We recently stayed at the Oak Knoll campground at New Hogan Reservoir. It was a very nice trip. The staff at the lake we great, the other campers were a bit sparse, but the few who were there were respectful. I would recommend Oak Knoll to anyone.

New hogan is my Favorite get-a-way for nearby enjoyment.However, the weekend crowds and homeless ruin the experience. The cost are low, which bring in the undesirables. And usually the loud, stay up late and party types. Rangers are rarely seen and understaffed, but do what the can ... which is little and never enough. IT'S not on there end, but the STATE itself. So, I cut them slack ... 60 years at this lake and every month noww for 23 months in a row. There are only a few campsites that you can keep far enough away from undesirables ... but when Friday night comes ... no place is safe ... not because of danger, but just because of the fact most people are rude and in considerate to anyone but themselves. This does not apply to everyone, but the overwhelming majority of the weekend crowd or the 40 and under crowd with uncontrolled barking dogs and partiers with loud music blasting of very undiserd noise called Music, with rude obnoxious lyrics.If you can survive through Sunday. things return to Hogan's serine peaceful self, profiding you're not cursed with a buch of homeless scanning the area. Or worse in a campsite next to you.It can be dishearting to have to put up with the lack of patrolling. And the appearance that they just are there opn the job for a paycheck... This doesn't apply to 5 of the rangers ... and there is one male ranger I refuse to talk to, if i Call the office and he answered... I just hang up --- he is worthless.Having said all this, New Hogan is a great place 20 of the 24 hours in the day, you just have no control what 240 of those remaining 4 hours are going to alter your mood, usually in a negative way.If I could avoid the weekenders, and rangers makeing mor rounds and being more proactive ... Hogan could return back to the way it was back in the late 70's befor the Marina burnt down and the State mismanagement of funds.I still love the place and still stay up to two weeks ... but weekends are always unpredictable.

Great camping site and next to the water.

It would have been 4 or 5 stars if the other reservations followed the quiet hour and common courtesy.

We love camping hogan lake because its close to home. Park rangers are always friendly to us. Only downside is the guy and girl campground host are tweakers and going through the trash cans and and hangs out at camp sites that have other tweakers at them.

We enjoyed our stay @ New Hogan Lake. Roads were well maintained, and the campsites were pretty clean. The dump station @ Oak Knoll was clean and well maintained. A couple of good places to eat in Valley Springs and short drive to them.Oak Knoll campgrounds sites are relatively close to the lake and Acorn campground sites are a little higher and not as easy to get to the water from them.Overall, a good stay and we will return.

Great place to camp, close to the water, very short walking distance, everyt8ng was clean (never used the bathrooms so ant speak to that). Only thing that would have been nice is if there more water spigots nears the sites we booked. We have a trailer but next time we'll need to be sure to bring plenty more fresh water. Would definitely camp here again.

The camp host and her husband were awesome, very good people . I have 0 complaints about the hosts. Only thing I would say is maybe clean the bathroom more often but other than that such an amazing place .

This is a lovely campground, but many of the sites do not have shade and I was there on a particularly hot time. I stayed at Site #4 and even thought there are a few trees on the site it was very difficult to stay cool - especially during the later part of the day. Also, the bathrooms had A LOT of bugs in them and it was easily a good 10 degrees hotter in them during the day. A light would be nice too. Finally, the only shower I found was a 5-minute drive away at another campground. All-in-all, it is a beautiful site with a lot of wildlife that visit the campsites daily, but if you want shade and acceptable restroom facilities you might think twice about this place.

Very hot summer spot. Nice wide open, fairly level drive ways with a covered cabana. Nice view of lake from most sites.

Camp site and restrooms were clean. The view from this site was great and it was very close to the water. The sites are very close to each other. I'd go again in a group but not the best place for a solo trip when you're looking for peace and quiet.

Very nice location. The only problem is no shower and the toilet is disgusting.

It was my first time camping here so this rating is based off what I personally didn't like at Oak Knoll. There was hardly ANY shade there, The bathrooms are really dirty, They do not have showers there, and the Lake - if you go out far enough it's probably nice. But if you have smaller kids and you have to be in the shallow part of the lake, be prepared because it's super muddy water.

Friendly staff. Got super hot because we booked during the heat wave so if you want to cool off just jump in the lake. Bring tons of water because gates lock after 10pm and open no later than 8am.

My wife and I stayed there for two nights. The area and views were fine and so was the site. But we had multiple things stolen from us while we walked down to the water. Luckily we had our wallets locked inside our car.

Campsite #14 at Oak Knoll Campground has been my favorite campsite for several years. This time though I noticed a strong stench in the campsite which was not present in the nearby campsites such as #16 (adjacent and downhill from it) and #15 (across the road from #16). People are so careless and rude and inconsiderate. Whatever it was, somebody left something very stinky in #14 for the next people (and the next and the next) to deal with.

People ought to be punished for doing this. Next time I am hoping to reserve #16 or maybe #15 or #12. A campsite nearby.

Good luck campers, and please take care of your campsite!

This is a great place to camp and play in the lake. Keep in mind there’s only a few water spickets and only two bathrooms from what I could see for 30 plus sites, so pack you’re water jugs and if you have a bucket with a toilet seat, bring it. Otherwise the dogs ran around and the kids had a blast. We had pop ups at the water, water toys and kayaks. Others had their boats, jet ski’s and there were tons of fish jumping. The best part…I didn’t hear a generator the entire time and just zoned out at the lake.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
