I've been going to McGee creek on the recommendation of a travel writer friend. The views are superb and the spacing between most campsites is pretty good. Unfortunately, we had to leave a day early due to wildfire smoke, but still enjoyed the visit. This campground is often windy, which did help clear the smoke out a bit and it kept the mosquitos away. In the past the campground hosts were really nice and the bathrooms and general upkeep were excellent; it seems that there is now a contractor as host who rarely seemed around and the recycling bins were over full.

Lovely campground. The sites along the creek are great. The toilets were clean. Only downside was the overstuffed recycling bins that didn't get emptied the whole time we were there. Plan to take at least a short walk up McGee canyon from the trailhead, it is beautiful.

Nice campsite right by the creek. Table right next to bear box under shade canopy

This campground has magnificent large views, flush toilets with sinks and mirrors, and a beautiful creek running through it.

My only hesitation in writing a review is I don't want this beautiful hidden gem to get over run with people. Sites are well spaced from each other, there are clean restrooms with flush toilets, water (of course), overall really well considered. All the guests while we were there (four nights) were very considerate, quiet and respectful of others. McGee Creek flows right by with lots of Aspens. Most sites don't have a lot of shade, but some on the edges are shaded at different times of the day.

There was a little bit of cell phone service, which I appreciated. The toilets flush, which was also nice. The scenery was nice, but not the very best. (The competition for scenery is pretty stiff. hee hee) Overall, I enjoyed the McGee Creek campsite, and I intend to return!

Very dependent on which site you get - some are near the trees and creek, some are out in the scrub brush and blazing hot. Ours was away from the toilets, but right next to someone who ran their generator for 5 hours every evening and then again in the morning so the nice atmosphere of being in the mountains was ruined for us. Otherwise, very convenient to Steelhead Lake trailhead.

Probably one of the best camp grounds I've stayed over the last year. Facilities are nice and clean. The camp host was friendly. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Beautiful views of the mountains. The site we stayed at had its own partial enclosure over the picnic table. This location is right next to the creek so you do hear it all night but it's rather soothing, just be aware that the bugs are also there due to the creek, but not absolutely horrible. I would definitely stay here again.

Our campsite was excellent--quiet, clean, shady in the early morning and later afternoon. The camp host was very friendly and helpful. We went into Mammoth to spend some time there, especially in the library. We found cool pools and hot pools to soak in. The fishing in the creek was great--we caught dinner, more than enough to feed 2 people. The sound of the creek rushing water was very soothing. We took the hike up from the end of the road at the pack station. It was hot, sunny, and a steady climb; but the flowers were in bloom providing a great view as we hiked. We will be back towards the end of the summer!

Campground is off the beaten path, fairly quiet, close to numerous fishing and hiking opportunities.

very nice campsite to stay at, when it is well attended to.

Wonderful location, well-maintained, clean facilities. Don't go there, I don't want it to get too popular.

Great spot. Quiet, clean, and open. Perfect for camping during fall weather. They need to update the amenities for this campground. It has 6 flush toilets and water access.

One of the best camp areas in the e. Sierra. Cozy and comfortable. Great hiking. Be advised no potable water out of the spigot.

The campground overall was very nice but camp management lacks most management skills that are required for the job. We made our reservations for site #26 in advance on line and paid for # 26 for its the site we wanted. Upon arrival we passed by the camp management site. No one around. We went to #26. The site we reserved and paid for. Parked our 23ft trailer. Levelled it and unhooked from it. Then camp management showed up and told us there wont enough room for us. He was worried that there would not be room for other campers. We didn't take more tan half the parking apron . #26 apron is designed and designated for 2 campsites. We we're force to move to site 18 on the side of the hill away from the creek. Hooking back up. Moved and did it all over again. We were there fist there and did not intend to or did we take more than half the apron. Camp management offered no help nor did we see him again. Don' pick site #26 if you want your own parking apron. Thank you Gary Layton

Easy highway access; good trail access up the road. Beautiful spot. When campground is full, bit difficult of a bathroom situation - there is only one station- and constant lines for two hours in the morning. All sites are good sites.

The most peaceful and beautiful site. Perfect even ground to park your car/RV. The most beautiful view of the stars at night.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
