We have stayed at New Shady Rest at least four times. We really like this campground for the easy access to bike paths and all the activities the Eastern Sierras has to offer. HOWEVER, Our latest stay was after the harvesting/logging of trees within the campground. It is still shady, a plus. But the large equipment left very uneven ground for tent camping. Lots of branches, large tree debris and tire tracks in the campsites, so I advise to bring a heavy duty rake to create yourself a nice place to set up your tent.. If you don't have a tent, no worries for you. Level area around the table, bear box and fire ring. Bathrooms are older, kept clean by the camp hosts. Kudos to them. Each female restroom has two sinks and two toilets, no showers. Male restrooms have two sinks, one toilet and one urinal. If we really need a shower we head over to High Sierra Campground and pay to use their showers.

Site 103 was quiet and shaded. Lots of room. All of the sites have large bear boxes, please use them. I did not see any bears, but saw one coyote.

I am a very inexperienced camper and so was the majority of my group. Our site was 103. However, the campsite was very organized on who went where. We arrived late so check in was the next day for us but it was very easy and the camp host was very nice. We really enjoyed the closeness to town and other activities, we were able to walk to town multiple times to get food and things. The sites I would say is nicely spaced apart but still visible. We were near a semi busy road/ trail so there was some foot traffic during the day and night. As there was some flashes of light from flashlights. We didn’t really mind that though. The bathroom was nice and clean, no soap but I am thinking that is just the norm. The campsite was clean. There is an 8 dollar for an extra car for every night, you will be there and there was no check out process. We enjoyed that there was service and very good service for our phones. It was a tad bit confusing navigating in the campgrounds but you will get the hang of it. The bathroom was a nice distance from us. Overall really really enjoyed our stay here and will be coming back.

Beautiful camp ground: many trees, great distance between sites; close bathrooms and water; RV dump station efficient/clean/easy in and out; quiet with adjacent bike path for safe biking with fun destinations; close to restaurants; personable, helpful and fun camp hosts: WONDERFUL/COULD NOT BE BETTER! Thank you!

Great spot, close to town. Plenty of space. Could see how towing a large trailer would be difficult as the roads curve and are narrow. Camp hosts were very helpful.
