Waveland Park Campground in Yell County is located 1 hr 15 min east of Fort Smith, AR with an elevation of 437 feet. There are a total of 52 campsites. The campground is open all year. 51 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 18 and 70 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 51 sites have electric and water hookups. 1 site has electric hookups. Fees range from $18.00 to $40.00. Some amenities include shower, dump station, playground, boat ramp, swimming, amphitheater, flush toilets. Activities include boating, fishing, floating sports.
USACE is planning the drawdown in a partnership with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is expected to begin May 1, 2026, when the lake will be lowered to elevation 374. The lake is expected to reach this elevation by July 25, 2026, and will remain at this elevation until Nov. 1, 2026. The lake will gradually return to elevation 384, depending upon rainfall. During phase two of the drawdown, designated swimming areas within the parks will be closed. Boat access will be limited to a temporary ramp located at Ashley Creek Park. Water activities such as skiing, tubing and the use of personal watercraft will be prohibited. Boaters visiting the lake during this time are encouraged to use extreme caution due to shallow water and submerged hazards. We go here every April for crappie fishing and it is always a pleasant experience. The campsites are nice and campers are very friendly.

The park is great for camping and the crappie fishing this year was really good. The bath house was very clean - they did a great job! Only complaint was the trash dumpster - it was overflowing, didnt get emptied and the smell was awful.

Burn ban forced us to cook inside. No fire even for cooking. Water level made for poor fishing. Out of the 5 nights stayed only had one warm shower (showered in hill). Most of issues out of control of park but was disheartened none the less. Very unusual!!

Please work on the drive way to site 50. Make it to where everyone can get an rv in there without dragging the bottom out

Pull through sight was great. Sight is definitely not flat but also easily leveled(4 side ways and prob 6+ front to back.. Great view of water and only close to one camp sight 5 really. We enjoyed it. And easy walk to the shower house.

We stayed at site 3. Great view of the mountain and lake. Boat launch is down below but wasnt any bother. We stayed in a motorhome 27in long and fit with space to put our vehicle behind it. We walked in the morning to see the sunrise by the lake. The sunset was amazing as well. The bathroom facilities were clean and upkept. It was a shirt walk from our site. Overall this campground is quiet, clean, and beautiful! Our family will definitely be back and stay a little longer.

Very pretty and quite beautiful view of the lake nice bathrooms but not to fond of the pad for the camper spot I was in f5 I think and it was a night mare to back into and hard to level it . And we never did see signs that told us which section we were driving through. Lol think we drove through 3 times before we found it but it was also right at dark . But it is a nice place to camp with ur family. And there is nicer spots there just this one not so good, but it had a beautiful view of the lake. And I will camp there again just not in that spot.

Love this site it is very beautiful. A bit tricky to back into but once you get there its totally worth it! Quite campground and the Park Rangers came around often and were very nice.

I have been camping at Waveland park since I was a young child. Our family always enjoys our time together at the park. We feel fortunate to have a beautiful place so close to home.
