Leech Lake Rec Area is located in the Walker Ranger District, Chippewa National Forest (2 hrs 9 min west of Duluth, MN) with an elevation of 1,298 feet. There are a total of 78 campsites including 4 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of May to mid October. 73 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 48 and 141 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 5 sites have electric and water hookups. 69 sites have electric hookups. Fees range from $14.00 to $50.00. Some amenities include shower, dump station, laundry facility, playground, boat ramp, flush toilets. Activities include boating, fishing, floating sports.

Great place to relax, fish or kayak. Park staff and camp hosts maintain and monitor the campground very well. There is a nice nature trail.

Awesome campground and boat launch. Honestly the only thing I can find to complain about is the automatic faucets & dryers in the bathrooms! Those are horribly annoying because they won't stay on. It's totally impossible to wash hands properly, or dry one's hair with those dryers.... I really wish the faucets & dryers would all get replaced with manual ones!

We have been coming to the federal dam campsite for four years in a row now. Campsites are pretty level, clean, quiet, ample lot space, great fish cleaning shack and HOT water! I book the day Im able to for the next year. Only improved I would make is to take out a few trees that make it difficult to back into sites. In front of sites and next to site. Possibly a closer playground as well. Overall I recommend it to everybody that asks where we go for opening a fishing.

Love this place overall but the vault bathroom in the middle lane near the mooring lane really needs a fan working. It's been down last year and the first 2 trips of this year.

Really enjoy this campground! Easy to fish with or without a boat. Large clean sites that make it a nice relaxing place to enjoy time outdoors. Kids love the playground area too.

Beautiful campground. All campsites were very large, so you weren't staring into your neighbor's camper. Showers and bathrooms very clean. Fish cleaning house was SUPER clean and had grinder/disposals so no smell and no flies. We highly recommend this campground.

Very nice campground. Sites were clean and well layed out - not overly crowded. All facilities were clean and well maintained. Good hosts and well tended facility.

Beach Lake is very serene place and its one of the few.gov parks that actually has a few full hook ups. The care of the bathrooms bathhouse and Fishhouse were outstanding. The Camp hosts were always available and did a great job.

Very close to the highway, but very serene anyway. It was lovely to be surrounded by so many trees and the lake is beautiful. Excellent experience.

It started when I arrived. A camper was parked on the site I had paid for. I went to the office and it took a couple of hours for the people to return after the attenant called her and urged her to return and move off the site. The camper should have known she was in violation of the rules and of course the attedant knew. You should make a decision to remove tents, campers and the likes from the sites to free the site up for paying customers.

We enjoyed our recent stay at the Leech Lake Rec area. The sites are very big, everything was clean and immaculately maintained. The volunteers and staff there were friendly and welcoming. This campground is just the way it should be.
