We reserved two sites next to each other. Once arrived site 41 was not clearly defined, my husband asked the camp host and the Sheriff about how he planned to setup the trailer prior to doing so, and neither had an issue. Later that night in the dark the Rangers show up to say we were not set up in the designated camping spot and demanded he move the trailer. The designated parking spot is grossly advertised as a trailer site. It is not, it is gravel and not paved like the other sites and is no different then pulling off the side of the highway. It was no where near level, and in order to get off the road your door either opened to the road or into their boundary blocks that are so huge the trailer step wouldn't unfold. The misadvertisement of the site was one issue and the way our families were treated by the two rangers was another issue. Our only option was to move or leave, their callous, rude, pushy attitudes almost drove us to leaving, even though we had packed and planned to be there for the weekend with our families, boats and trailers. Hogan used to be one of our favored spots, but because of the way we were treated by the two female rangers on staff our friends and family will not be back for boating or camping!

Basic campground with pit toilets. If you go around the lake a bit to the Acorn Campground, you get flush toilets and showers. There’s a troll that comes down the hill to fight with you about politics. He rides a little scooter and complains that the election was stolen. The lake is so low you need to walk about 1/4 mile to the water, but the water is full of leeches. They don’t hurt you but they’re hard to scrape off if you have a lot of them. If you walk a half mile or so, out to a point, you can get past the leeches. There are signs everywhere saying not to have a fire, but most campers ignore that and have a fire anyways because who really cares if the whole thing burns down, right? Party on! Expect a lot of commercial country and some rap, and lots of classic rock, but not good classic rock, more like Coldplay and Nickelback. I also heard a boat blaring Skrillex who most would agree isn’t music at all. The sites are all tilty. Overall great weekend! But I wouldn’t go there again.
