The proximity of the campground to the Flat Tops Wilderness and surrounding view, Trapper's Lake, and the chance to have a wonderful meal at the Lodge was spectacular. Tim was the most kind and helpful campsite manager that added to a wonderful experience for our family.

We reserved 4 sites in the Shepherd's Peak campground in January for a late July-August trip for a multi-family trip. When we arrived we fell in love with the Himes Peak campground and spoke with the camp hosts who allowed us to change our campsites from Shepherd's Rim to Himes Peak. Both of the camp hosts who helped us with our change were very kind to do so (Tim and Ted) and we had a great time at the Himes Peak campground with our camp host Ted! The Himes Peak campsites are at the Big Fish trailhead and a couple hundred yards from the upper White River (Rio Blanco). Mosquitos were mild, afternoon thunderstorms were spectacular and the fishing was fair. Camping was outstanding!

We were in one of the most spacious sites, 11. There were 3 tent pads. We were surrounded by trees. The hummingbirds and many more bird species were fun visitors. Tim was a great camp host. The area was serene and beautiful. Lots to explore.

Certainly the most beautiful campsite weve had this year!! the Camp Host Jim was exceptional !! The hiking is great even through the burn scar trails are a little narrow, cause theyre mostly developed by horses. We plan to come back in the fall to enjoy the aspens.

Very friendly & helpful camp host! Tim gave us great fishing tips. The campsite itself is quiet, with multiple water sources and very clean toilets. Definitely bring mosquito repellent, but we didn't find the mosquitoes to be oppressive as long as we kept up with the bug spray. Can't wait to come back!

This site is delightful; my family and I had a wonderful time. The camp host is super helpful and kind, the bathrooms were clean and stocked the whole time. The wildflowers and mushrooms were everywhere :)

The campsite itself and the surrounding area was beautiful. However, when we got there there was no water available even though it was advertised as having them. Apparently a snow plow broke the water main. We were never informed of this prior to coming to the campsite. So thankfully the camp host had a large water container that he shared water with us for dishes but it was not potable. He did also give us a gallon of water. We then had to go back into town, 1.5 hours each way, to go get drinking water. The tent pad on site 1 was definitely on the smaller side and I was not able to set up my 8 person tent fully as the floor space was not enough. The absolute WORST thing was the mosquitos. I have been camping all over Colorado and in Florida and I have only had one other experience that was this bad. It was like literal clouds of mosquitos and it didn't matter the time of day. I had to use deep woods off and even then if I missed a spot they found it, not matter how small. Before you think it was this bad because of the nearby lakes, I have camped at several other spots on lakes and it was not even close to this bad. I even camped once at the lakefront campground in Steamboat Springs, which is about 3 hours away, and had zero problems with mosquitos. Again the scenery was great, but I definitely will not be back.

Loved this campground at Trappers Lake! Shepherds Rim is a reservable campground which we like. Sites 5-8 are awesome-all with a view. Unfortunately, during our stay around June 12, there was no water. Probably fixed by now. The campground host was friendly and helpful. Id go back for sure.

Great campsite near lakes and trails! Site 10 felt private and tucked away. We saw a gorgeous white tailed deer on the hill by the site as we were eating dinner. The camp host was fantastic, super friendly and its obvious how much he enjoys being there - plus it shows with how well maintained the campsite is. The road to the campsite is very groomed and we didnt have any trouble in a Honda HRV.

Camp host was great, very friendly, third time and enjoy that area very much a lot of great hikes. Only bad part is it is very difficult to get to the lake if you wanted to do some paddle board or inflatable kayaks.

This campground is well kept and the campground host is always willing to help out with information and service. Also love that it is a designated wilderness area. No ATVs, no mountain bikes on trails, no motors on the lake and plenty of great hiking trails.
@AprilC1313313 · Camped on Aug 5, 2024 at Campsite #7
great campground. sites #6, #7 & #8 have the best views and plenty of space for a small RV. tim the campground host was very welcoming and keeps the restrooms spotless! worth the drive to stay here.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
