Axtel Campground in Breckinridge County is located 50 min west of Elizabethtown, KY with an elevation of 524 feet. There are a total of 153 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid April to the end of October. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 16 and 80 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 111 sites have electric and water hookups. Fees range from $18.00 to $56.00. Some amenities include shower, drinking water, dump station, wifi, playground, boat ramp, swimming, marina, fish cleaning station, restroom, trash dumpster, flush toilets, water sports rental. Activities include boating, fishing, floating sports.

We enjoyed our stay at Axtel very much. It was very quiet and we appreciated the water connection at the site with electricity only. Unfortunately the lake in front of the site was extremely dry. So dont plan on doing water activities. Also finding the park was a bit confusing due to AXtel not having much signage in front of it. We thought is was a private campground with boat docks and such. Also we were under the impression that it was close to mammoth caves and it is not..just a fyi

Although there was not much lake water. But Mother Nature fault !Attendants very nice and helpful. Bathrooms spotless.

The bathhouse had a stopped drain, sinks were not working and very old showers. They needed to be cleaned more often, especially on weekends when campground is full. The gate to the entrance was always open even though we had a gate code.

This location was very beautiful even with such low water levels. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and so was the surrounding areas for camping. Very nice place to take your family and spend the weekend.

Beautiful campground and as always had a wonderful time. Water level was still low and will not be at regular summer pool for some time because of dam work. That really had n little effect on us.Still grateful for the COE to provide this.

Had a blast. This was our first Halloween weekend at Axtel. Weather was perfect. Met a lot of nice folks and as usual, the campground host Vicky made certain that everyone was accommodated and enjoyed their stay.

Had easy access to the water for fishing or canoeing sites were nice in size equipped with a picnic table and a fire pit only thing missing was the top to the cooking table sites were far enough apart that you had privacy but close enough that you could interact with your neighbors

Great campsites right on the beautiful lake. Sunset view was unbelievable! We had quite a hike to the bathrooms because of the closed bath house. But other than that it was amazing. We had a great time, will come again!

We stayed on site F110 right on the water. Back in site with electric and water. Beautiful view of the lake and access to the lake from the site. Very clean and organized campground from the bath house to the dump station. We are fairly new campers and we made a new camper mistake when we were leaving at the end of our stay, we forgot to bring in our awning and as we drove away from our site our awning hit a tree and was destroyed. Not knowing what to do I backed into an adjacent site and sat there dumbfounded that we made that mistake. I knew I couldnt drive with awning hanging half off the Rv so I pulled out my small tool box and realized we were SOL..almost immediately other campers came by and asked if I needed help and as embarrassed as I was I knew I needed help. They all quickly jumped in bringing tools and gear and started to remove the awning from my rv as I tried to help but realized this was way outside my lane and I needed to get out of the way and let them do what they do. I cant thank those 3 gentlemen enough and I cant remember there names and Im sorry, but you know who you are and I am forever greatfull and only hope I can someday return the favor or pay it forward in some way to another camper. I would also like to thank the other campers who came by offering there time and assistance also. That day and that fellow camper kindness that was shown to us has changed us for the better. We have been camping for about 4 months and mostly kept to ourselves at the campgrounds but that day has changed that, thank you axtel campers , we feel very humbled. The Harpers

O on of our favorite campgrounds. After camping there for almost 20 years this was our first time in site #18 and it was perfect. This facility is always clean and well maintained. The host is extremely friendly. Continues to be one of our favorite get-away area.
