Howell Station Campground in Marion County is located 1 hr east of Des Moines, IA with an elevation of 702 feet. There are a total of 135 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid April to mid October. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 49 and 93 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. All sites have electric hookups. Prices start at $22.00 per night. Some amenities include shower, dump station, playground, boat ramp, amphitheater. Activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

Big shady camping stalls, bike-walking trails just a beautiful place to camp, the only down side little to no cell service in the ariea

Biggest problems are no access to internet and very very limited cell reception. A real problem in the stormy weather. TV not good as well for us to get information about weather.Very nice clean sites.Bathrooms Clean Do like the campground however!

Everything was great except change of check in and check out time is terrible. Don't know who came up with check out at noon but it stinks.

Always enjoy camping here. Sites are large, lots of open space. Proximty to the river, lake and Pella is a plus.

The grass was extremely long to walk through when it was wet from dew and rain. It was also very uneven with holes and ruts and there was a multitude of flies!

The sites are spacious and very level. Most provide ample shade.

We always love our stay here. The proximity to all the activities related to the balloon festival is perfect. We love watching the eagles fish from the water right behind our site. The walking trails are great too

We absolutely love this campground by the river, and thoroughly enjoyed the daily show put on by a family of bald eagles feeding on the abundant fish below the dam. Cell phone service is spotty at best and there is no internet service, so you will truly disconnect while you are here. The facilities are clean and the park staff are very friendly.

The event sites were clean, large and level, and had shade. Nice walking paths. The bathrooms were nice and clean. We had severe weather and the sherif drove through the camp ground alerting everyone to seek shelter. Which we did make it safely to shelter. The town of Pella is close. So much to see there. It was a fun trip.

The park has nice trails for walking and biking. However this summer part of the trails have been closed for maintenance. We fill have been taking up most of the best time of year for activities. Its seems to be a nice quiet area. Lots of Eagle activity and fishing.

Always has clean bathrooms! Mowing is done very well! Check in is simple and the booth people are very friendly and helpful!

Ive been camping here since I was five. It was extra special this time because I taught my 5 year old daughter how to ride bicycle in loop2, the same place I learned 36 years ago.

The bike trail currently had multiple closures making it almost impassible. I also wish they would install a cell tower or cellular signal extender in order for phones and WIFI to work properly

First time camping there. Beautiful area. Clean and friendly. The staff were so helpful and super kind. Definitely recommend this place.

Beautiful campground! Our site (32) was so spacious and we loved watching the deer walk through the woods nearby. It looked like most of the sites on the perimeter near us were also spacious. Our boys like the quick walk to the river for fishing. They caught a lot! We didnt have water hookups but there were water hydrants nearby. Nice shower houses!
