I stayed in campground 31 with an RV. The site was level and perfect for an RV

Camping spot so small and not good for seniors

I stayed in campsite 23 which absolutely has a stunning view. I loved my stay here. I think this is the third or fourth time I have stayed here. The views cant be beat. The campground is clean and I love the short walk to Lynx Lake. I am a fan forever.

Well the site was good and clean however we saw no camp host or ranger checks the entire 4.5 days. Thankfully not many folks up there and all respectful however what if we needed something or had questions?
@JeffA9550709 · Camped on Apr 23, 2025 at Campsite #29
Clean campground and site. I did not use the restroom or any other facilities besides the site. Due to the size of my trailer, I had to use a double occupancy site. For $40+ per night, I felt it was over priced since there was not electric, water or sewer.

Nicely maintained campground, tall pines all around, water supply is working again after being off for a year. Verizon cell service is usable throughout but best in the C loop and weakest in the A loop.

Excellent work

Nice an quiet because only a few people were camped this time of year. The fire ring in our site an a few others we looked at while walking around camp were filled with trash, beer cans, chicken bones etc. Bathrooms were clean tho. Will probably camp here again but only in really slow season. If camp was fuller the noise level would be horrible because it would echo in the canyon.

Situated in a beautiful ponderosa pine forest, quiet, peaceful, close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough away for campground to feel remote. Clean and well maintained. I would camp here again.

We love Hilltop. The campsite was clean and felt secluded. We hiked down to Lynx Lake with our dogs. It is a great hike and took about half an hour from our site. Will be back next year when the season opens.

Facilities adequate, easy access, experience marred slightly by weekend warrior drunks bloviating into the night
@DebraC1743C063 · Camped on Oct 21, 2024 at Campsite #31
Site was level and my husband who is on a walker was able to move about with minimal difficulty. Access to water was just across from the camp site but the water was turned off for maintenance.

Very quiet campground mid- week in October. Vault toilets were clean. Great hiking from campground. Very convenient to Walmart & Gas.

Lynx lake is one of our favorite places to camp and we come back almost every year

This campground was clean, well maintained and had good shady spots from the forest trees. However, there was NO WATER ANYWHERE! None of the water pump stations worked. There was one 55 gallon drum of water outside the outhouse-restrooms, however, it was sealed and you would need your own bung wrench and hand pump to access the water in the drum. (I think the drum of water was there for staff only to clean the outhouses.) I brought drinking water with me, but I had planned to use campground water for doing dishes, brushing teeth, etc. and was disappointed when I had to leave camp, drive to town and purchase more bottled water for camp clean-up and hygiene.One other thing I didn't like about the campground is that there were steel posts embedded in the ground that prevented me from backing up my vehicle to the concrete picnic table. This was very inconvenient for car camping as I didn't pitch a tent and was using my car as part of my "camping rig" to sleep in and keep gear in that I didn't want to get wet. So, I ended up setting up my tarp and a portable camp table on the asphalt driveway rather than using the designated camping area as it was too far away my vehicle. Why do they prevent people from backing up their vehicle into the camping space??? Is it because they don't want a vehicle near the fire pit??? Even if I had pitched a tent, it still would of been inconvenient and difficult for me to carry all my gear that far away from my vehicle to a "vehicle-free" camping area. I would of needed a wagon or cart to assist me, and even then, I don't know if the gap between the steel posts was wide enough for a wagon, nor was there room in my car to pack a wagon for towing gear! To me, this is just government making it difficult for people to camp! It requires a person to be young, strong and fit, and is not very ideal for seniors! Nor is it very ideal for car camping or RV camping!

Much better than Lynx campground. Spaces are further apart and more quiet.

This is my favorite campground, I love the sites and the proximity to Lynx Lake. Tip: Pick up firewood on your way in. Host was "off duty" at 4:30 on Sunday afternoon.

Not having access to water was an inconvenience (of which we were notified in advance), but this is still one of our favorite campgrounds. The sites are well spaced, well maintained and nicely laid out and the toilets are always clean. It is amazing to find such a great campground so close to downtown Prescott with easy access to all of the areas' wonderful lakes. The resident owls and coyotes have serenaded us on the several occasions we have stayed at Hilltop.

The camp ground was beautiful except for the problem of having no water available in the entire camp ground nor down by the lake. The lake is beautiful but the parking on weekends is a nightmare. They definitely need to add more parking.
@PaulF2981841 · Camped on Jul 19, 2024 at Campsite #20
Site 20 in Hilltop Campground is great for tent camping but not so good for RVs or travel trailers. That's because the pad is basically just a shoulder of the road that travels through the campground. Tent campers will be treated to a nice flat, well-groomed area to pitch a tent (or two) adjacent to a huge concrete picnic table and fire ring.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
