Alway love camping at Spruces! They have everything you need for everyone from campsite close to each other to one's more isolated. Have gone here for years and will continue to for many more!

The camp ground is beautiful. The camp hosts were nice, I just wish there was some sort of schedule as to how often they come around. We had a hard time tracking them down to get firewood even though we were two camp sites away. There was drinking water available but no restrooms, only porta potties. They were very clean on Friday but were getting a little full Sunday. Campsite 71 was beautiful and private. No back in, so not a great spot for trailers or car camping. There were two parking spaces perpendicular to the camp site. There was a slight hill to bring things back and forth, so a wagon is recommended for hauling stuff. Space for two tents. Access to river. The bees were a little annoying, there seemed to be a little underground next in the site, but the smoke from a fire helped. You could hear cars from the highway but the river drowned it out at night. Overall, great experience with this campground and campsite. I would definitely recommend and come back again.

Flush toilets are not functioning. Port-a-potties in place.

THE RESTROOMS HAVE BEEN LOCKED ALL SUMMER AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NO ONE WORKING ON FIXING THE PROBLEM WITH THE SEWAGE SYSTEM. WE LOVE GOING TO THE SPRUSES AND HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR MANY YEARS.SOME OF THE SITES ARE RESERVED SO NO ONE CAN USE THEM AND THE PE0PLE NEVER SHOW UP.THERE SHOULD BE AN ACCOUNTABLE SYSTEM THAT WOULD WORK BETTER.

Great campground near lots of nice hiking. There was no running water when we were there but it was not a big deal---the port-o-potties were very clean. We have a large tent--our site had an ample area for setting it up but we would have had trouble fitting it into some of the sites we walked past.

For Site #80 - The listing and the map are inaccurate. The site is not a back-in or even a pull-through, it is just a wide spot in the loop road with the camper door opening to the road. My pillow was a few feet from every car that passed by. If we hadn't been able to turn the camper around, then it would have been dangerous for my kids to enter/leave the camper. We were able to make it work, but the misleading listing and photo are unacceptable. Site #80 should be listed as a tent only space. Other than the parking, the site is fine and standard for the campground. Picnic table and fire pit in good condition. Big trees. Semi-connected to neighboring site to the north. Campground is nice and quiet. Canyon road is not quiet. Bathrooms were well maintained.

This is a great campground up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Unfortunately, this year drinking water was unavailable and the plumbed bathrooms were locked so bathroom use was limited to port-a-potties.

Non working bathrooms because they don't want to fix a water leak is very inconvenient
@AlishaN0537B5A · Camped on Jul 25, 2025 at Campsite #44
Bathrooms were all closed with no explanation, and there didnt seem to be any work towards restoring them. Port-a-potties were not maintained, and one at the bathroom nearest us was literally overflowing (refuse to the lid). Its camping, I get it, but the conditions were pretty dosappointing.Quiet hours were not observed or enforced by the camp hosts, with loud rowdy groups keeping our family awake into the morning hours.We saw 2 moose which was very cool, otherwise a pretty disappointing couple of nights.

The yurt was nice and Bobbi was very friendly. She told us to expect moose in the morning & we did see them the first day. We enjoyed setting up chair & a hammock along the stream.

Love this campground and hosts were great but the campground itself needs a little love. Picnic tables need serious help and brush around fire pits need to be cleared back for safety reasons and so you can put chairs around it . There were a lot of deadfall trees all around our site 66 that made it hard to walk around trails.

Very beautiful campground and campsite. Contrary to the description, this is not a full shade campsite. Bring an EZUP for the picnic area and you'll be fine. The restrooms were out during our stay and they had porta-pottys instead. If that's a dealbreaker, just know there are flush toilets and running sinks just 8 minutes up the canyon at Silver Lake by Brighton. Lifesaver for our 8 year old. The picnic area is about 40 feet downhill from the parking spot--it's not a terribly steep incline, but it IS an incline. The main tent area is just next to the parking area--easy access. There is a second tent site down below by the picnic area that can easily accommodate a 6-8 man tent. Be Aware: Big Cottonwood Creek is directly accessible to this campsite so beware if you have little ones. It was pretty shallow during our stay but, I've seen it much higher and swifter at other times. I'd choose an different site if I had littles. There is no wading. Overall, it's a nice camping spot and we were very comfortable during our 3 night stay.

We reserved a camping space at Spruces in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Salt Lake City Utah. The staff had our reservation posted and ready for us. The site was spotless, the air was cool and the hot dogs and marshmallows were yummy

First, the good. The site itself was beautiful and immaculate. There was evidence of recent maintenance on the tables and benches, which we appreciated. The fire pit was great, as was the grill. The park staff were helpful and friendly. Now for the complaints. There was no running water, a circumstance that we were not notified of prior to our arrival. Also, with no advance notice, the restrooms were out of commission and we instead had to use portable toilet booths, which was a significant problem for my disabled sister-in-law. There were light poles and fixtures at the perimeter of the site, which did not come on at dark as we expected, based on past years of reserving group sites. I feel that for the price we paid, these were significant issues that warranted at minimum, a discounted rate until corrective action was taken to bring the facility up to the advertised condition. Instead, the rates have gone up.

This year...I was a bit hesitant about staying at Spruces since there were portable toilets...however, the toilets were always very clean! (I would suggest putting more portable toilets at each bathroom site and not so close together!) Our stay was very good and the campground was well kept by the campground hosts. We met several of the campground hosts (Olivia, Chuck, and others) who were friendly and were diligent about keeping things clean. We were fortunate that the water was working during our visit. We love site #61. Nearby, there are great hiking trails and we saw a few moose during our stay. Overall, a very good family camping experience.

It was great. The toilets werent working this week we went so we had to use honey buckets. Clean. Semi- quiet. Nice crew.

The site itself was fantastic. Very private with a lovely spot right on the creek. Unfortuantely during our stay there was a water problem and so portapotties were placed and there was no running water at all. Luckily we came prepared with plenty of potable water, but it did affect our enjoyment of the site.

The biting flies were bad again this year and the rest rooms were closed with Honey buckets which detracted from the camping experience.
@DavidS3927304 · Camped on Jul 13, 2025 at Campsite #93
OVerall the campground was great, but we were disappointed to find the restroom facilities (site wide) were not open while we were there - with porta-potties provided instead - but this was not mentioned in any of the online information provided.

Great view and scenery. We came at a difficult time of year for flies. Staff was great.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
