Nothing can beat sitting or standing in the cool air over the water of the Little Red River while fishing, or just relaxing. The deep green of the water, the layer of fog just above it, the verdant appearance of the river bluff all add to the picturesque setting. A real bonus is seeing the splendor of a bald eagle soaring over the river. At JFK Park Campground, you will find clean, quiet and well-maintained campsites in a beautiful park setting. The bathhouses are well-maintained. Plenty of parking at and near the campsites. Access to the river bank is relatively easy at low water (low generation at the dam) times, but be prepared for slippery conditions. Some access points are also pretty steep. The Collins Creek trails are a bonus, and fishing in the creek is allowed for children under 16 years and one adult chaperone.

The park is not cared for as good as in the past. Grass goes over two weeks and possibly longer without mowing. Gate attendants are wonderful.

While we normally stay in section A for the cool breeze off the river, we stayed in section D this time on higher ground as a last(ish) minute trip and it was available the entire time. I think maybe since its the VERY last campsite (D18) and butts up to the woods there more room for critters. The 1st of 4 nights was AMAZING. The next 3, not so much as every night we were terrorized by a group of 3 massive raccoons and a tag along cat. Literally I think he thought they were all family. They opened our clasped closed with latches totes and were slapping our tent.all night long. Im talking zero sleep because of those little trolls. Probably wouldnt bother people in campers and I absolutely know theyre just nocturnal little bears living their best life, but id recommend staying in sections A-C. Still a great camp ground with nice enough facilities and would for sure go back!!

We camp here several times a year, the camp has always been clean and the hosts good. This time, the camp was sub par. The bathrooms were filthy most the time. No paper on one occasion. The fire pits were over flowing. The parking pad on D14 is breaking up and makes for a good ankle twist coming out the camper door. Not the usual conditions we find here.

JFK campground is our absolute favorite place to camp!

We love A3!! It is quiet, right on the river, lots of personal space! Easy to pull in, pull out. Almost completely shaded! A cool breeze always blowing in from off the river. A small trail from camper to river for easy access! We caught our supper in no time. Thank you

The park offers many attractions within. The trails are wide and lead beside a beautiful creek where numerous waterfalls can be found. Our grandchildren enjoyed being able to play and we came home with some amazing memories and photographs of the area.

JFK is one of the cleanest, quietest camping areas weve ever stayed in. Great place to fish, hike, bike ride, or just chill. The temperature is always about 5-10 cooler than up on the lake, due to the cold water coming out of the dam. If you like trout fishing, this is your place to go. Not expensive, and National Parks Sr pass gets you half price.

Stayed at D2, will have big mud hole in front of camper if rains, other than that good site.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
