Very quiet and peaceful campground. Site was raked and fire pit was clean when I arrived. Easy walk to town from it.Only downside was my site had a fence as a border with a neighborhood next door. So try not to get a site on the north side of the campground if possible.

Site #4 was great!It's further away from the main road which helped reduced traffic noises. Other sites are closer to the main road so be mindful of this when booking, especially if you're tent camping. Site #4 sits up aginst a hill with a few walking paths, which was nice to take the dog for morning walks. Our camp host, Don, was next door and was very pleasant and friendly. The bathrooms were also very clean. The water spicket and trash weren't too far away. I'd stay here agin.

Great campground located near Mammoth Lakes. Older campground with small tight narrow roads. Makes it difficult to access campsites with larger travel trailers. Camp host Don is a great asset to this campground. Bathrooms are clean and well kept, sites clean and raked upon arrival. Will be visiting again soon

Site 6 was perfect! It was a large site and very spacious on all sides. Close to restroom. Only down side is not having showers nearby, so plan accordingly.

Loved our site, #23, and the campground in general. Very convenient to town.

Pretty quiet considering it is so close to town. Clean bathrooms. Host friendly and nice. Firewood on site.

There was plenty of space between campsites.It was nice to be so close to town.

Love camping here! The biggest issue is the extreme measures required to get a campsite. Its frustrating that there are so many empty campsites that show reserved but are vacant for the entire reserved time.

I love this campground. Always in great condition and the host are nice. I recommend to anyone going to Mammoth.

This is a great place to stay because it is central to many activities, quiet, and seems much farther out of town than it really is.
@FranzGB69E72C0 · Camped on Jun 19, 2025 at Campsite #50
Way too many rodents. Have to leave the hood open so they don't tear up the insulation. Rodents getting inside trailer.

When we arrived the campground was clean and well maintained. Our campsite had recently been raked clean, and the firepit was immaculate. We were worried that it was so close to town we would be hearing street noise all night, but it incredibly easy to forget just how close to town we were. Don was our park ranger, and he came by the check on us and even helped clean up our popup that got destroyed in a big wind gust. The firewood for sale was a bit expensive and dry, but we were able to find some better deals nearby.

Its great location close to village, restaurants, grocery stores but nestled in the wooden area. Get the best of both worlds. Definitely one of our family favorites.

Our stay Old shady rest was quiet and peaceful. Campsites and bathrooms were very clean.The camp host was very helpful in answering questions about the campground and surrounding activities. I did not give the campground 5 stars because the campground facilities are old and in need of upgrades, and it would be great if new facilities included showers, otherwise our stay was very pleasant.

Campground was clean, well supervised and quiet except for cars going up the road. Wish there were showers! Spaces have plenty of room. We didnt feel our tent was too close to an RV. Loved the convenience of being in town. Would stay again!

The Shady Rest campgrounds (New and Old) are situated right off Main Street with access to all the town has to offer, yet they are forested and and feel quite removed from all the activity. Bicycles are a great way to discover much of what Mammoth has to offer, and there are a few bike rentals if you don't have your own.

Had a great time here. Everything was clean, noise level respected, no issues.

The site is really nice and really long however getting into it is very difficult for trailers and Motorhomes. Road is very narrow and driveway is angled in wrong direction. To enter you must drive around the loop backwards. If you meet someone passing is near impossible.

Great host!

The park had a limited number of guests so we felt our campsite was private and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Shady rest is a great spot where you have some room between you and fellow campers and are just a few minutes away from Shady West Park and town. Love visiting there every year. Awesome campground.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
