We enjoy this park! I have to say the restrooms are VERY rustic. The women's restroom had steady slow leaks from the toilet pipes. Only cold water coming from faucets. I wouldn't be inclined to use the shower. Otherwise the RRs are clean.

Camp site numbers where almost impossible to see after dark and pulled into the wrong site first. Once I saw the number on the outdoor table cover post were reflective with a flashlight, then it was much better than state parks! Lesson learned.

Our site 41 had a very large ditch/whole beside the drive area. It really needs to be filled in or at least some kind of grate over it. I fell and broke my ankle in 2 places. I am very fortunate that it wasnt worse.

Thank you nice park. I think to encourage people to clean up their site, need to enforce that you don't put trash in the fire pit.Our neighbor left and it made me crazy to see that. I picked up, lots of cigarette buds and bottle caps, it amazes me.Thank you, Sandra

Normal state park. Needs some TLC and updating. Some grills at camp areas falling apart. Leaking water faucets. No doors on bathroom stalls. But still decent.

The park itself is wonderful! Big trees, large lots, and it's beautiful. However, I give this park only 3 stars due to the nasty bathrooms.

Camped many times. Easy to make reservations online and got gate code with reservation. Camp hosts are always touring the campground and met with me to let me know that the burn ban was lifted. Very quiet and met nice neighbors. Will be back soon.

I enjoyed my stay. BUT, there is one issue that occurs every time I go to McCown Valley. I bring my dog with me when I stay at the shelter. She's on a leash when we go for walks. There are several people that go for their daily walks with their dogs NOT on a leash. Several years ago my dog was attacked by a dog that was not restrained. Luckily I had my walking stick.

Everything was clean, and we didnt see any dogs off leash. Leash laws are very important to us. We have dogs and Im afraid of unleashed dogs running up to our dogs. That are always on a leash.

No need for interior gates to get into camping areas Need to put in a code to open gate but after dark there is no light to light up the keys.

We always love camping at McCown Valley. Its my familys favorite camping spot. We usually have 5-6 campers, sometimes a few tents, and this is the best campground at Lake Whitney!

For the second time in three years we have damaged the roof of our RV due to low hanging limbs. I contacted the Whitney COE Office and talked to a lady who was caring and said she was sorry - but I needed to talk to a Park Ranger and one was not available. She took my name and phone number and said she would give this information to a Park Ranger and I would be contacted later. That was October 9th and no one has called or emailed me. I love the COE Parks - but I am quickly losing my love for these parks due to ""unexplained closures with reservations canceled and money returned"" and Park Personnel who will not take time to answers concerns. Very unhappy customer!!!

Very quite park until Saturday night. Luckily we were far enough away from the hooligans' that we could only hear the occasional screaming/singing. I would stay away from the swim area though. My wife got parasites' that covered both her legs and had to deal with that for about a week. We had site 10. The site is one of the smaller sites and barely fit my 33' camper. Bring a bunch of blocking due to the parking sites being graded. Caught a bunch of fish right in front of our site, Bass, Gasper Goo, and Pan Fish. There were a lot of deer in the area as well as squires and birds. I would suggest bringing some kind of ant deterrent as there were a lot of ants there and throw away your trash at night because they found ours even hanging up. All and all a relaxing trip and will definitely be returning, just not swimming.

We almost quit camping at McCowen because the grass was always so high. This time it had been mowed and was clean. The attendant at the gate was nice and polite. The bathrooms could be in better condition but I have a camper so I didnt really use them however the people we were with did. They said they could have been cleaner.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
