Everything was clean, and we didnt see any dogs off leash. Leash laws are very important to us. We have dogs and Im afraid of unleashed dogs running up to our dogs. That are always on a leash.

My grandkids enjoyed the playgrounds. We liked the size of the camp sites and the convenience of the boat ramp.

No need for interior gates to get into camping areas Need to put in a code to open gate but after dark there is no light to light up the keys.

We always love camping at McCown Valley. Its my familys favorite camping spot. We usually have 5-6 campers, sometimes a few tents, and this is the best campground at Lake Whitney!

Had a reservation for site 63. The shelter was very clean and the view of the lake is outstanding.

Very quite park until Saturday night. Luckily we were far enough away from the hooligans' that we could only hear the occasional screaming/singing. I would stay away from the swim area though. My wife got parasites' that covered both her legs and had to deal with that for about a week. We had site 10. The site is one of the smaller sites and barely fit my 33' camper. Bring a bunch of blocking due to the parking sites being graded. Caught a bunch of fish right in front of our site, Bass, Gasper Goo, and Pan Fish. There were a lot of deer in the area as well as squires and birds. I would suggest bringing some kind of ant deterrent as there were a lot of ants there and throw away your trash at night because they found ours even hanging up. All and all a relaxing trip and will definitely be returning, just not swimming.

For the second time in three years we have damaged the roof of our RV due to low hanging limbs. I contacted the Whitney COE Office and talked to a lady who was caring and said she was sorry - but I needed to talk to a Park Ranger and one was not available. She took my name and phone number and said she would give this information to a Park Ranger and I would be contacted later. That was October 9th and no one has called or emailed me. I love the COE Parks - but I am quickly losing my love for these parks due to ""unexplained closures with reservations canceled and money returned"" and Park Personnel who will not take time to answers concerns. Very unhappy customer!!!

Grass was over grown. One bathroom was nasty. Zip ties laying ever where.

Bathrooms were not great at all. Ants on all of our groups camp grounds were TERRIBLE. Could be an amazing spot if better taken care of

Just need to open day use gate for ppl with passes so we dont have to sit in line for 30 min due to that forever slow ticket machine.

Vary clean facilities and friendly staff, law enforcement does regular patrols of the camps sites making me and the family feel comfortable and safe. Showers are a little gross and drains are clogged so they flood the whole bathroom. Beautiful park tho.

Pretty park but the grass needs to be cut on a regular basis. All bathrooms needed to be cleaned and the bathroom across the road from campsites 1 thru 10, the shower drain was clogged and unusable.Park needs some care.

Mccowen Valley Park is and has always been our go to place on Lake Whitney. Many camps are conveniently located close to the water where a boat can be beached or anchored.

Rented the covered shelter at McCown Park Whitney. They grass was really tall and I ended up eaten up with chiggers because of it. I went by prior to our date and saw the grass already tall. I spoke to a Park Ranger about it. He told me I could bring a push mower and mow it and they wouldn't be mad at me!! I am 69 years old ! I told them that I paid a good size fee to use that area and it should be mowed when someone has it rented. Instead.... all we got was chigger bites. Also lots of wasp nests under the shelter. Bathroom were anything but clean and we arrived at 9:30am so it's unlikely someone messed it all up that early in the morning. I was quite disappointed. I rent the shelter often but will think twice now as it seems there is not one person who cares. OH also I bought a pass at Mccown. Waited to try to find someone to get me that placard. Finally found someone who said I have to go across the lake to the dam area office. I did. It is a long drive but I did it. WHY would you not just put a machine at the office so you can buy it there and get your placard all in one place? It's insanity. Sorry to give such negative feedback but it is my honest experience

Our original site was closed due to flooding so we moved to another site that said it could fit up to a 40 trailer. Ours is 32.Thank goodness my husband can maneuver & backup well because that sites trees were so close together & over grown we barely fit. We were basically jack knifed in the spot. Still love COE parks but will try to Google Earth next time before making a reservation at McCown

We have been going to mccown valley for 20+ years. But we have always had to mow our own camping spots and a path to the water everytime. Rain or shine the grass should never be higher than a normal lawn. There is absolutely no excuse for high grass. Either maintain it or choose a type of landscaping that does not require grass around the camp sites. One guy could maintain the entire park.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
