Camp host allowed the person who had our campsite reserved for the night following our reservation to set up one night early in spot with all his equipment and toys assuming they probably wont show up. We did in fact show up and were then made to feel like we were imposing asking them to move out of the campsite we had reserved and paid for. Camp host clearly knew what was going on and allowed it. Really unacceptable behavior all around. Campsite itself had no issues, but we waited more than an hour after struggling to even find the host and get situation sorted out to get into our site.

Another tent was set up on our campsite when we arrived, squeezing us to set up on the gravel. No one was at the other tent until late evening when they arrived, parked on the grass and woke us with blinding headlights. They came and went throughout the night. They left early the next morning. Then so did we! The camp host was never seen!

The camp host was very nice. He stopped and spoke with us as we were pulling in. He frequently was out maintaining the campground and toilets.

The camp host was very friendly but also kept a respectful distance allowing us privacy and peace at the camp site. Bathrooms were the cleanest vault toilets Ive ever used. Being right next to the river was amazing. The only downside is that you can hear the traffic on the road all day and night. Its not so loud that I couldnt sleep but its something youll be aware of while camping. Overall a great campground with lots of river access points in the campground.

My site was large and clean, bathrooms always stocked and clean. All the campers were friendly and respectful

It is a great location, except for being too close to a noisy busy road. There is a lot of deferred maintenance.

Good place to stay, glad it was only for one night though.lots of road noise!

Helpful camp host. Right on the river and close to anything you need. Bathrooms and park is very clean. This is my go to spot when I want to get away and do nothing or hike, raft, hop over to Tahoe or shop and eat in Truckee.

Cutting straight to it - this site didnt have a parking spot connected, its right next to the highway & bathroom, and its very small. Theres only space for 1 tent.

Road noise is a lot to deal with. Campground was clean and host was nice. recommend ear plugs if you camp close to road here.

I renamed Granite Flats "The 405". That you are so close and have access to the awesome Truckee River, you have to deal with tremendous noise from the 89 Highway. I cannot imagine sleeping in anything but a well built travel trailer although many were braving it out sleeping in tents just yards from vehicles going 60 mph well into the night. Garbage truck comes through very early as well several commuters who after many days we recognized the honking they choose to bother you with about 6:30 am. It's a great and usually available stop over spot when we are passing through, but will not stay more than an overnight in the future. The camp host was kind and helpful.

The space overall was clean but the location/ site was extremely noisy. We heard cars passing through the highway all night and could barely sleep.

We have reserved this site for the the past few years because we loved it so much but when we showed up we found that they had cut down two trees and left the remaining logs making half the site unusable. We have enjoyed this site so much and unfortunately they took all the shade and views away.

The only bad part of Granite Flats is road noise. Other than that its a great campground. Short drive to Donner Lake and and about 30 to 40 minutes to Lake Tahoe.

I am a local repeat visitor of this site. Parking pad was perfect size for my camper van. Disappointed that there was no onsite camp host this year. Had a wonderful time under the Full Buck moon!

Middle row of campsites are medium tolerable. The highway is very noisy, it's hard to feel like you're in the forest. The sites by the highway are the worst. The sites by the river seem pretty nice, and the river sound muffles the freeway sound. All sites are small. There is also a great little lagoon by the river, where a ring of rocks has created a calmer area for wading that's great for kids. There's also a nice dry grassy bank for sitting. If not for the river and grassy bank, then this campsite would definitely be not nice at all compared to every other place we've stayed at. Restrooms were pretty clean for pit toilets. No wood sold here.

Decent clean campsite with easy river access. The road noise was pretty bad throughout the night however. Bring earplugs.

I had an awesome time camping at Granite flat. My kids loved how the river was so close to our campsite.Only downfall was the cars on the highway. We heard big trailers passing and the lights of the cars reflected at night.

Very good campground, great location. Peaceful camping experience.

Great campsite directly on the river. Vault toilets but the camp host kept them amazingly clean (saw her cleaning 2+ times a day). Huge shout-out to her. No water/electricity at campsite but had potable water fountains spread through-out the campsite that tasted better than our tap-water at home. Some road-noise being so close to the highway but not terrible. Only issue we had was the smell of cannabis each evening from the large group next to us (but since this is California, not sure what we could have done about it). Absolutely would camp here again if we were in the area. Really easy access to Olympic Village to watch the Western States 100 Ultra-marathon.

can be loud next to the highway, but a lovely spot to stay

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
