Great campsite. Quiet, secluded. One can hear the river flowing at night.

Very nice sites , large and private! 3.5 miles from Aspen! Water was working at all hydrants in Mid September and taste was great. No T mobile service. No TV signals, ! radio station so, bring your Star link!

Such a beautiful campground, with lots of space between sites and super-clean restrooms. Our site (30) was level, with a sweet stream running behind it. Paved roads in the campground. Close, clean vault toilets and water spigots. A gem, and thank you to the hosts and whoever else helps keep this campground pristine.

Clean, well spaced sites, 5 minutes a way from the city of Aspen and absolutely affordable.

Beautiful campground, spaces are far enough apart that you feel you have ample privacy. Very quiet even on a holiday weekend! Great trail all the way into town that we biked several times. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful! However, no cell or Internet service via Verizon (it's about 3/4 of a mile towards Aspen before we had Verizon service), but Starlink worked great. Also, we failed to check ahead of time, our mistake and discovered there was a fire ban. Good idea to check, so you're prepared. We'll be back! Only complaint is that it is so hard to get into this site if you would like to stay for several days.

Great little campground very close to Aspen. In fact, the only campground close to Aspen. Sites are very level and well laid out. Nice little stream on one side, and towering mountains on the other. Pit toilets.

While the campground is close to the town of Aspen, the sites are on the smaller side and also quite unlevel.

Host was very helpful and camping spot was perfect.

We have camped at this campground multiple days at multiple sites. Certain sites are better than others. Some 1-night-only site had people coming in super late and there was a big group that was noisy until late night. Otherwise, this is a nice location and has all the camping facilities we need.

The campground hosts, Rebecca and Lauren, were truly two of the best ever! They helped make our time there a great experience! The campground and bathrooms were so well maintained and the two of them were out and about all the time checking in on campers! Difficult is a beautiful campground and close to hiking trails and Aspen! Can't wait to return!

The website description said our reserved site #36 could handle a trailer up to ~36" (our trailer is 34" long), but there is NO WAY anyone is going to maneuver a trailer into that spot because the road is not wide enough to swing the truck and trailer combination into that spot. The opposite side of the road was lined with large boulders to prevent anyone from driving off the pavedment, so it was impossible to move the trailer in. The website description should indicate that. BUT the camp host were so accommodating because they managed to switch us with another guest, so we didn't have to turn around and go home. Also, you did not inform us that we would not be allowed to fill our fresh water tank in our RV with water, the camp host said that decision was made a couple weeks before we got there, but when we made our reservation months ahead of time, there was nothing on the website saying that there was no water available.I'm giving a 3-star rating because the hosts were heros getting us into a spot that would work for us.

We loved this campground. Our site #35 had a short path right to the river. You could hear it all night, we got the BEST sleep. This site was plenty big compared to the others. We will be back!

The best thing about this campground is its proximity to Aspen. The campground itself is not in very good condition. The sites are not level and are very lumpy. There is very little gravel and there are weeds growing on the ground in the sites. It isnt the campground hosts, they are doing a great job and the bathrooms are clean. The campground was just in surprisingly bad shape compared to others weve stayed in.

Don't expect to find showers, groceries or anything affordable in town! So come prepared to hunker down. You will want a site with shade, as summer months are hot. Spotted Moose, along with signs of bear activity. Great jumping spot for the Maroon Bells shuttle. Highway 82 is a beautiful drive. Nice community walking path along the highway that you can pickup near the entrance to the campground. If you walk toward town on the path, there is a beautiful boardwalk great for spotting wildlife.

Great private spot for tent camping with fire pitsand picnic tables at each camp site. Wood can be purchased at the market in Aspen Colorado just up the road about 10 miles.

HEAVY BEAR MOVEMENT. Our first night we stayed in #47, great spot a little narrow, might be a little challenging backing in a camper but we have a rooftop tent so it was a nice size for our set up. lots of tree coverage so slightly obstructed view, surrounded by berry bushes. A bear actually wandered right into our camp while we were sitting around playing cards. AMAZING! Our second night we stayed in #29, much wider space, more open with great views, still had decent coverage from the afternoon sun. Whole campsite was very well maintained, the paved roads were nice, the bathrooms were clean and somehow smelled nice which is weird for a vault toilet. Its not far from town, quick little drive, or there is a gravel path along the road to walk or bike. Camp hosts are very warm and welcoming, always making rounds on their golf carts and checking on things. Personally have zero desire to visit Aspen again, but if we do, we will definitely be staying at this campground again!

We are not from Colorado so the check in is different from Texas. In Texas we check in with the ranger but I guess in CO there is a camp host and no check in is needed. She was quite unhelpful as we were trying to get the lay of the camp ground. The signs for water are not clearly labeled as potable water. Bring cash or a check for firewood and do not expect much guidance from the camp host. We discovered the trail head to Difficult Trail- there are not trail maps available and we did not have cell service. The area is beautiful and the trail was great and easy access to independence pass with more trails. We had a great time, just needed to figure things out since its different from Texas and the website through recreation.gov does not provide these details either. Oh! Bring sanitizer, wipes or soap for the bathroom- there are no sinks, just a port-a-potty structure.We would recommend and would come back, Judy hoping these tips will help someone else!

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
