I had three nights reserved at my favorite site and had a great setup including a new canopy I had purchased to cover the table (a definite plus), and the first night was rainy and chilly, but some sun broke out a few minutes during the second day. The weather was pretty blustery, but I was prepared to stay the second night until a late afternoon weather app (Ventusky) check predicted a concerning pattern: It was going to rain, then rain some more, then pour down for hours with 100% chance of rain. I'm a retired old guy and I agonized for an hour or so about it, but finally decided to bail, primarily because it increasingly looked like if I stayed, I would be breaking down my tent camp in pouring rain. Not an attractive option. I went ahead and broke things down and packed them up, then sat in a camp chair by the fire until the increasingly heavy drizzle had doused it. Glad for the decision but missed the rest of the trip, and of course look back to the next one. The place is a magical one, the resident management is personable and helpful but not at all intrusive, and it's quiet and clean. My favorite pastime there is to sit in my camp chair and watch the light change on the surroundings, including a lazy section of the mighty Cumberland River. The adjacent trail is closed for bridge repairs and I look foward to its return to accessibility for hikes!

This was a really good tent site. Water on 3 sides. It was a beautiful view. The only issue was that a 100 foot cord is required to reach the tent pad. I didn't have one, but my tent was small enough that it fit near the picnic table. It stormed that night and the chiggers were biting, but that's camping! The late night/early morning barges were pretty loud and awakened me a few times and some sort of animal kept snorting outside my tent but never attempted to get in. I saw a huge catfish (or maybe the Loch Ness monster!) try to jump out of the water! The main hiking trail is closed down because of a damaged bridge. That is the only reason I didn't give a perfect score. Campsite #1 had great woman checking us in. She even came around with freeze pops one hour afternoon!Would i go back? In a heart beat!

Had a great couple nights tent camping on my favorite site, but the second night there blew in late afternoon a wicked windshear that took down my tent and the four next to it on the lake's edge. I watched it from my car, where I had taken refuge from the powerful downpour. It was quite a memory, haha. I ended up clearing the campsite into my car and sleeping in it then taking off early the next day. But all in all it was quiet, peaceful, and a great little trip. I'll be back.

Great place to stay, quite, and really nice people. This was first place I stayed before going on my trip cross country. Kayak and enjoy the river peacefully sounds while moonlight was out. Also some good swimming.

Tent camping on site 45. The nicest tent site we have ever camped on. Sits on a peninsula with the Cumberland River on one side and a small cove on the other. Great for fishing for those who can catch fish (no luck for me). Campground was well maintained, Bath and shower facilities were clean. We would have given it 5 Stars had it not been for these god awful sounds outside of the tent waking us up at 2:00AM every morning (no fault of the campground). I asked the host Cheryl (great host) what made the sounds and she said it was frogs. Ive been camping, fishing and frog gigging for over 50 years, and have never heard any frogs that sound like these. All in all, it was a GREAT campground! In fact, we liked it so much we we booked it again in June and July. Were hoping our new froggie friends that kept waking us up will be gone. If not, were bringing ear plugs!

Our campsite was right next to the river which was wonderful! We loved watching the beautiful heron that was our neighbor and watching the barges go by - except late during the night. I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the bath facilities - that isn't the case at every campground. My only complaint is that the facility required treated firewood but had none for purchase. Most campgrounds offer firewood so we came with none and as tent campers, that's a very big deal. Overall though, in spite of crazy winds, we had a good trip!
