Chewalla Lake Rec Area is located in the Holly Springs Ranger District, National Forests in Mississippi (49 min southeast of Collierville, TN) with an elevation of 406 feet. There are a total of 20 campsites. The campground is open all year. 19 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 60 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 9 sites have electric and water hookups. Fees range from $7.00 to $40.00. Some amenities include dump station, playground, boat ramp, swimming. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

Due to the impacts of the ice storm across the area, the recreation area is temporarily closed until the severe weather has passed and the area is cleared of potential safety hazards. Visitors should call the district office or monitor this page for updates.

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and for the protection of public health and safety and resources, Chewalla Lake, Davis Lake, and Choctaw Lake Recreation Areas are temporarily closed.

The campground is old and mostly primitive sites. You can tell the campground manager is working to improve the camper sites. The bathhouse is old and not super clean but had hot water for my shower. The trail around the lake is serene.

Nice quiet campground, water and electric hookups, heavy forest and picturesque lake. Friendly campground host. Shower and restrooms, washer and dryer. Roads were once paved but are in very poor condition now.

We did not stay. The park was run down and in disrepair. There were park hosts on site but the restroom and showers had not been taken care of for some time.

There's a lot of potential with this campground, but it is in desperate need of maintenance. The road is in rough shape, the restrooms at the picnic area have a collapsed roof, and the bathhouse in the campground needed a good cleaning. The three stars are for the beautiful lake and quiet setting. I would probably try other campgrounds before returning here. (I drive a Sprinter Van, so I have no comments on site access...its all easy for me!)

If you are looking for a tidy park with water and electric hookups, this is not it. The park had an unkept appearance with lots of tall grass and downed trees. The spigot spewed brown water, so we were unable to connect to city water. The electric connections had reverse polarity with hot and neutral wires reversed. Thankfully our battery management system prevented us from connecting to bad power. We were disappointed in this National Forest campground. Not worth the drive off the interstate.

Nice quiet campground. Lots of walking possibilities and a well kept trail down by the lake. Campground roads are gravel and well kept. The host went out of his way to accommodate my schedule, he was on the ball!

Our site was close to the dam, so it took us a while to get used to the sound of the water. The park is very clean and has a great fitness trail, which is in new condition and has many workout stations. We enjoyed our stay.

I found the campsites to be well maintained and well designed. Mine had both electrical and water supplies specific to my site. It was also nice that there was an abundance of free firewood. I also found the lake and small island just offshore to be very scenic.

Great little lake campground. We were the only ones in the park. Too bad we couldn't have gotten another spot because they all say they are booked but they aren't. Absolutely no one except the camp host was there, yet only 2 sites were available to book

This is a wonderful campground. Peaceful, serene setting on the lake. Campground hosts are super kind, friendly and working hard to bring the sites and infrastructure back to life after the campground had recently been closed down for a number of years. Bring a kayak and/or stand-up paddle board to fully enjoy the lake if its a visit in warmer weather. Will definitely return here if my van travels bring me back to the area!

The site was big and very nice with water and electric. The campground host was friendly and helpful. He even told me that I could get some wood from his pile at no charge which I really appreciated. The bathrooms and shower house were clean and well stocked. I walked the lake trail which was an easy walk partially by the water and the rest through the woods. The picnic table was new and very sturdy. I stayed overnight on my way elsewhere so it worked out perfect for me.

The Park is awesome and the camp host Chuck is a really great guy and does an amazing job of making everyone feel welcome and safe.He has also done an amazing job keeping the camp clean. I have been coming here for years and this is the best I think I have ever seen here.I love the newly renovated sites.
