One of the best campgrounds weve stayed at. The pit toilets were in pretty bad shape - very smelly, lots of flies - but such a scenic and quiet site we could look past that.

The care takers, who take care of both Sugarloaf I and II, do a fantastic job taking care of both campgrounds. They are always busy doing some upkeep or talking to campers helping them out. Great people! I loved the cross country ski trail flat iron. What a beautiful fall hike. I also love the close proximity to Mountain trails Sugarloaf, Cherry Mountain, and countless others. I camped at both Sugarloaf I and II 5 times this camping season. Three nights at a time. Can't wait for next season! Thank You!

Great campsite! Our campsite was very private even though we had neighbors on both sides. The area is magnificent, and the North and Middle Sugarloaf trails can be accessed via another trailhead from the campground. Would come back!

Great campsite! Exactly what I was looking for, out in the mountains, trees, river, trails, campfire, this place has it all! Camp was clean, and everyone was friendly. This was my first solo camping experience and I felt safe and had a wonderful time with my dog!

It would be great to show pictures of the campsite. Arrived at the campground and found that the entrance to the site we selected was blocked by large boulders. We could not use our truck camper. Had to find another site. Otherwise, the campground was fine.

Been camping here for 61 years. Lots of entertainment in the area for children. Shopping in North Conway is a must. Lincoln not far away for restaurants or shopping for necessities. And of course the rides through Franconia notch and Kancamagus highway.

My grandparents started bringing me to Sugarloaf II before I was a year old and have been camping here exclusively ever since (57 years). Normally, I'd give this place a 15 star review, because to me it is sacred ground. For the most part it has retained much of its charm, but unfortunately things change, like fire pits. We arrived on Fri eve and on Sat @ 8am, we woke to loud construction trucks, one w/ a trailer coming up Zealand Rd. & into the campground. Turns out they were dropping off a small front end loader between sites 1 & 2. Fast fwd to Mon morning (and Tues), 8am again! We hear trucks come in and now they start pulling up the fire pits in all empty sites. I can not for life of me understand why this is being done DURING the season? While many campers like us, are staying there for our vacation, you know to get away from noises like that and relax in the quietness of the mountains!?! Good grief, DO IT BEFORE OR AFTER THE SEASON! For two days this was going on and each firepit they pulled up, they would drop off with a 'CLANG' onto the ground in an area along side the campground road. If this wasn't bad enough, the nice open firepits that have existed in majority of the sites for many decades were being replaced with 2.5'-3' tall, round closed firepits. So you'll no longer be able to see the fire from your camp chair, you'd have to stand or sit right on top of it - booooo! Not sure if due to new forestry regulation, but it is just awful. Needless to say, we soaked in every fire for the rest of the trip, knowing that the Sept trip we have booked, we'll have the awful, tall barrel-like firepit. Lastly, for the first time in my life, I found both dumpsters were full to the brim by Sun night. I had to walk my trash to two dumpsters, because when I opened the door on 1st, trash was falling out at my feet (in the dark!) and the 2nd dumpster was just about as bad. I did notice new management took over, not sure if related. Still love the place, but disappointed.

Campground is clean and peaceful. Lots of hiking nearby. Camp Hosts are friendly and helpful. Be aware there are no hookups for RVs, but sites are big and private to accommodate self contained vehicles. No dumping station. Not a party place! We come here to camp, and enjoy the outdoors. Never disappoints.

The sites are properly maintained in all respects. The outhouse facilities get proper maintenance despite being somewhat more rustic than several other sites in the white mountains. The site is a little more remote, a bit more dispersed than other white mountain campsites which makes for a pleasurable experience. Many of the individual campsites has larger buffers between them and neighbors which increases privacy.

With the new campground hosts the campground is back to being one of the best places to camp in the White Mountain NF.The road leading to the campground is still an issue as in previous years. Too many of those traveling up the notch road speed.Speed bumps near the entrances of Sugarloaf 1 and 2 even seasonal ones would help in any mishaps involving campers and speeding traffic.

We had a wonderful time at Sugarloaf 2, one of our favorite campgrounds. Two new campground hosts greeted us and made sure that our stay was wonderful. They are such an asset to this great campground. Make sure to spend some time at the river behind the campground to wade, swim, and relax. There is remarkable hiking in the area as well as relaxing walks. The campground is dog-friendly with leashes required. There is no cell service unless you climb or return to Route 302.

Really kind hosts. Location is really nice since its close to towns and a lot of the trailheads on zealand rd and the northern whites. Just a heads up, campsites are a little closer to each other compared to other campgrounds in the whites and there are no sinks with soap to wash in the toilets. But that didnt bother us, we love the rustic feel and we love interacting with our camp neighbors :)

Great campgroundclean and well-maintained. However, I faced difficulties contacting the campground hosts. After vehicle issues delayed my check-out, I tried reaching the hosts but found no direct contact information online. Neither Recreation.gov nor the White Mountain HQ could provide it. Eventually, the White Mountain HQ contacted the management contractor, who then reached the hosts, but this was a lengthy process. Providing the host's contact information after booking would prevent such issues and streamline communication.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
