We stayed on site F110 right on the water. Back in site with electric and water. Beautiful view of the lake and access to the lake from the site. Very clean and organized campground from the bath house to the dump station. We are fairly new campers and we made a new camper mistake when we were leaving at the end of our stay, we forgot to bring in our awning and as we drove away from our site our awning hit a tree and was destroyed. Not knowing what to do I backed into an adjacent site and sat there dumbfounded that we made that mistake. I knew I couldnt drive with awning hanging half off the Rv so I pulled out my small tool box and realized we were SOL..almost immediately other campers came by and asked if I needed help and as embarrassed as I was I knew I needed help. They all quickly jumped in bringing tools and gear and started to remove the awning from my rv as I tried to help but realized this was way outside my lane and I needed to get out of the way and let them do what they do. I cant thank those 3 gentlemen enough and I cant remember there names and Im sorry, but you know who you are and I am forever greatfull and only hope I can someday return the favor or pay it forward in some way to another camper. I would also like to thank the other campers who came by offering there time and assistance also. That day and that fellow camper kindness that was shown to us has changed us for the better. We have been camping for about 4 months and mostly kept to ourselves at the campgrounds but that day has changed that, thank you axtel campers , we feel very humbled. The Harpers

I love it, I bring my family there. Only what I was disappointed is people trying to fishing when someone ride the jetski and boats that going fast that makes scared the fish away not far from the bank ( near the sand or grass). My grandson really want to catch one so bad. It hard to see at night time. But other than that, my grandkids enjoy swimming.

Loved this campground.. all site have a view of the lake. Most of them are right on the lake. The shower house was clean, the showers were a little small, hard not to touch a wall while washing.

Axtel is a great campground, the Campground Hosts are always awesome, great sites, beautiful water views. You can bring your kayak, beach your boat or Jet Ski or just head down to the beach! Nick's boat dock/boat launch is right across the street and there is plenty of trailer parking at Axtel. We go there every year for my Birthday and use sites F110 and F111. There is a Liquor Store, 2 local restaurants, a gas station, Fentress Marine and a Dollar Store all within a 1/4 mile so you won't run out of anything! Enjoy!

We left 2 days early due to thunderstorms and our tent being flooded. We have yet to be refunded for those days and was charged for 2 more days randomly for no reason. Cant get ahold of anyone to settle the situation either. Been going here for 25 years but we will not be booking again until this is settled.

Bathrooms was closed. No showers. Heavy Smoke from fires burning all night. Loud Music from neighbor. Cigarette Buts everywhere. Hosts was very nice at the gate. There is no enforcement on quiet time though. I've stayed in same spot 32 years every May. Yes I realize hard to find help right now. But still No bathhouse? Tried using bathroom on other side and it was locked. Not sure what's up but I was not notified before checking in. But everyone had fire pits going which are roughly 10ft from your site. We couldn't sleep way too much smoke. I highly recommend fire out times be enforced. It's in the rules and regs. But, if you don't have enforcment.... anyway great fishing from the bank. Caught several bass one was 5lb 2oz caught a 4lb Stripe from rock side of camp. Several rock bass and bluegill on Rooster Tail at camp. But yeah site 110 is on the point catches all of the smoke down wind.

We had sites 110 and 111. Small travel trailer on one and large tent on the other. Easy access down to the water for kayaks and fishing. Amazing views on three sides. Restrooms not too far away. Bath house a little further. Highly recommend the campground and these particular sites.

Park Attendants are super friendly here. We forgot about our trash, still had it at the front of our camper by the hitch, but Jo ran to flag us down and infact took our bag of garbage so we wouldn't have to pull back thru with our camper. Now that's being attentive and going beyond the expected.

We stopped through for a single night while traveling through the area. We had a spot right on the water but many, if not most, of the spots were either on the water on a short walk to the water.We had a spot right next to another spot and our neighbors were very nice and welcoming as were the park hosts.The view was fantastic and the spot was easy to get our little tear drop camper into. The facilities were all clean and easily accessible.

Very clean. Camp hosts were exceptional. Our only gripe is that we had to leave early the camp fire smoke was over whelming at our site. Seems everyone was burning everything but wood. At night the fire smoldered filling the valley up so much so we couldnt even see the water under a full moon. Perhaps have fires doused at midnight when the forecast calls for complete calm? Also enforce dry wood and no trash burning? The plastic burning is what sealed it for us. Winds was calm at night on our dates. We checked out 2 days early couldnt handle the smoke anymore. Ive camped at site 110 for 30 years now. The shower and bathrooms were impeccable and steaming hot water. WiFi hotspots where Extremely fast despite a full campground. Park rangers were super friendly and eager to ask us if we needed anything or if we were ok when we rode our bikes around. Ive never complained on camp fire smoke but almost everyone had a fire lit so we elected to pass on our fire. Normally there is is a sw steering wind to clear it out. Perhaps the US Army Corps of Engineers would look at my suggestions above about forecasted dead calm nights in the axtel basin. Happy Trails!
