Howell Station Campground in Marion County is located 1 hr east of Des Moines, IA with an elevation of 702 feet. There are a total of 135 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid April to mid October. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 49 and 93 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. All sites have electric hookups. Prices start at $22.00 per night. Some amenities include shower, dump station, playground, boat ramp, amphitheater. Activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

We had site #110 with great views of the river. Places to walk, a nice sized site for our fifth wheel,clean campground. Will stay there again when we go through there.

The facility was immaculate, and the campsites were well spaced. We also had some relatively good fishing from the Bank. Definitely a plus. Its one of the best parks we have camped in. If you want to get out and look at the surrounding town, it wont be a waste of time. Pella is a great community, with a lot to offer

Noon checkout is a bit ridiculous. Theres barely enough time to clean up, let alone spend any time with the friends/family youre camping with. Please consider extending check out to 2pm

Over priced and had to leave by noon could not even cook dinner then leave i would spend the 6 dollars more and go to the county park that have full hookup and i don't have to go before noon

We enjoy camping at Howell Station. It is very relaxing and the facilities are great. There are plenty of walking/bicycle trails and also access to the reservoir for pleasure or fishing.

Site was great, location was great. We we there over Memorial Day weekend. the weather was a bit of everything. Overall nice.We were on site 86, would recommend that site, but the shower wasn't even lukewarm, ever! Made reservations at Roberts Creek for next year. Don't want to go through cold showers again. We have a smaller camper and a good shower room is important.

We camped at Howell Station, which is one of our favorite campgrounds. it offers nice flat camp sites with firerings. Well maintained as far as mowing, etc. And the bathhouse/restroom facilities we very clean! Much appreciated!

Such a peaceful campground! Great for birdwatching and time around the fire. And the restrooms are some of the cleanest we have seen at a campground! Lots of walking/biking areas, very accessible no matter where you are coming from, close to Pella and Hwy 163. We love coming here! Besides hitting the bakeries and meat shops in downtown Pella, we also went to Tassel Ridge outside of town. And a new discovery, Full Bloom Brewery in Oskaloosa we highly recommend the outdoor seating and the brews! Can't wait to come back to Howell station!

I've lived in Iowa for 70 years....never been to the Howell Station at Red Rock. Super impressed by the huge campground, generous spaces, super clean shower and restrooms. And then there are the giant 400 year old trees throughout.

Always love this park. Quiet and lots of room between campsites. Staff was very nice. The only complaint we have is the mowing. The grass was too long, dandelions tall and everywhere.

This campground never disappoints! The grounds are beautifully maintained. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. We love the spacing between most sites as it feels very private.

We camped at Howell for a week and really enjoyed it. I had booked ahead a few weeks and didn't realize I had forgot to use my card for seniors life time pass. The campground hosts were so friendly and helpful to add it to my account to be refunded. They even ran our card back to our campsite after applying our refund. Great Hosts! Beautiful park and our favorite campground close to home.

An outstanding campground, Howell Station is below the dam at Red Rock. A large campground with mostly spacious sites, both along the River and on the park-like prairie. The bike and walking trail is our favorite. Level campsites, great restrooms, its quiet and relaxing.
