Axtel Campground in Breckinridge County is located 50 min west of Elizabethtown, KY with an elevation of 524 feet. There are a total of 153 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid April to the end of October. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 16 and 80 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 111 sites have electric and water hookups. Fees range from $18.00 to $56.00. Some amenities include shower, drinking water, dump station, wifi, playground, boat ramp, swimming, marina, fish cleaning station, restroom, trash dumpster, flush toilets, water sports rental. Activities include boating, fishing, floating sports.

The Bathhouse was closed and there was no Internet Hotspot. We were also not notified prior to arrival.

We lost electricity on Saturday they said the electrician wouldnt be out till sometime Sunday. The attendant said everyone at the E loop would be refunded. We packed up and left on Saturday because it was 98 degrees inside the camper with no way of running a fan. I put in a request for a refund and was told no. So it was very disappointing.

We always enjoy coming to Axtel 1think I will say over the 20 years it has kind of went down hill with sites with trash left in them a lot of the changes is the camp host is just a volunteer they no longer get paid there not open on the big day for checking out and in Friday and Monday are to biggest days except for holiday weekends

I camped here with my father as a kid in high school, and this was my first time back in 49 years. What memories! Campground is older but in good shape, and it is evident the Corps is working to get it back in shape after the terrible spring floods. Restrooms and showers were functional, although they could use a face lift. Excellent proximity to the water and the views are excellent (especially the sunsets). Overall, a very good stay.

Had a great time fishing and swimming! We always do girl trips to this campground and I love that we always feel safe. Theres a sense of community in the campground no matter whos there and what time of year you camp!

Taking in consideration the flooding and the deep cuts of funding to the US Army Corps of Engineers, I strongly feel the staff at Rough River Axtel and surrounding campsites are doing a excellent job. Site was extremely clean and trimmed for our stay. Well done.

Very nice despite cuts to funding. Sheriff Office did campground rounds seemingly every other hour. We had to move to a different site every night (die to me booking late) so we could enjoy a full week. All of the sites were clean. Volunteer staff friendly.

We had an amazing site at Axtel. We were on A24 and we were in close proximity to the playground as well as fishing and areas for the kids. We will definitely be back.

Bathrooms are not sanitary. Camping policies are not being enforced. Corp couldnt even get the grass cut and trimmed for the Fourth of July
