The site was good. We booked it for Friday and Saturday night. We stayed Friday night and went on a day trip to Crown King on Saturday leaving at 8:30am. We overland so all of our stuff is in or on our vehicle. We came back to the site around 4p and someone took our spot! They werent there so we find the camp host, and his response was, I wasnt here last night and they said they had the spot this morning. Why are we not checking reservation verification?!? The host put us in another spot which we didnt really enjoy because it had zero shade and was really set up for a 5th wheel. We enjoy this campground but please figure out a way to hold people accountable and stop them from taking spots from those who paid for them. Really disappointed.

This campground was clean, well maintained and had good shady spots from the forest trees. However, there was NO WATER ANYWHERE! None of the water pump stations worked. There was one 55 gallon drum of water outside the outhouse-restrooms, however, it was sealed and you would need your own bung wrench and hand pump to access the water in the drum. (I think the drum of water was there for staff only to clean the outhouses.) I brought drinking water with me, but I had planned to use campground water for doing dishes, brushing teeth, etc. and was disappointed when I had to leave camp, drive to town and purchase more bottled water for camp clean-up and hygiene. One other thing I didn't like about the campground is that there were steel posts embedded in the ground that prevented me from backing up my vehicle to the concrete picnic table. This was very inconvenient for car camping as I didn't pitch a tent and was using my car as part of my "camping rig" to sleep in and keep gear in that I didn't want to get wet. So, I ended up setting up my tarp and a portable camp table on the asphalt driveway rather than using the designated camping area as it was too far away my vehicle. Why do they prevent people from backing up their vehicle into the camping space??? Is it because they don't want a vehicle near the fire pit??? Even if I had pitched a tent, it still would of been inconvenient and difficult for me to carry all my gear that far away from my vehicle to a "vehicle-free" camping area. I would of needed a wagon or cart to assist me, and even then, I don't know if the gap between the steel posts was wide enough for a wagon, nor was there room in my car to pack a wagon for towing gear! To me, this is just government making it difficult for people to camp! It requires a person to be young, strong and fit, and is not very ideal for seniors! Nor is it very ideal for car camping or RV camping!

Hilltop Campground is a very nice family campground. Many sites are shaded and sites aren't on top of each other. The campground is located far enough so you can enjoy the forest and close enough to shopping. And the Camp Host, Andrew is very nice and checks on his campers frequently. Andrew helps make your camping experience very enjoyable.

Should not have to reserve (and pay extra fee) when so many reservation only sites were unoccupied. No campground hosts were available to answer questions.

The campground and bathrooms were very clean? We were able to use our phones most of the time. Great hiking trails, one of which led to Lynx Lake. So pretty!

Good site overall but reservation tags no longer used and someone might take your spot.

We had such a wonderful time. We're really surprised that it was so quite for Memorial Day weekend. Andrew one of the hosts was very accommodating. Jeff and Kim the camp host were so delightful. Will be going back soon.

It was such a nice campground and we were close enough to town to get breakfast and buy groceries.

Hiking on the path around the lake is good as the west site has an asphalt surface. We also saw others walking with their dog, too.

Camp host never came to talk to us. I rarely saw him. bathroom is only cleaned three days a week, and we ran out of toilet paper on Saturday evening.

First time camping at this location, so we were unsure when choosing the site if we were really getting a good one. Turns out that in general, they are all pretty good. About a 10 minute drive +/- in to town to get things if required, so the location and convenience were excellent. Our camp site was raked down very nicely when we arrived, so it looked well prepared. The site was clean as well. Obvious restrictions regarding burning, which was probably the worst part about it. (who likes to camp without being able to make a small campfire!) Both men and women toilets were decently clean. Not much one can do with a glorified hole in the ground. The camp hosts , who were in the site next to us, were very friendly, and offered up some suggestions regarding hiking. So we ended up hiking around Lynx Lake several times over the few days we were camping. Lights out at 10P, which everyone followed....except for the guy in the site across from us who at 3AM had an argument with the family of raccoons who decided to make his campsite their home. If it wasn't so irritating getting woken up so early in the AM, it was pretty funny. Like the raccoons would really listen to him in the first place. We did get visited by a rather large skunk both nights, and while heading to the bathroom, I nearly walked right over one as he was scurrying right in front of me across the road. Overall, Great campground and experience. We will return for sure, and now know of a couple of other sites within that same area the we would like to use for sure.

Host in Loop C was really nice. Clean campground. Quite with each space having their own privacy. Well maintained and kept up. Definitely will return.

The campsite literally did not exist. The loop only goes up to number 16 or 18, and we had reserved #26...

Hilltop is a favorite. The 305 trail runs right through the campground and Lynx Lake is a short walk. Close to town but quiet and pretty.
