We always enjoy Canebrake Hitsr Camp ! We do not like that they let non horse people camp there ! This is the only horse camp that people with horses can camp at so why do they let anyone camp there with no horses ???

Campsite was well maintained. However, there were no wheelbarrows available for use for cleaning, and I looked from saturday afternoon through sunday morning. I think other campers took them and kept them. The site I had required me to run up over the hill to get far enough over to be able to back in. I did not expect a rig 15ft shorter than the max length would have issues backing into the space provided. I will choose a different site next time. I did not look at the shower or bathroom facilities, but heard no complaints from my friends. Nice flat sites. Horse area prepped with gravel to prevent mud. My horse would not lay down or roll on the surface, so not ideal, but I understand why it is that way. Overall, this is quieter than the primitive camp and cheaper than 4B. I would stay here again.

I've been coming to Canebrake with horses for many years. I enjoy it immensely. I think the BCH have really done a good job marking the trail system. Much appreciated.

Always a good time staff attentive to needs and easy to communicate with. Warm lights on in bathhouse. Option of corral for horses to roll. Trails maintained well

This is an equine campground. Unfortunately, there were several sites that were taken by non-equine campers. ATV campers and even hunters were camped in this horse campground.

The park conditions are declining greatly, one of the mens bathrooms has been out of order for six months. After viewing a personnel who was responsible for cleaning the bathrooms which was clear he did not clean any of them only spending two seconds in each one of them. Our stay was every other weekend, each time we had to clean the horses area. It was really bad. The horses area ground is much lower than the surrounding area so it holds water bad when it rains. There are a lot of regular campers and ATV campers do horse campers cant get in.

The lights outside the bath house were not on. On lot 10, one of the tie posts was very loose. The area where the horses stand needs attention, and the manure pits had not been emptied.

Ive been going to Canebrake for many years. In the past couple of years it is changing and not for the better. There are more and more non horse people being able to camp in the only horse camp in Uwharrie National Forest. In the last couple of trips in May there were ATV/ UTV and tents in our horse camp. People who dont KNOW about horses, their behavior, and dislikes is not a good mix. Especially for our horses. I had to clean my horse area of old hay and manure for the most part. There has not been a camp host to over see the sites. I love camping and riding here really really would be sad for the horse people to lose our only camp sites. Your attention on these matters would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Great horse trails and campground. Some trails are fairly easy but some are steep. Make sure you stop at the big rocks off of trail 706. Pay attention to trail marker colors to keep track of where you are at. I recommend using a mapping app such as Ramblr.

Very nice facility with electrical hookup. Site 11 is across from bath house, water & manure station making cleanup & disposal very easy. Horse tie out area could use some reworking as poles have been pulled way in & electrical panel box was backed over at some point leaving damage. This is one of my favorite spots to camp. Great riding, well marked trails that are basically easy for any novice. Rocky in certain areas. New trail maps are easy to follow. My one complaint is that the new reworking of the horse trails takes you away from the lake & my favorite waterside trail is now strictly a hiking trail off limits to horses. I can no longer get my horse out into the Basin Lake water. Real bummer. Overall I highly recommend Canebreak. I feel safe & secure when camping here.

Great campground but it could use some weed eating around the tie out posts. Overall great place to stay.

This is a horse camp. However, non-horse campers were allowed to stay who had UTV's and they did ride them around the campground. This should not be allowed in a horse camp. UTV's were being ridden around the horse camp and didn't slow down or stop for horse riders. This should not be allowed.

We love camping at Cane Brake with our horses. The River Trail and Lake Loop are very nice rides.

No camp host.High tie posts are very loose. Mats on some sites creating a safety hazard. In the last two years the place has deteriorated tremendously with no host.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
