We needed a cheap place to stay after an event on the coast and this was the only place with availability. We quickly discovered why. This is NOT the place to stay if youre a fan of such frivolous things as sleep, peace & quiet, being able to hear yourself think, etc. This is apparently the ATV capital of the universe. It was just an endless parade all around our campsite of people whose daddies didnt ever tell them I love you blocking out their sadness with the revving of engines and screaming at people in other campsites as they passed. Until they finally passed out in a pile of childhood regrets and adult overcompensation at around 2AM. Which, man, we all got issues, you gotta do what you gotta do to cope, and if thats what makes you happy, great. Personally, I am just glad alcohol and earplugs exist, without which I wouldnt have gotten any sleep. Also, our campsite had some garbage and the bathrooms were in need of some maintenance; the hand dryer in the womens room was fully busted, no soap in the mens room. We went to the day use fishing area once we packed up and it felt like going home after a concert. It was a surprisingly peaceful and beautiful spot, though our ears were still ringing from the endless roar of engines, reduced to just a distant, dull hum in this area. You definitely will NOT find peace and quiet at your campsite, but the silver lining is that you wont have to go far.I didnt have a bad time altogether, honestly. Definitely not a place Id book again, but if you are planning on going camping specifically to have a party, youll blend right in. This is your spot! And the sandy campsites were pretty big and comfy.

First let me say that we love staying at this campground! We have a side by side and bring it down here several times each summer. Here are the pros: 1) We love that we can just drive right out of the campground and right up to the ATV beach driving area without having to load our side by side onto the trailer and drive down the road somewhere. 2) The secluded beach access out the opposite side of the campground for a non-vehicle allowed area. Its almost like a little lake where the ocean water comes in, but we dont have to be right up on the beach with crashing waves. We have two little kids and thanks to the calm in this spot it is a great place where the kids can swim and build some sand castles while Mom relaxes to a good book. 3) There is a general store just 5 minutes down the road. While it isnt a full blown grocery store, it is a great place to go grab a new bag of ice or a new little propane tank. 4) Most of the spots have pretty good space and we love the double parking pad at each campsite. Weve gone down there for several years now and have a list of our favorite sites that we try to book based on a few factors that are important to us, but there are very few bad spots in the whole place. Both our truck and trailer fit with room to spare to let our youngest ride his scooter and draw with chalk in the sites driveway. Here are the few cons: 1) I wish it had its own playground. The playground is across the road and is right by where the ATV beach entrance is. Its scary with little kids play 10 feet from those vehicles driving by. 2) Make sure to bring your own hand soap; they dont keep any in the bathrooms at this location. 3) Sometimes there is a good camp host that keeps the sites and bathrooms clean, but sometimes there is not so be prepared for either. 4) BEWARE OF THE SQUIRRELS! They will eat ANYTHING (yes that includes paper towels and garbage bags) and arent afraid of anything.

~Pros: Great site size . Next to day use beach. Close to trash and water. Trash not to close so it wont smell. Bathroom is close enough. Shade under trees to place tents. Enough room for 4-5 tents in shade. ~Cons: lots and lots of ants. Compared to other sites Ive stayed at 12 sites. But youre outside so its expected. **No privacy at this site your out in the open. We had 2 canopies so had privacy. Over all had a great time and this site was good.

Very simply put, the bathrooms are not hardly being maintained anymore, but campground hosts are no longer placing reservation placards on the site, the entire facility has no first come first serve. The groundskeepers are not trimming the trees back enough, and have caused damage to not only mine, but my friends trailers. There is absolutely no places to dump gray and black tanks before you leave. We pay a lot of money every year in vehicle fees, and camping fees there should be some sort of facility to be able to accommodate the dump.

A dump station would be nice.

We came on the Sunday after the Friday July 4th holiday. While the campground was pretty full, the dunes and parking lot camping were packed and crazy. The volunteer camp hosts for Sandbeach were excellent, very nice and polite even after the very hectic couple of days. The campground was clean and the spots are spaced well apart and offered plenty of shade where we were. One of my favorite campgrounds to visit.

Way too many people are allowed in on the holiday weekends, and basically anytime anymore. Too many cars too many people it's not even safe to go out on the sand. It is ridiculous that they cannot do a permit system or have better control of the people and the noise and the quiet time, the camp hosts are useless, the Rangers don't go through the campgrounds, it is just wild west and No Holds Barred and no rules. I have been going for over 20 years and have seen the change. I'm not a newbie who does not know what Sand Lake is about which is ATVs which is noise, I know that but this is beyond Way Beyond what is tolerable

Fantastic hosts and campsites! The beach is wonderful by the lake. Will definitely be back.A little noisy around Jul 4th with the SXS and 4.wheelers.but they behave well.

Rules were not followed regarding atv use after 10pm and fireworks. It seemed the hosts were not interested or able to enforce the rules.

This campsite was wonderful! We had site 001 it on the corner right at the front so it felt secluded from other campgrounds. The host was very friendly. You do hear a ton of ATV but most are done by 10pm. Bathrooms were clean. Absolutely no service!

Very loud campground: dune buggies and dirt bikes racing around without mufflers till dark, and big RVs with generators. Can only book online, have to use camp hosts satellite hotspot as there is no cell service. Will not visit again.

We stayed in Site 14 for 2 nights. It was a decent size site, but a little wet and soggy in places. The area has lots of sand dunes and is a big recreation site for ATV and off road vehicles which we weren't aware of and daytime noise can be a turn off for some. The first night was dead quiet. However, the next day people occupied the site next to ours and were, loud, obnoxious and belligerent. One guy came up to us and said that he had friends occupying our site the next day and pretty much warned us to be out of our site at a decent time. We just brushed it off since there are check out time to adhere to. These people played their music for everyone to hear and despite 10pm quiet hours, they were noisy until 1:30am. At that point, we thought that finally we could sleep, but that didn't last long because they turned on a generator for the rest of the night. It appeared that they were charging vehicle batteries and no electrical extension cords going to any of their tents. It was a very unpleasant night. Some people just make everyone else's experience unpleasant for the sake of their own experience. We notified the campground host and he said that he will do more patrols to ensure people are observing the quiet hours. The campground was nice, but we won't stay there again.

If you dont want to hear ATVs blowing out your eardrums from dawn to dusk, avoid this campsite at all costs. Terrible experience, left after night 1 of a 3 night reservation.

This was our first time camping off the sand and we were very happy with the overall experience and how friendly all the other campers were. We have a little and there were others that did too and so they were able to play together in camp. It was a very nice time and my wife was much more relaxed than when we have camped out on the Playa.

The campsite is conveniently right off the beach which is great for thru hiking and has space for multiple cars and tents, but unless you have amazing ear plugs you wont get any sleep. ATV hours and quiet hours were not enforced and I finally heard things quiet down around 4am. Woof. But I bet its great if youre looking for maximum ATV fun times (which is def what the park is designed for).

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
