We've stayed at Prospector several times and really love the campground and location. The site we stayed in this last time, #100, was probably the worst we have seen at Prospector... Not saying it was HORRIBLE, but the table was basically nonfunctional as it was so rotten and sunken into the ground. I also felt like the fire pit was a bit too close to the table, and both the table and fire pit are too close to the parking spot. It made it really difficult to place our canopy as when we were at the campsite (morning and afternoon/evening), the shade was either in the fire pit or in the parking spot. This campsite could use a little refresh with attention paid to the sun's placement. Will definitely visit Prospector again, just not site 100.

Spaced out camp sites, plenty of bathroom/water access, fire rings, flat ground and access to the reservoir. What more could you ask for?

We across Colorado, and Prospector is a new favthe access to the water, the trails, the wildflowers, the views, the mountain towns but minutes away. What is not to love?

Great place to get away from everything and relax in the beautiful outdoors. Nice big campsites.

This is a wonderful campground with trail access to a Dillon lake cove. Clean bathrooms, and groomed camp sites. Hosts are nice and helpful. Im going back for 3 days in August.

So pretty! Just a 5-10 minute walk from the lake. All the other campers were pretty respectful of space and noise. We will be returning soon!

My family loves this quiet picturesque campground! It is in a great location for easy access to hiking and lake activities.

Beautiful views. Clean campsites. Forest area that the kids loved to explore. 15 minute walk to the beach. Campsites are nicely spaced for some privacy. Would definitely stay here again. Stayed in site 102.

Spacious sites in a tranquil environment. Larger RV's need to be sure they will fit in specific sites,

Great place for group camping! We get 2 to 3 sites in a row or zig-zag across the road and it makes a great gathering place. Quick trips to Dillon, Frisco, or Breck give it extra activities. Walk to the lake or drive around to multiple put ins for paddle boarding. Sites vary, but many are in young trees, and quite a few large sites too. Pull through and back in make it work for all size campers. Bike trails too. Firewood wasn't available our last trip, but usually the host has it. Bathrooms needed some love this trip as well.

Campground is stunning with access to the lake and trails you can hike or mountain bike. Downside about this campsite specifically is its quite open, close to entrance so a bit on display and it was a struggle to find a flat spot for a tent. Id recommend loop D or part of Loop E that is closer to the lake.

Campsite was nice. We got lucky as our site had lots of trees and privacy unlike many of the others. There was no lake access.

Very well laid out. Plenty of space in between lots. Loved the peacefulness.

Always enjoy our time here. Great for families, amenities are well maintained, easy hike to lake front, pizza 10 minutes away should dinner not work out. We come back every year!

Love the camp site, well spaced sites, beautiful views, the only negative is the dust, the roads are really bad in and out of campsite and around the loops, peopke should be aware when driving that driving slower keeps the dust down.
@ScottH7806643 · Camped on Jun 26, 2025 at Campsite #2
The womens showers only released cold water. Who wants to take a cold shower? And there was only 1 shower house open.

Great campsite cleanliness. Big campsites.
@WalterV1931394 · Camped on Jun 22, 2025 at Campsite #71
Great place for camping!!!It has no easy access to the lake if youre planning kayak or boating. But still can enjoy the lake activities for no more than a 5 minutes drive.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
