This campground was easy to find and well-maintained. It was very affordable, as well.

Nice quiet campground. Lots of walking possibilities and a well kept trail down by the lake. Campground roads are gravel and well kept. The host went out of his way to accommodate my schedule, he was on the ball!

Holly Springs is a beautiful town to visit

The site was big and very nice with water and electric. The campground host was friendly and helpful. He even told me that I could get some wood from his pile at no charge which I really appreciated. The bathrooms and shower house were clean and well stocked. I walked the lake trail which was an easy walk partially by the water and the rest through the woods. The picnic table was new and very sturdy. I stayed overnight on my way elsewhere so it worked out perfect for me.

When we arrived, only two other campers were in the entire campground, which looked run down. The roads needed repair, and the sites looked infrequently used. I met the camp host and asked what was up. He said he was a volunteer who had signed on to restore the campground, which had fallen into ruin and had been shut down for a while. If it weren't for him, I would have left. He reassured me it was safe. This campground could be a real gem if it were properly funded. It needs money and more help to restore to its former glory. I hope this happens, as it would be a treasure unrealized if not. The camp host is a real caring patriotic host. He needs help. He cares and deserves more support. Would I recommend others stay there? Yes, definitely. Especially to show that this campground is worth saving. Please increase funding and support to bring it back to life.

This park is a hidden GEM! We stayed in a 25ft travel trailer we tow behind our truck. We loved every second of being there and wish we could stay longer. The site is incredibly clean, easy to maneuver, camp host and his wife were so friendly! We only wish we could have stayed longer. Definitely recommend if your passing through or headed for a weekend!!!

Had a great time during our stay at Chewalla. The place was clean and tidy, and well-represented by the campsite host who was friendly and helpful during our stay. Good fishing off the dock (caught 7 or 8 cats here) and throughout the lake (averaged 1.5/hr over 4.5hrs or so). Still a little cold for good fishing imo. Hot showers, washer and dryer with detergent and dryer sheets, firewood available, everything we expected and then some. We have no complaints, and will definitely be back if it fits in our schedule.

During our first stay on May 9 the grass was overgrown, sites were full of garbage and branches and the place looked abandoned. A tornado hit nearby and we had to scope out a ravine to run to since the bathrooms were closed. On our second stay on May 19 the grass had been cut but a sketchy couple slept in their pickup truck nearby with a loose dog and the man rode his 4-wheeler around the campground until around 2am. At least he finally turned his loud music off around 11pm. It would have been nice to have a ranger come through to check things out. It's a shame, because the lake here is pretty and it's a very convenient location right off the interstate. If you come here, just know you're on your own and there are very few "livable" campsites.

We camped at several paid campgrounds on this trip but I insisted on trying out this one as well. I had never stayed at a free site before and was a bit concerned. It was amazing! Great views, not a lot of people and those who were there were far enough away we didn't even notice them. We didn't even mind not having hookups! It felt perfectly safe though there was one truck that made several passes through during the night and a young couple who came late at night and parked for a bit in another site. It was me, my daughter and granddaughter and we didn't feel unsafe at all. We stayed one night on our way to Lebanon, MO and another night on our way back to SC. I will stay here again! Easy to get to and oh, so peaceful!
