Nice campground, very convenient. Road noise is LOUD.

Very close to Highway 89, so lots of road noise certain times of day. We have a small trailer and the loops are laid out incorrectly for backing a small trailer in, especially with the spacing of the trees and large rocks to keep people on the road. We had to come in through the exit in order to back in. We spoke with another small trailer owner there who had done the same. Sites are very narrow and challenging to back into with trailers. When it says 30 foot equipment is allowed, that is for the trailer and the vehicle. The sites are not long enough to accommodate both of over than length. The river is very pretty, but not easily accessible and there is no beach area. Campground is a great central location if you plan to tent camp and go out and do other activities.

Camp host was wonderful. Yes the sites are right off the highway but honestly you barely notice. Spacious spots. Lots of shade. Close to many activities.

Tahoe National Forest is not being managed for people. It has turned into a logging operation, and it's devastating to us that have loved this area for a long time. You would think because it is Lake Tahoe, the priority is supposedly the lake, tourism, they would be sensitive to destroying the very thing people come to the forest for--THE FOREST. But they are logging the forest now, industrial scale, a lot of destruction, while the campgrounds, the recreational facilities go unmaintained. It's terrible. We thought there was all this advocacy for the forest and the lake. It was all safe and protected--but it's not. We are seeing stumps and logging in places we have never seen it before. Who are these people letting this happen? These are STILL OUR public lands. We don't know ANYONE who wants Lake Tahoe Forests LOGGED, so obviously, they don't care about the public. The other sad thing is with the way things are now with the climate heating everything up, we are seeing places where the forest does not come back or it comes back looking sick. Please speak out. Regarding the campgrounds along 89, there are too many campsites in them and they are congested in the summer. The roads are narrow and unmaintained. Maybe instead of LOGGING, maintain the campgrounds and picnic areas???Re: do not select campsite, 21. It should be removed as a campsite. It's terrible. First you can't get TO IT. There is a giant boulder in the drive-in for the campsite that makes the entry very narrow not to mention you can hit your door/car on it when you open it. Also the other two campsites below completely overwhelm and dominate the whole area and there was a truck from the adjacent campsite blocking our ability to even DRIVE INTO the campsite. The other two sites are so large, accommodate so many vehicles, the upper parking area for the one next door actually BLOCKS entry into Site #21. Overall, terrible experience. We ended up just leaving in total frustration.

I love the campgrounds. This particular host didnt check the DARs and drove into our campsite at 12 waking us up from our nap. Stating hes checking campfire rings. However when a neighboring camper in 27 had a fire at night and in the morning he did not come by. We do not set fires while camping as Ive worked in recreation the last couple seasons out of the Nevada city office. Other than that it was great. Bathrooms hadnt been cleaned in about 5 days according to the log on the bathroom door.

Perfect site - literally steps from the Truckee River. Location between Tahoe City and Truckee was perfect!

Campground site was clean and campers were largely respectful of one another. We know the USFS is doing their best under difficult conditions precipitated by executive branch management.

beautiful location. Yes, the road is noisy, but if you are close to the river you don't notice. The camp host is really nice and helpful!

Only about 22 min drive from North Lake Tahoe with a nice river running behind the camp ground and a campground trail alongside that same river with beautiful views. We had one of the "walk in" sites - we had to walk down from a small parking lot to our site. It's a bit steep, a bit rocky, and not even a half of a mile so it's not real hard but if you have any sort of physical ailment, these sites definitely aren't for you. That said, the walk-in site was beautiful because it was practically overlooking the river. Bring some mosquito repellent and enjoy the amazing view each morning :)2 things to keep in mind: 1) DISHES: There is running water from spigots but they don't allow washing of dishes - I ignored this (and no one said anything to me about it) since I think washing a few dishes is better for the environment than using a bunch of disposable stuff. So just FYI: There's no sink for washing dishes at the camp. 2) BATHROOMS: The bathrooms were very clean and smelled nice when we arrived on Friday but by Sunday they really stunk and there were a couple of times without toiletpaper - overall still better than most campgrounds for sure! Not a big deal imo (because I'm camping afterall!) but just a heads-up!

First time camping in CA, we drove down from WA. Lovely camping spots with access to the Truckee River along a short trail. Brought my fly rod and caught a couple of rainbow trout. Site #4 had a bit of privacy, was near the water fill up, restrooms and the garbage. The campground manager was friendly, and camp ground was a good loop to walk our dogs in the mornings. Would recommend and would rebook for future trips.

Very nice moonlight view.

Very peaceful view along the river and nice to have the sound at night. Downside of site 23 is you have to carry things to site, which I missed but overall great experience.
@LauraS4657948 · Camped on May 31, 2025 at Campsite #10
Site #10 is very small. It is directly across from the parking lot area intended for tent campers (camping down by the river), and crowded. Consider booking this site if you have a smaller vehicle only. There were a lot of ant piles in the site area and it was unlevel. We had a rooftop tent so this was not an issue but it may make it difficult for a ground tent. Recommend booking one of the larger sites away from this parking area if you have a larger vehicle.

Stayed here for two nights. Camp sites and bathrooms were very clean. The Truckee River was right next to our sites which made it awesome to take a walk with the kids down the river. Only downside I'd say was the HWY being a bit too close which meant car noise. Other than that, it was an overall great experience.

Very nice campground, conveniently located near Lake Tahoe. Clean, pleasant location next to the Truckee River

Clean bathrooms, water available. Close to activities. Site 4 would ideal (not a pull through) for noise and privacy

Very convenient location and clean campsite. The road noise was bothersome most of the night.

The campground is a bit worn down, but everything works fine. We would have loved to go tubing on the river Truckee had we known about this before arriving. It looked like so much fun - even for the small kiddos.We spent the day at Commons Beach in Tahoe city. Such a magical little spot in the middle of the city.
@KennethB453248 · Camped on Jul 18, 2024 at Campsite #14
Campground is right on a busy highway. The loop roads were narrow and had big boulders fronting the road. There was little room to park and we had difficulty getting our small camper in the designated spot. We ended up leaving a day early wouldnt stay there again.

A perfect site close enough to hear the river at night and far enough from the road. Awesome spot!

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
