Bailey's Point is a great campground in southern Kentucky. This visit was very unusual because of the high water level of Barren River Lake, around 23 above summer pool the week we were there. The campground has 215 sites, but only about 40 were open. Rangers said they were hoping the lake would go down enough that they could the cleanup done to open by 4th July. They not only have the aftermath of the high water to deal with but there are quite a few large trees down from high winds in the area. It's certainly a big job facing them.As far as our experience it was great. First time I've camped in the "A" Loop, but hope it's not the last.

When we got there they told us that we couldnt camp on the site we originally paid for because it was still underwater and big lambs and trees still down from the. So was able to park our camper to the side where my son was staying, they said they usually dont do that, but that was fine. The grass was really high too just looks like the campground hadnt done nothing to clean up, which is not usually have a ground. Look in the past.

Very pleasant. We enjoyed our stay. The woman working at the entrance was very nice too.

Site B37 was unlevel (there was no way to get level) and the electrical hookup was so far away it was unusable. While it was a pull-thru site, the left turn out of the site was not only downhill, but it was so sharp a turn, I ended up backing out of the site to get out (and I only had a small 17ft trailer).

Restroom/shower facility in Loop B were clean and in good shape and working order. Sites nearer the lake offered more space.

We only stayed one night by the water, which was perfect. The gentleman at the gate was the most helpful person that I have met in a long time. We didn't have reservations and no wifi. He sent us to the site and came down when our reservation was approved by cell call. This took some time due to call being in hold. He told us we could now set up and asked if we needed anything. The site was very clean and all hookups worked fine

The view was beautiful. But the exposed rusted nails and rotting steps were NOT okay nor safe. I had our 3 year old daughter who I had to carry most of the time near the site bc of the rotting railroad ties with exposed rods and nails. Even busted a tire, which cost us $200. Completely unacceptable. I understand that the sites are older, but simple maintenance and making sure all sites are safe should be a requirement. Glad I didnt bring our dog, could have easily stepped on nails also. I almost tripped multiple times going up and down the stairs to the picnic tables bc the steps were half rotted and missing. I understand that over time things wear down, but again, monthly maintenance and making sure there is no extreme deterioration of the site is something that prevent accidents from happening.

Location is excellent as it's directly on Barren River Lake. A lot of sites have a full water view. Bailey's Point is my favorite COE campground. Rates have increased significantly over the past couple of years so I'm hoping some improvements will be made. The campground is kept clean but the bath houses need to be repaired and maintained. Grass is getting high in some areas; some areas had overgrown and was cut like hay. I understand the attendant and camp hosts are now volunteers and not paid; that seems like a step in the wrong direction. Nothing to do with the campground but AT&T cell coverage is spotty at best!

Bathroom facilities in serious need of remodeling. It smelled like urine. washers were not available. No ice or firewood either.
@JoeH9727393 · Camped on Aug 11, 2024 at Campsite #A3
We like Baileys Point, but were disappointed with how the condition of the facilities have declined over the last couple of years.A crew came in to cut the very overgrown grass the day before we left. The bathrooms need repairs and upgrading. Hand driers dont work, leaking faucets, etc. There is a lot of work in general that needs to be done.

I really wanted to give the highest rating, but the grass was so high and needed to be mowed so bad. Other campers were talking about that they had never seen it like this ever and they had been coming for 30 plus years. The high grass just aids the bugs. We joked that we should have brought our weed eater and trim around out sites.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
