Nice site, very friendly host. The only minus is the showers are very limited.

The Russel Pond campground was great, it's super clean, the campsites are well maintained and the facilities were clean and well maintained. The loons in the lake set a relaxing tone and it was a pretty quiet visit even the week of Labor Day. A few shower locations weren't working which meant trekking across the campground to shower, but going in the morning there was no one else there. Definitely bring a sleeping pad if you are tent camping as there are rocks all over the ground on the campsites. Super convenient location to drive to Franconia Notch, Lincoln, or down the Kancamagus highway to Conway/North Conway without being right in the mix of everything.

Almost everything was perfect - sites were beautifully wooded and well spaced. The only negative was the bathrooms. More than half of the bathrooms and showers were out of order.

Peaceful, spacious, clean. Perfect place to sleep and watch the stars.

Showers werent working, which is part of why we chose this location as we were doing an all day hike and wanted to shower after. Most of the bathrooms were out of order as well. People were partying into the night despite the campground having signs saying quiet hours were 10 pm to 8 am. The campsite next to us ended up sleeping in the car because of this.

The campsite that we had was great however bathroom and shower facilities are even worse than last year. One shower for the entire campground, most bathroom stalls were closed, only one sink was useable. On top of that the cleanliness is awful. It seems like only toilet paper is changed and the floor is wiped down. The bathroom walls and doors are all covered in grime, never wiped down at all. Cobwebs fill the entire area. And nothing is worse than walking down to your bathroom and every stall is closed so you walk to the next bathroom where there is 1 stall open with a line outside of it waiting to be used.

All but one of the campground showers were not working. Many of the toilets in the bathrooms were also broken. One of the bathroom/shower houses was completely closed, with two portapotties outside. The closest working bath/shower house near our campsite had only one working toilet (out of three) in the ladies room and both of the showers were broken. The sites themselves were clean.

I have been camping at Russell Pond for over 15 years. This year was such a disappointment. One bathhouse completely closed with two port-a-potties outside. The bath house by the pond only had ONE working female toilet.. the other two had trash bags over them, and ONE Single shower working. This was the ONLY SHOWER IN THE ENTIRE CAMPGROUND OPERATING. This made showering almost impossible with long line forming each time I attempted to shower. The bath house near the camp host, had two working female toilets and NO showers. No handsoap in any bathroom and no purell in port-a-potty. I am fine going with nature, but i was not prepared for no shower and next to no toilet availability. I strongly believe this should have been emailed to guest so they could bring supplies. I love this campground but this was very disappointing this year. What are the plans for fixing? As I said i've been coming here 15+ years. Each summer we have 3-4 campsites of friends booked, unfournately next year they want to look elsewhere :(

Beautiful site. Very clean and management was very nice. They also have the best firewood in town right on site.

AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We have stayed at Russell Pond 4 times (for 1-2 weeks each) in the last 7 years. This was BY FAR the worst experience. We were there for two weeks (Wed to Wed) through the end of July.The facilities are in desperate need of repair. There was one shower working in the ENTIRE campground. Many of the bathrooms are closed entirely. The women's bathroom by the pond had only one (of 3) toilets and one (of 2) sinks functioning.The host (singular; she told us she was the only one) struggled to keep up. On at least two occasions (both Saturdays, I believe) the bathrooms by the lake were completely out of toilet paper. There are so few bathrooms to clean and there's not a lot of turnover on Saturday, so it was mind boggling to me that keeping up with supplying the bathrooms was an issue. We've seen hosts in prior years rake and thoroughly clean sites between guests. The only thing this host did between guests was empty the fire pit. The 'host not available' sign always seemed to be up, even when the TV was on in the camper and it reeked of marijuana.On one of the weekends, we speculated that the host put her friends in the site formerly occupied by another host (E4; water and electric on site). She was always there hanging out and had unlocked the electric box for them to use. We often caught whiffs of marijuana. The group that occupied the site had a dog barking nonstop, which the host did nothing about even while there. The icing on the cake is when somebody needed to back a camper into the site across the way (E3), they gently moved a broken down tent on E4 out of the way so they could make the turn into their site with the camper. Afterwards, we witnessed the host moving the tent (or cleaning it up) while YELLING at the site/camper across the way in a profanity-laced rant. Luckily, the family (with young children) that occupied E3 was not there to hear the craziness.Small thing, but there was never wood available for purchaseDisappointed

Very pretty, well maintained, and spacious campsite under hard woods. This site was a short set of stairs away from the restroom.
@DeborahR772108 · Camped on Jul 11, 2025 at Campsite #D10
It was a well spaced campground, quiet and everyone was friendly. The downfall was the facilities, most of the showers were closed, only one open for the entire campground, one toilet out of three were open in the D loop. The facilities could use an update. It was close to downtown N. Woodstock and Lincoln, and great hiking trails!

We only spent one night there on the way back from the Maritime provinces, but it was very nice, quiet and clean.

Nice location for access to town and the National Forest amenities. Forest Service needs to address the 7 out of 8 showers being broken. Personally unacceptable. On a holiday weekend with a full camp and only one working shower is not acceptable. (And one whole bathroom complex out of commission).

it is a shame such a beautiful and normally well appointment campground has deteriorated over the years. yes we're those tent campers that for years have enjoyed a hot shower and clean working bathrooms while enjoying our stay. Can management please update us/ Web site when bathrooms and plumbing plan to be repaired?
@Ghislaine24986 · Camped on Jun 30, 2025 at Campsite #E14
The campground is going downhill! Only one shower works out of four! Toilets and faucets don't work, spigots don't work, and there's an extreme lack of toilet paper!

Campground was not very crowded and we were the only ones in our small spur. Our spot had a great little waterfall that gave off the best sound in the quiet night. Bathrooms and showers were clean but a bit of a walk. Bring quarters for the shower. The mountain pond was pretty cool but we did not boat or swim on this trip. Woodstock was a neat town with some shops, restaurants and breweries about 25 minutes away.

Excellent experience. Site should state when booking that there is no dish washing facility so campers can prepare correctly.

Beautiful campground. Clean. Amazing atmosphere and location! Cool fresh air being up so high in elevation. My primary concern is serious though: the water from the spigots was non-potable and needed to be boiled before use. That was concerning so we were forced to conserve water or change dinner/cooking plans as a result of the contaminated water. I hope this is fixed before next season.

Due to end of season some of the toilets and showers were out of order and the water sources were contaminated with e.coli

Very quant and lovely park. It would be nice if the broken handicap sink in the men's room was repaired as well as the second sink in the ladies room.

The Russell Pond Campground region is one of my favorite places in the world! Well kept and simple. It's almost the same now as it was in the 1970's, and that is what makes it great. My parents loved it, my siblings loved it and now my kids love it.

The campsite seemed nice at first glance but after a weekend there I dont think we will be returning. The bathrooms closest to us only had one working toilet and the showers were both out of service. After speaking to other people we found out every single shower except one was out of service. Additionally there was no sound insulation from the trees; you could hear every other campsite, even those decently far away.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
