We camped in spot #10 by the creek. the river/creek is controlled by a dam so at times it is high and fast flowing and in the evening it lowered and stopped flowing completely. My kids were able to get in and float when it was stopped, but it would be too fast to swim if flowing. There is definite road noise even by the creek. Showers/bathrooms were much better than I anticipated after reading so many bad reviews. Everything seemed pretty clean.

We were looking for a father and son Fathers Day weekend, and found an excellent tent site at Thunder Rock Campground. We arrived in the dark with rain, but that is camping!! In the morning we had a great view of the Ocoee River, and it was fun to watch rafters come thru throughout the day. The campsite is clean, inviting, has hot showers and great restrooms, and both were very convenient. We highly recommend the campgrounds when tent camping!

The setting by the Ocoee river is beautiful and relaxing, but there are a few concerns that need to be addressed. We stayed at a group site, which oddly had only one picnic tablehardly sufficient for a group booking.Even more concerning was the lack of hand soap in the bathhouses. Basic hygiene shouldn't be optional, especially in shared public facilities. If there are safety concerns with soap containers, installing dispenser systems would be a simple and effective fix.Its important to remember that taxpayer money helps fund national parks and campgrounds like Thunder Rock. As such, it's reasonable to expect basic amenities like adequate seating and proper sanitation.This campground has a lot of potential, but small improvements like these would make a big difference for visitors.

We absolutely love staying at this Campground. The host is absolutely wonderful. Most of the sites are really great. However this was the first time we stayed in site 16. Although it has a really great view of the river is this site tends to flood very easily. All it took was one good thunderstorm and the entire site was filled with two to four inches of water. Stepping out of our camper we had to step into several inches of water. But like I said, the host was wonderful and there was a few vacant sites. She was more than happy to let us move to one of them. As far as I saw, this was the only site that flooded.

Great campground. Clean, quiet, close to activities.

It was a great experience. Beautiful area, we were at site #12 which was right on the water. The only downside was you can hear the traffic from the highway however, our crackling fire and the sounds of the babbling creek drowned it out a bit. The site host was very friendly and helpful as well. Dont forget to bring your own firewood, but you can find sticks around camp for help starting your fire but no firewood available on site to buy. Overall great pick, we will definitely be back!!

We stayed in campsite number 27. The restrooms were clean. The camp host was very pleasant and friendly. A great campground for anyone riding the Smoky Mountain 500.

When I arrived, my spot had been occupied by other campers. This was no big issue thanks to the camp host, Liz. She searched her paperwork again (She had been out the last few days before this) and saw that she had checked old documents. Luckily there were several other spots available for my same stay duration. She then walked me around the campground to view them personally and let me take my pick. Truly the best of a bad situation. Could not thank her enough for her kindness.

My family and I reserved from fryday to monday. We arrived on Saturday and out spot was picked for someone else. We contacted the host and ahe explained to us that we have to check in 24hrs before out check in date. We did not know that. She was very nice and found another camp site for us. So be aware you have to check to keep your camping spot.

Great improvements noted. I think the non flush toilets were cleaned out. Still had a few days of not TP though. Great job on gravel driveway and nice hot water in showers.

The host is there but pretty much nonexistent. Did not know how to check in for a reservation and read everything on the board and still had no clue. I was in site 1 and when i say the rushing water was loud im not joking. No service on att and tmobile. I was there for only an hour and within that time my car was swamped with fire ants and spiders. Plus the site was dirty with rubbish. Clearly the host isnt really a host more a land renter. Site 1 is also located right next to the trail parking so zero privacy and you have to question why am i paying when they dont have too for literally the same kind of spot, if not cleaner. Ended up leaving and staying at cherokee rest stop 15min down the road. Will not recommend or be back to this campground.

The campsite appeared decent, but prior to our stay, a storm had passed through and knocked a branch down into our intended campsite. The hostess did accommodate the selection of a new site. However, the site also did not have potable water due to power failure, and we were not alerted to this situation until arriving. Indubitably, the camp site was in disarray due to the storm, but it would have been nice to be alerted to the lack of potable water before arriving.

Able to see river rafters from camp, very clean and beautiful, site drained well in rain and grounds were peaceful

We love this campground! Well-kept campground. Plenty of nature hikes, Ocoee River is right there and has a park where you can go and play on the rocks! Plenty of kayaking spots if you're into that and its near enough to McKaysville to pick up any essentials you left behind.

Stayed 2 nghts in December, it's a good place to access trails and the Ocoee and still car camp. There was only one other site occupied on the opposite side, but the sites seem pretty close together. I wouldn't camp here during peaks season.Bathrooms clean and well maintained.

Campsite right on the Ocoee River just below powerhouse #3. Host was friendly, campground and restroom were clean.

You wont believe how loud it is. Its so close to a semi truck route. Impossible to sleep more than a few minutes before a downshifting truck blasts into earshot. The campground itself is nice but its ridiculous they would build it so cost to a busy Highway. There are always other campgrounds - stay elsewhere. Your sleep is worth it.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
