We LOVE this campsite and feel it is the best one out of the four in this ring (and maybe all of Maroon Bells). There is a very short walk down to the river, which has a fallen log creating a short waterfall. This also creates "white noise" such that you don't hear the people at other campsites. The Rangers were friendly and the vault toilet restroom was exceptionally clean. We also had more shade during the day than other sites (but note that it's not complete shade all day). To help others understand the 4 sites... Site #1 is very secluded and off by itself, but farthest from the river. Site #2 and Site #3 are closer to the river, and have tent pads that are fairly close together, and people have worn a path between them, so this would be good for booking with others you know (but it is not horrible if stangers are there). Site #2 has access to the river, but not as easy as site #3. Site #4 is more off on it's own, but it is most visible from the parking lot (unlike site #1), and while you can walk to the river, it's not as open of an area (compared to site #3). This is bear country and bear boxes are provided BUT you have to put everything that has a scent into them when you leave for the day AND at night, so plan your packing acccordingly! This is also a "walk in" site, but the path from the parking is maybe 20 paces, if that, so it was very easy to carry our stuff in. There is a parking fee at the entrance but that allows you to drive and park up at the Maroon Bells scenic area.

Nice isolated feeling campsite despite being close to the road and the welcome kiosk. Lots of trees.

Nice little campsite right at the entrance to maroon bells. Everything is well kept. Clean bathroom. The site is surrounded by lots of plant growth which makes it feel more secluded but also a bit cramped. Great for a small group. The path is also surrounded by plants so you cant see your car from the site. We liked the river close by that have soothing water sounds.

This is great spot with shade and access to the creek , huge bear lockers to protect food and trash. A nice space away from the other campsites. Buy yourself an America the beautiful pass. Plus trailhead parking will be available during your stay.

Great spot to beat the crowds to Maroon Bells. The area designated for tent is big enough for two small tents. The area has a vault toilet, fire pits and picnic tables.

Site 2&3 were both a bit of a walk in site, although absolutely beautiful. Site 2 had a private shaded wilderness path to the creek. I do wish it had water, but I would absolutely stay again!!

All of my reservation information and the information online states checkin and checkout is 2 PM. The local staff insisted it was 11 AM and kicked us out of the site promptly at 11 AM, and very rude and aggressively. There seems to be a disconnect on the information provided by recreaction.gov and the local staff.

Much quieter than silver bell and more privacy. Definitely the more preferred out of the 2

Nice private location (campsite #1) convenient to Maroon Lake hiking with parking privileges at the lake. Porta potty was clean. Creek is nearby so you can hear that at night -- very quiet as USFS restricts traffic to shuttle buses during the day and restricts parking at night at the lake by advance permit. For summer stays, I advise booking this at least five months in advance on Recreation.gov (six months to the day if you can; cancellation is always an option)

At site 1. We were van camping (22 ft). The allotted space for parking worked great. The grass on the path leading to the site was very tall. The site was tucked in the forest with a sense of seclusion. With all of the rain & plant growth it was probably damp with a lot of bugs. The flowers bloom like madness in the Spring. & Summer. Nice time.

This is one of my favorite campgrounds I have visited in Colorado. The maroon bells are beautiful and this campsite is the perfect mix of remote while still having your basic amenities. Highly recommend hitting the Maroon bells early in the morning, the parking lot fills up really quick. We got one of the last spots in the main lot around 8am. You have to walk a little to the tent pad for this site but totally worth it for the quiet and privacy.

Gorgeous small campground with 24/7 access to Maroon Bells. Right on the creek, and a downed tree has created a small waterfall. Bring your own water and please use bear boxes. Pit toilet was clean and maintained every day. Campsite 3 has the best access to the creek. Tent pad was just big enough for 2 2-person tents.

We stayed for 3 nights and only ever saw 1 of the other 3 sites occupied for 1night at a time. It practically felt like we had the place to ourselves! (The ranger staff told us some people come in only for a few hours at night to sleep.) The entry for the campsite is literally to the left of the ranger station, almost even before it (we drove up and back before finding it). The staff was very friendly and helpful! Just 2 things to note: there is no firewood available on site, and only space for one tent on the camping pad (you might be able to get away with 2 one person tents). The ranger staff directed us up the road (once you get down to the traffic circle) to a market near the Aspen airport that sells boxes of firewood, and actually a number of healthy foods. It was wonderful to have the parking permit included for an extra $10 in the camping reservation, which allowed us easy access to the Maroon Bells trailhead. Would highly recommend the spot if you're able to book it!

Beautiful campground and no RV or trailer spots, which is great because they are some of the loudest people on Earth with their gas generators. A great way to do Maroon Bells, just a heads up, there's no water available, so make sure to bring your own.

I am in love with this campground. Right by a roaring stream, I fell asleep easily each night. The reservation includes a parking pass at Maroon Bells, which was perfect. The site has a nice sized bar locker. My cooler fit perfectly inside. I would love to camp here again.

Secluded campsite with nice off parking pitches for tents and great fire pits and benches. Bins empties each day and the toilet was clean and filled with toilet paper. Couldnt have asked for more.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
