This is a great park. Our site was amazing. Husband fished. We saw baby beavers, foxes, deer, a momma duck and her 9 babies and so much more. We hiked Sugarloaf and also did some antiquing. We are already planning our next trip.

Excellent campground for a relaxing weekend. Went to JFK campground for the April 8, 2024 eclipse. I was surprised that even with this significant event, the people at the campground were all respectful and conscious of others enjoying nature. People were especially considerate during quiet hours. This location Is excellent for trout fishing and enjoying Greers Ferry lake. Bathrooms were clean and had a flusher instead of just a pit .

Campsite was very nice with some privacy and located a stones throw next to the river. Enjoyed a wonderful time at JFK. Nice walking.

I've been coming there since just after it opened. I got there by driving my 1967 Chevrolet over the Swinging Bridge at Winkle Shoals. It cost $6 I think I remember, to camp there, then. Now you have lots more camping spaces. Campsites are good, but those along the river are an eyesore. I recently brought four families in RV's there. Took three days to get signed in as people weren't in the booth. I paid over $132 for each space for each family group. The people at the gate didn't know what space we were in, when we got there etc. We never got park maps, camp rules, etc.,. I understand the Covid Scare, but, really, they couldn't hand out packets? We we referred to big board poster of the camp. Yes, such info in available online. But we want something at, and from, the camp hosts (like it used to be). Also, I was bringing two of my sons-in-law to introduce them to the river and fly fishing. I had them buy $300+ in gear to begin to learn how to enjoy this sport. We all bought licenses' and trout stamps. Due to the water flow, we got six hours or so to fish over nine days there. We made use of the website and phone number for the dam control which proved to be incorrect. I had to teach them basics on land, but they got in the water for a total of 2 hours. We even went down river but the water almost never dropped. We declined to rent boats. It's 800 miles, one-way from here in West Texas. $500+ in fuel expenses, each. We spent nearly $2,000 in food, gifts, rentals, etc. in and around town. Not a good impression for the camp/or for the U.S. Corps of Engineers. The visitors' Center was closed. The inside of the Hatchery was closed. The campground was full, with people parking on the grass and worse. You've come a long way down since 1968... I hope you step back up in the future. The positive was Collins Creek (which, despite its inception, has no trout) where most spent time cooling off from the heat and humidity; and swimming in the lake. The area was/is still nice.

Great location with several excellent sites. We enjoyed being right on the banks of the Little Red River. Some rain which lead to a little heat & humidity... but the cool breeze coming off the river while the dam was running water really felt great. Needed a light jacket in the evening sitting next to the campfire.

I started going there in 1968. I don't mind the prices going up, not only do I expect them, but I agree. However, there used to be a patch of grass between the river and the road in B where 'day use' picnic tables were. There are still some there. But there have been 'camping spots' added. This degenerates the look, the 'peacefulness' the ambiance of the area. It doesn't matter that it was unused, it's sorta like the 'green space' that used to be required in subdivisions. Putting camper spaces there increases the revenue, does what communities do to 'make full and best use' of available land. But it has changed the whole idea of going there because it's looks bad, and destroys the experience - it's like staying in a commercial site.
