amazing for fishing and swimming. Will come back to mammoth lakes, but not this place unfortunately due to a rude camp host.

Great spots for tenting! A little tight for trailers but excellent tree coverage for shady spots.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
