Very dependent on which site you get - some are near the trees and creek, some are out in the scrub brush and blazing hot. Ours was away from the toilets, but right next to someone who ran their generator for 5 hours every evening and then again in the morning so the nice atmosphere of being in the mountains was ruined for us. Otherwise, very convenient to Steelhead Lake trailhead.

Camp site was very easy to access, beautiful views and most importantly clean restrooms.

We love this spot: its nestled into a high desert meadow with beautiful plants. The campground is clean, quiet, and remote. Without light pollution, it has excellent star viewing on a clear night. There are gorgeous views of mountains on one side & the valley floor on the other side. Having McGee Creek slice through the aspen on the edge of the campground is a bonus. If you want to ride horses, McGee Pack Station is up the valley. The host keeps the place super clean. The bathrooms are the cleanest weve seen at a recreation.gov campground. This campground is perfect for conscientious campers, who appreciate natural beauty, serenity and quietness away from the bustle of roads & towns. Having said that, its also just 10 minutes from Crowley Lake General Store & 20 minutes from Mammoth.

Ed the Host, was very friendly, full of current information regarding weather and Bear reports, and he kept a very clean campground.
I will definitely be back and will tell others as well.

Nice campground. Wind can be problem for tents, needs to be considered.

Beautiful spot to camp, especially the spots that back up to the creek!

Super clean site! Pretty mountain views. Perfectly situated near places like Convict Lake, Hot Creek, etc. and not too far from Mammoth and Devil's Postpile NM.
