Nice place. Very well managed. Some noise from the highway at night is a downside. It doesn't have a dump station and water hookup but has a very friendly host that helped me to find one in the region.

Its a wonderful campground that I believe is just the perfect location for a Black Hills adventure. Ive stayed there a few times over the years, the host this summer was not very pleasant but acceptable.

We have a 77 foot set up with fifth wheel and semi-tractor. We choose site 14 because it was a "pull-thru" and was 95' long. We could not get an aerial view of it because Recreation.gov and Google Earth showed too many trees. The campground has a one lane, one-way road that makes a loop. The turns were tight, but doable. However, sites 13 and 14 (the long pull-thrus) were curbside parking, not pull-thrus. That means there is no land between you and the road. You are just pulling over on to the side of the road that has been carved out a little bit. The RV in 13 put out red cones all along the side of their RV to aid in not getting hit. Once we opened our slides, it became unsafe to stay in site 14 as there was a good chance we could have gotten hit by a vehicle driving down the narrow road. And also, the host failed to tell us that we would have to go the wrong way around the loop in order to have our RV door open to the woods and not onto the street. That became a nightmare to get turned around. We had to leave and got a refund. We have a video on this. The campground itself is very nice and we would recommend it to anyone with a small rig, but it is not big rig friendly.

Very very clean, host was exceptional, plenty of room between sites, and a perfect location as a base camp for seeing Rushmore and Custer SP. Will be back. Several water spigots but you can not use a hose. Some sites more level than others. During the day you can hear road noise but it quiets down at night. Liked Hill City. No dump station in campground, but there is a campground nearby you can use for a fee, or a Flying J for free about 39 miles away on your way out.

Oreville is a beautiful campground. The hosts are fantastic. They work hard to keep the grounds and restrooms clean. They were so friendly. We enjoyed our time there so much.

Great campground near many attractions.

Very nice campground and location for seeing the Black Hills. There is potable water but you cannot attach a hose to it to fill your tank. Dumb!
Two issues bothered us....
1. $2.00/night pet fee. Never had this before at a FS campground. Asked the volunteer why? They had no clue. Very odd. Problem we saw with this policy...other pet owners were not pleased and let their dogs crap everywhere. Two piles in our campsite and another while we walked. I think the $2.00 fee is back firing.
2. Road noise is ridiculous from the highway. Reason...the road is concrete and they cut lines into the pavement which are perpendicular to traffic. Creates a high frequency whine. HORRIBLE does not describe it completely. Not the campgrounds fault but good grief. The good thing...the traffic is none existent at night.

Nice site. Good price. Recommend replanting of the several trees that were cut down (probably due to storms) to reduce the noise from the highway. Also provide potable water to refill RVs.

I know most people only look at the 5's and the 1's. I want people to read what I have to say, hence the "1".
1. The "pull-through" sites at Oreville Campground are actually just wide spots in the road. Besides that, the direction you have to go on said road causes trailers to be facing the road rather than the campsite. This means you're stepping out onto the road, the awning is in danger of being hit by other vehicles and if you want to sit outside, you're basically sitting in the road with NO privacy.
2. For some reason, trailers/RV's aren't allowed to put any water into their tanks from the water hydrants in the campground. It would have been nice to know this in advance so we could have been prepared. (We arrived virtually empty since we'd been traveling for a few days.) The camp host, Carl, who was pretty personable, suggested we go get a 5-gal. bottle and a special pump at Walmart in Rapid City (an hour away) to manually fill our tank. How hard would it have been for rec.gov to let us know?
3. The mosquitos are voracious. Come prepared to spray your entire body in order to even walk to and from your vehicle. I had four bites within the first five minutes of arriving.

This is a lovely campground to look at. The constant, high-speed traffic made it impossible to tolerate staying there more than one night. We were supposed to stay for 5 nights, but we left as soon as possible after the first night. The campground host was quite unfriendly as well.
