We had a reservation (Site 24) but ran into our first (and hopefully last) WHERE DID THAT COME FROM???? tornado/ hail as we arrived from the south. Called the campground to check on weather. CONNIE is THE most amazing camp host. She not only waited to be certain we arrived safely (.pretty steep incline but our 36 gas powered Tiffin WITH a TOAD, made it just fine) and escorted us to our riverside site, is our chocolate labs new BFF, and was SUCH a friendly face to arrive and see at checkin. I cannot imagine how frazzled we looked after that storm. It was frightening and I dont scare easily.Sadly, we only spent one night enroute to Michigan but we would ABSOLUTELY return. The river on our loop was high and saw zero alligators!

I got a campsite spontaneously. I was only able to stay one night but had a mechanical issue with my camper. I went to the front gate and was able to obtain another night at a different site. The hostess was very helpful. I love this campground and the views of the river are fantastic. I got to see the river boat go by along with barges and tug boats.

This location is convenient so we have stayed many times but things still need to be addressed. One is the reservation policy and how certain people are always given the best spots along the river so others have no chance of reserving them. Some of us cannot afford to book a site an extra 14 days just to try to get dates we want and know sites are held for certain people. The other is cleaning of the restrooms. While I do not know how to fix it, the floors are always wet with water and you have to step in it and sometimes get your clothes wet just trying to use the restroom. I have seen where people will put toilet paper down on the floor to dry it some but all that does is ball up into nasty globs of wet toilet paper that no one picks up. There was a lady that tried to clean well but I was told this time that she was no longer there. The worst part of our latest trip was the electricity hookup at the site. Part of this was due to us thinking it was our ac unit because it is a little older so we thought it could be going out but the lights were also going brighter and duller and flickering. There was a storm which knocked a tree down and took out the power which couldn't be helped but when it came back on we still had problems. The plug in was sort of sparking and we told the lady and she said she would let someone know but no one came. We wound up running our line to the campsite next to us to get power and found we had no more issues with our lights or air conditioning. Then one day in the early morning we heard two loud bangs and the power went out again. This time a truck came into the park and worked on a pole and the electricity came back on and a guy came by but didn't fix our hookup so it was still that way when we left. We had to use the electric from the site next door to us until we left. This is dangerous and could have caused a fire but no one cared. Looking for other places to stay now.

Lock A is always great. Staff are friendly, sites are clean. Will go back again soon. If I have one complaint it is that the bridge is washed out on the connected walking trail. Not the campsite issue, just a disappointment for me.

Lock A has wonderful and very nice employees. We had some bad weather during our stay. She made sure we was aware of the storms and checked on us. She even set up a art's and craft table for the kids to make mothers day cards. Above and beyond for visitors.

Lock A is beautiful Corp of Engineers property associated with old Lock A and current Cheatham Lock & Dam along the Cumberland River. Hiking, fishing, boat ramps, cleaning stations, swimming beach, many picnic area. A few tent only sites with electric along the water, and several tv sites with electric & water. Campground is nestled under grove of large pecan trees. Staff is very courteous and helpful.

One of our favorite destinations. We love camping along the river. Great walking and biking options, although one of those is offline until a bridge is repaired. Restrooms are dated and prone to plugging so good to have options of your own.

weather emergency had us leave our reservation early, park eventually closed. Host we encountered handled it like a champ. She was super friendly when checking us in. She was informative regarding area accommodations, explained the storm coming in, and we got a true sense of feeling welcomed even in chaos. One might think this is just part of the job, but this host goes above and beyond. -Kimberly

Ms. Connie was the gate keeper, we met her on Friday she checked on us Saturday morning asking how our night went and asked if we needed extra blankets. She visited us again later in the day and even loved on the family pet! She gave us info on making future reservations in the coming year. My sisters were 1st time campers and finally took me up on coming camping. They enjoyed themselves and already looking into to coming back again. We live in Nashville so it was nice to get away but not to far away. My husband and I always enjoy coming to this location. We'll be back ASAP, weather permitting.

Lock A is a nice mostly quiet campground on the Cumberland River. Most sites are large and have electric and water. The River flows by the campground with barges passing by a once or twice a day, often at night. The lock is close by and a good place to go by bike or by taking a walk to watch the boats lock through. One of the least attractive features of the park is the trash left by users of the park where fishing takes place and in the woods next to the campground. The campground restroom was problematic at times because of toilets getting stopped up and other campers reported to me that there was no hot water in the showers. The showers were moldy so I didn't use them. The cleaning person said she cleaned the showers with bleach but the mold kept coming back. I educated her on the fact that bleach only bleaches mold, it does not kill it. I hope she has since been provided with a mold killer. I love the relaxing atmosphere of the campground and do plan to return.

This is the 3rd year in a row we have been to Lock A on fall break. Campsites have a tent pad, picnic table, fire pit, water, and electric. We brought our jon boat this time and launched it at the far end of the campground, but near site 45 there is small boat dock to park the boat for breaks on the water. Most sites are on the edge of the water, so the scenery is awesome and you can fish right at your site. The kids liked the playground in the middle of the park, and it was well maintained. I've seen mixed reviews about the restroom facility, but it was clean and stocked. Could you see a spider in there-sure. But it's in the middle of the woods so it didn't bother us- lightyears better than going to the restroom in a bucket. They have a quiet time at 10p and didn't ever get loud or rowdy after hours. If you want to spend quality time with your family away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is a great place to camp and have a little getaway that's close to Nashville. Look forward to coming back next year!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
