Very beautiful campground and campsite. Contrary to the description, this is not a full shade campsite. Bring an EZUP for the picnic area and you'll be fine. The restrooms were out during our stay and they had porta-pottys instead. If that's a dealbreaker, just know there are flush toilets and running sinks just 8 minutes up the canyon at Silver Lake by Brighton. Lifesaver for our 8 year old. The picnic area is about 40 feet downhill from the parking spot--it's not a terribly steep incline, but it IS an incline. The main tent area is just next to the parking area--easy access. There is a second tent site down below by the picnic area that can easily accommodate a 6-8 man tent. Be Aware: Big Cottonwood Creek is directly accessible to this campsite so beware if you have little ones. It was pretty shallow during our stay but, I've seen it much higher and swifter at other times. I'd choose an different site if I had littles. There is no wading. Overall, it's a nice camping spot and we were very comfortable during our 3 night stay.

We reserved a camping space at Spruces in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Salt Lake City Utah. The staff had our reservation posted and ready for us. The site was spotless, the air was cool and the hot dogs and marshmallows were yummy

It was great. The toilets werent working this week we went so we had to use honey buckets. Clean. Semi- quiet. Nice crew.

The biting flies were bad again this year and the rest rooms were closed with Honey buckets which detracted from the camping experience.

OVerall the campground was great, but we were disappointed to find the restroom facilities (site wide) were not open while we were there - with porta-potties provided instead - but this was not mentioned in any of the online information provided.

Great view and scenery. We came at a difficult time of year for flies. Staff was great.

The restrooms are closed, with no indication when, or if they will be reopened.

We love camping in this yurt! Lots of trees so its nice & shady. Also perfect for hammocks! The little stream going through the site is a nice touch too! We look forward to more canning trips here!

Fly city during the day. Ive stayed at a lot of different spots here and this one was pretty bad with the flys. It was near a swamp part of the creek where the water spreads out and slows down. It was also right next to the dumpster and restrooms. During the night no problem with flys. Only during the day

We got lucky and were able to grab a site when someone left early. What a beautiful campground! Many sites (ours included) have so much privacy and space. Quiet! Well managed and kept up beautifully,

Beautiful, peaceful setting with creeks running through.Friendly, helpful personnel - Forest service, camp hosts, Recreation.gov staff

The bathroom situation ruined the trip. The primary bathrooms were entirely closed with portable toilets as replacements that were overflowing with waste and toilet paper. Such a waste of a beautiful space. An avoidable situation.

The campground is beautiful and we loved our spot, but they did not give enough of a heads up about the fact that there is absolutely no water. Just porta potties. Thankfully we were in a trailer, but the other families around were all in tents and some ended up leaving early due to the lack of water, or were local and had to go home overnight and enjoy the site only during the day. Also, we were specifically told that parking on the road out in front of the campground was fine - theyre not ticketing but my mom and dad came up to the campground to visit us for the day and left with a $150 parking ticket. We asked the camp host and they said this was the first theyd heard of it and that theyd talk to the sheriff. But that doesnt do my parents much good. Unfortunately it really soured the whole experience.

We stayed in a glamping tent it was perfect for our family. We took our kiddos and it was so nice not having to worry about setting anything up, everything was ready to go. And the campground was quiet and peaceful. We also hiked to Lake Mary which I highly recommend. Such a beautiful trai! Overall we had a great experience.

We normally love staying at Spruces, however, we weren't told before arriving that a water pipe was broken and therefore there was no available drinking water. What was even worse the only available facilities to use were Honey Buckets. We had planned to stay for four nights and only stayed for one.

Campsite was clean.Bathrooms were clean.Guests and staff were respectful. It was great!Some hand soap in the bathrooms would be a nice touch. They charged $15 more per extra car, seemed nickel dimey.

The bathrooms are shut down and only have portable toilet .Water wasnt consistently on. No notice beforehand. Camp ground host didnt know what was going on or how long the problem would last. Didnt see any work going on to resolve the issue. We pay enough in camping fees to expect a little better upkeep.
@LauraA6708484 · Camped on Jun 24, 2025 at Campsite #53
Our site had a fallen tree across the area that wouldve been a tent site. And the table was bent over so that the surface was on an angle. We had to scramble to find a way to stay close to our familys other camp site and it was frustrating. The fallen tree should have been removed by whomever felled it (Im assuming the Forrest service). Or our assigned site #53 should not have been listed as an available site (the parking was not even long enough for a trailer so its not possible to camp in a tent or trailer).

The site was great. Unfortunately bathrooms were out of order when we got there and the water was shut off.

Such a wonderful campground with the best hosts. We had a quiet and peaceful weekend. The toilets are all locked but the porta potties were very clean.
@JordanS9337574 · Camped on Jun 19, 2025 at Campsite #49
Site 049 was great, very secluded and couldnt hear or see anyone from the site, and just enough space for an 8 person tent (easily could do 2-3 tents if smaller as well). Only consideration is the table/pit is about 50 yards from the car with some incline so be aware of that if u need plug access for inflatable beds n such, youll be walking a bit back n forth but still worth it! Beautiful area and farther from the road so not noisy at all.

We like the convenience of the Spruces. Its close to home but still gets us up in the mountains. Nice flush toilets (except there was a problem with them while we were there and they had to bring in honey buckets). The only thing that is becoming a problem is that there is stinging nettle everywhere; big plants lining the roads. I keep hoping theyll cut it down. Its worse than last year.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
