The only campground we go with our RV in the summer.

We stayed at Aspen for 2 weeks and had a wonderful time. We liked the proximity to Woods Canyon Lake and enjoyed walking around the campsite and on the paved trail to the lake. The paved pads could be a bit wider and we wish there were electric hookups, but the campground is clean, the campsites are spacious and there is a lot of space between campsites.

The campground is clean and well-marked and is just a 5-minute drive to the lake's parking lot. All huge pluses. We just suffered the consequences of unfortunate timing. There was a fire restriction in place preventing us from having a campfire, and cold wind and clouds blew in as soon as we got to the lake, rendering the canoes we rented for the day useless. Both were major disappointments, but out of the campground's hands.

We LOVE Woods Canyon. Its beautiful scenery, quiet, no reception which we love. Keeps the kids off of their devices lol. We fished and just enjoyed the beautiful outdoors. The store workers are sooo helpful. I locked my keys in my truck and they gave me the tools to get in and get my keys out. They have fantastic attitudes. Kind and just really really good people. We will absolutely be going back there again.

The campground was excellently maintained (just a few rocks-but to be expected, so bring a shovel), the bathrooms kept clean, and the staff were all very nice & friendly. The campground manager (if I recall correctly his name was Harry) even helped us unlock our truck when we were locked out (super nice guy). Extremely nice people and very helpful. The surrounding area was absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful, it made our trip and hikes fantastic. We cant wait to go back again.

Wonderful, large campground that is a short walk to the Lake. Layout of the park provides good distance between most sites. Cell service is very limited but we could do texting, that's all. We were in sites 43 and 45 and would grab them again. You can rent watercraft at the lake but it seemed expensive to us. There is good fishing from the shoreline and you can walk/hike around the lake. Very pretty. We were here over Mother's Day and a day into the following week and we had the park mostly to ourselves. We're almost native to AZ and have been here over the years and love the Rim in general and Woods Canyon Lake.

We were happy to get a reservation on short notice. It was a wonderful time! The campground was busy (early October) so it wasn't very quiet if that's what you're looking for, but we enjoyed the lively atmosphere. Tons of families with dogs and everyone was so friendly. The camp sites are so spacious with plenty of shade. The lake nearby was busy on the weekend, but there's plenty of space to get away!

I loved the fact there was potable water near the campsite, and the toilets were pretty clean too. The lake was fun and super close. Fishing was great fun.

We've been to Aspen campgrounds a few times , we really like it there, and the whole Mogollon Rim area. Had some friends stay there also, they really like the area as well. Hearing wild life, Elk calling , coyotes howling, owls hooting. Pretty quite for the most part. Depends on the time of year. We like the fall time , or just to cool down from the valley heat. Friendly camp host staff. Just enjoying the outdoors ..

Camped there for 1 night, camping site was clean, specially the public restrooms. Walk to the lake was easy with paved trail. Overall it was great experience. Kids enjoyed it.

My friends and I have been reserving sites here for our annual camping trip for the past six years. It's been an awesome experience every time. The campsites are spacious with plenty of shade from trees. The lake is full of fish and we always catch several dozen. We love it and are looking forward to coming again next year.

Amazing trip and great campsite

Restrooms were "less" than clean. Especially compared to previous camp hosting companies. Camp hosts enthusiasm levels were pretty low. I know we are at the end of the season, but "burn out" was really apparent.

Love the area, walking distance to Woods Canyon Lake. The staff at the site are polite, and super helpful. Great place to take your family.

I like this spot because there are quite a few trees - however, the picnic table is too far away from where my tent was set up. The distance to the closest restroom is just a short walk.

Site 17 is amazing so much room. I wish one of the big rocks wasnt by our door of our trailer but other than that loved the site.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Aspen Campground in Payson, AZ, and it was an unforgettable experience. The campground is nestled in the beautiful Tonto National Forest, offering a serene and scenic retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.**Location and Scenery:**The location is absolutely stunning. Surrounded by towering pine trees and with easy access to Woods Canyon Lake, its a nature lovers paradise. The fresh mountain air and the tranquil environment made for a perfect getaway.**Campsites:**The campsites are spacious and well-maintained, providing ample room for tents or RVs. We appreciated the picnic tables and fire rings at each site, which made our stay comfortable and convenient. The campground also has clean restroom facilities, which is always a plus.**Activities:**Theres no shortage of activities at Aspen Campground. We enjoyed hiking along the numerous trails, which offer breathtaking views and a chance to spot local wildlife. Fishing at Woods Canyon Lake was a highlight, and we were lucky enough to catch a few trout. If you enjoy water activities, kayaking and canoeing on the lake are highly recommended.**Recommendations:**- **Hiking:** Dont miss the Rim Lakes Vista Trail for some of the best panoramic views.- **Fishing:** Bring your fishing gear; the lake is well-stocked and a great spot for both novice and experienced anglers.- **Preparation:** The elevation can make the nights quite chilly, even in the summer, so pack accordingly.- **Reservations:** During peak season, its wise to book your campsite in advance as it tends to fill up quickly.Overall, Aspen Campground offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Whether youre looking to unwind in nature or engage in outdoor activities, this campground has something for everyone. We left feeling refreshed and can't wait to return!

Such a beautiful place, nestled into the woods so close to Woods Canyon Lake. Our specific site has quite roomy with several places to put a tent, though we had a small RV. Open Meadows and Forrest behind us. Such a lovely getaway.

This was our 3 time staying at this camp site its a perfect location and clean. This time only problem was the bathroom was infested with flies and when they came to clean the restroom they did not do as good as they have in the past. One time they forgot to put a bag in trash. It was bathroom next to space 49. But other bathrooms were good this was 4th of July weekend so it was busy! But all the workers were very friendly and rest camp site all very clean!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
