Convenient spot but unfortunately the people next to us were up talking and laughing until 3 in the morning.

This campground has previously been one of my favorites, but not anymore. There was a loop in the back of the camp which I understand has been usurped by the Park Service for training events. To make up for the lost sites, it appeared to me that they added sites into already crowded loops, as is evident by some new tables and bear boxes.. The site I had was sandwiched between several other sites occupying a circular drive. It should have been OK, but the group of 6 next to me were loud and partied until 4AM with music and chanting. There is no Park presence there, and the host had left for the season 2 weeks back Just as I was packing up the next morning, a park employee came to investigate a "noise complaint", but the offending people had been long gone. So what should have been a peaceful night, was anything but.

Sites are nice enough. Not much room in some, some are pretty significantly sloped etc. Mine was very flat with room for maybe 3 tents. Parking is challenging depending on your site and vehicle type. Again my site was reasonable - just an observation. Sites are VERY close together (tighter than the Pines camps in the valley) so everything is audible. Road noise is not insignificant.I think the main payoff is proximity to all the fun stuff on Tioga. Its about 10 minutes to Tenaya Lake, 1 hour to Lee Vining on the other side of the pass etc. Scenery is absolutely amazing. Skies are nice and dark for stargazing. Tons of climbing and hiking opportunities abound. Campground population density could decrease by 50% and would be great but it is what it is.Camp hosts did not shut down loud guests playing music and employing multiple flood lights - just FYI.

We were looking forward to staying at the Porcupine Flat campground since we've generally found campgrounds without water to attract "better" campers; less noisy RVs and party people. The campground was quiet by 9pm and traffic on the nearby Tioga Road quiets down as the evening progresses.Unfortunately our site, #15, simply should not exist. It's very close to a neighboring site, is tiny if you've got a tent, and is situated in a spot where cars coming into about 1/3 of the sites shine their headlights directly at the site for about 100' of driving. Fortunately for us we were able to scout out the site the day before so we knew to minimize our time there - we set up camp at 6pm and left by 7am. Very glad we didn't book two nights as we'd originally planned.On the flip side, we discovered by wandering around the campground that sites further from the road are nicer; less traffic, further from neighboring sites, and just generally nicer sites.

Campsite is awesome! This site specifically is pretty spacious with two nice spots for tents. Even though it's the first spot it's still off the road. Decent space from the other sites too. Other parts of the campground are definitely packed more tightly together. 100% would recommend this campsite

Porcupine Flat is the place for me to go- it is equidistant to activities in Tuolomnne Meadows and the Yosemite Valley Floor. It is a tad cold at night/early morning but I usually bring a good pad and extra warm layers.

Our site at Porcupine was amazing. Our site was one of the more "private ones" as the driveway is longer and there are tall trees and some rock formations surrounding the site. Very short walk to the bathroom, but not too close. Overall a wonderful stay at Yosemite if you want to avoid the busy valley.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
