Shelter 18 is a beautiful location. Great view. Rocky path to a swim and fish area. The park has tons of wildlife. The shelter is big and clean. With that being said, the shelter needs A LOT of work. Im sure this shelter is used more than the others because of its location. The screens are torn up really bad. People have tried to duct tape and cover but its too bad and screens need to be replaced. we could not keep bugs out. We killed 5 scorpions one night. Due to lots of heavy rain we slept in the shelter because our tents would have flooded. There is no grill, it broke and was never replaced. This shelter is really far from the bathroom but I felt the view and water access made it worth it.

We were very disappointed in the upkeep of the park. The grass was tall and not mowed and in the other campsites occupied by my brother and sister in law, the grass burrs were awful. The pets couldnt even walk in the grass. My brother in law had to go get his lawnmower to mow and he let several other campers use it too.

The trees are in dire need of trimming in lofers west. We have replaced two roofs on our rv. The only place we camp is lofers west. And up with the road next to water being closed. I have a feeble husband that enjoys the water. It takes a lot to get him to the water.

No customer service. The grass was not mowed - stickers were plenty and the shelter was in horrible shape. The fan and electric did not work. And no one was available for customer service or able to fix it. I would like a probated refund - the experience was horrible !

This lake, Whitney Campground has become my favorite. The park is well kept and beautiful and the lake is amazing. I would recommend this park to anyone looking for a good Campground , kayaking and boating.

No supervision in the park. People had reunions. Parking a problem on grass and street. For the majority of the people in the park, we are the one inconvienced, too noisy to watch tv in rv. no spraying for grassburs. trees need trimming.

The facilities were not taken care of, in the fact that the bathrooms were out of toilet paper for several days. They werent cleaned or swept until a co-camper notified the home office. The lack of security had strangers come in at will and there was a family on our reserved spot. The general maintenance has been neglected and all restrooms in the park were unfit.

Great campsite with the perfect amount of privacy. Were a lot of ants near the water but didnt seem to bother us!

There was never anyone at the gate. The bathrooms needed attention lights where out and no toilet paper. Could only het one toilet to flush and then it continued to flush for I don't know how long as I left it after several minutes. Went to the day area to take showers as it wasuch cleaner.

We love Lofers West, spend every holiday there in the summer. We were there over Memorial Day and the gravel part of our site (as well as others) was almost completely covered in grass/weeds. Also, we want our gate attendants back, please!!!!

Beautiful lake, grass was tall for the first week we were there, they mowed it the next weekend, a few days before Memorial Day. They do not have gate people during the day, to monitor who comes in and out. So you do not feel safe using the public restrooms and showers. I hope that the park goes back to having the gate people. They did a wonderful job, and were good ambassadors for the park system. We have young children and pets, elderly people and need a safe place to go.

We stayed in site 61 and loved it. It is super hard to get into because of the bathrooms across the road. We will choose a different site next time.

No gate attendant when checking in and we were not advised that the gate would be locked at 10 pm. We exited the campground about 6 pm to return just after 10:00 to locked gates and requested the park host to open the gate and he refused and we had to walk to the far end of the campground. Restrooms were not updated with toilet paper during our stay from 12/31/24 to 1/3/25.

Nice park, our site had a nice view. Park employees doctored a couple of fire ant beds in our camp when we showed them. Nice people.

Host are amazing and very knowledgeable an helpful. Trees could use trimming and stickers are bad for pets and kids. Bathrooms are clean and camp sites where clean. This is one of our favorite parks to camp.

Loafers west is our favorite place to camp. Always clean. Lots of space between campers. Most sites have a water view.

My girlfriend and I stayed at site W17 on November 15-17. This is a "primitive site" with water only, but it is directly across from a group site with a covered building. Lesson learned, don't camp next to a group site unless you are prepared for very loud partying people with loud music. The building directly across from us was site 18 and had about 10 people there listening to loud music and the Tyson fight until all hours of the night. They are supposed to be quiet at 10pm. They then got up at 8am and proceeded to drink mimosas and play loud music again. I didn't get any sleep, so my girlfriend and I left the park a night early. There were no rangers patrolling and I did not feel comfortable confronting the group for fear of getting knifed in the middle of the night. I spoke to a really nice lady at the project office, Lee Whitley, and she provided some advice for the future on how to handle this kind of situation and offered a refund.

Its been 2 years since Ive been to the campground. Since then the mens shower closest to the main gates have really gone down hill. I was not able to get any hot water and the shower heads/valves were very leaky. Was forced to use the other showers by the RV parking. My next gripe is not so much the campsites fault but a camper in the next cove over from me that felt the need to bring their dog and proceeded to let it bark constantly day and night. This dog ultimately was the reason I left a day earlier than I had originally intended. We all love our pets and although pets are allowed have some respect for the other campers, we are all here to enjoy the peace and quiet. If you are unable to control your dog please do us a favor and leave it at home.

We had a great time celebrating our 56th Anniversary at Loefers Bend West site #48. The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay! The campground and restrooms are very clean. The host was friendly and very helpful! The lake is absolutely beautiful!

The only negative was the amount of burrs in some of the grassy areas. They would get on your lower legs or all in the dogs hair. Otherwise the weekend was very good. Was disappointed over burn ban but park doesnt control that.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
