Oreville Campground is located in the Mystic Ranger District, Black Hills National Forest (39 min southwest of Rapid City, SD) with an elevation of 5,322 feet. There are a total of 17 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid May to the end of September. 14 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 46 and 95 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Fees range from $20.00 to $24.00. Activities include biking, hiking trails.

Great location and very pretty. No cell service but the lodge next door has service. We enjoyed the trails in the area. Jerry Johnson Hot Springs trail was awesome.

This was our third stay at Oreville US Forest Service campground in four years. This time over the Independence Day Holiday. Its an easy drive to Mt. Rushmore, the town of Custer and Custer State Park. Oreville are several fresh water faucets and 2 pit toilets which are kept very clean. Most sites are well shaded. Do check out the site description as some are not very level. There is highway noise during but it does quiet done on the evening. Our unboosted ATT and Verizon signal was adequate for voice and text. Boosted, we had enough bandwidth on ATT to stream.

This campground is way overpriced for being on the edge of a loud highway that can be heard everywhere in the campground. The host hassled us about not have the right lifetime senior pass number even though we showed her the pass and our ID. Weve used the pass in dozens of federal campgrounds with no problem. And $2 a night for our dog? Theres no amenities for dogs so no reason to charge extra for them. This is just a money grab by the private concessionaire. Definitely find a different campground when youre in the area.

Oreville was great! Our site was perfect for our trailer. The host was very helpful. Restroom were the cleanest weve experienced. The campground itself was well maintained. Close proximity to Custer State Park and Mt Rushmore was our reason to choose this campground. It was a great decision. We definitely recommend a stop here if you are in the area.

Great host and nice camping, the only problem is during the day there is a lot of traffic and the road out front is loud. Otherwise it's a nice location.

The campsites were clean and inviting. Even the fire pits were cleaned of all previous debris. Did I mention clean camp sites? Rest rooms nearly sparkled. Heather, the campground host, was absolutely wonderful. Friendly and so very helpful. When any of our friends and relatives consider heading for the Black Hills, we will suggest that Oreville should be their prime consideration as a base of operations. Thank you Heather!
