Had a wonderful time. Campers seemed to be a quiet bunch this time which adds to the enjoyment. Unfortunately, it is not always that way.

Canebreak is well set up for camping with horses. Most sites have some shade, good high line poles,close to water for horse spigots and bathhouses. The riding arena is nice with a sand surface. A beautiful horse camp in the Uwharrie Forest.

The camp host was non existent. I have been to this campground too many times to count. My campsite was filthy. trash in the firepit, beer cans, other non burning items. There were old piles of manure on my site and just basic trash scattered on the site. the restrooms were not clean, and on Sunday there was NO PAPER in the ladies room. I cleaned up the site where my animals were, but i did leave the old piles of manure. Further, i had an incident at camp where 2 intoxicated individuals were on my site, their dog was urinating on my items outside, rug, hay bag, etc.When i asked them to leave it caused a huge altercation and the camp host Never appeared to help. We called 911 and the officer NEVER came either.This is one of my favorite places to camp and i do not feel the changes made with rotating camp host has provided ANY positive change. You cannot rely on the current camp host for any assistance. The Rangers are not available and in this case calling 911 provided not assistance either. I felt very unsafe during my recent stay.

I am an equestrian and would like to see that this particular camp is limited to equestrians. With a number of regular camping options in this area it seems to be reasonable to request this camp be limited to equestrian campers. The non equestrian campers often do not understand the safety concerns while being around equine and will entertain themselves in camp like playing soccer and riding bicycles too close to riders. I am sure they are not trying to be dangerous but this is going to cause someone or an equine to get hurt.
We only have limited camping areas and the regular camping options are much more available.

I like Canebrake and have camped there over the years and ENJOYED knowing that the camp HOST was ALWAYS there to help out if needed. HOWEVER, on my last trip last week NO CAMP HOST. At night only two campers on entire campground. THIS IS NOT GOOD with todays climate. I hope you'll consider getting another FULL TIME camp host.
