While Cicero is an urban area, there are plenty of great camping options nearby. Blackwell Forest Preserve in DuPage County provides camping, fishing, and trails just west of Chicago. Camp Bullfrog Lake in the Palos region offers a beautiful escape with canoeing and hiking. Kankakee River State Park, about an hour away, features scenic camping along the river with excellent fishing opportunities. For a further getaway, Starved Rock State Park provides breathtaking views, waterfalls, and a variety of campsites.

Dunewood Campground in Porter County is located just 15 min west of Michigan City, IN with an elevation of 624 feet. There are a total of 66 campsites including 13 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of April to the beginning of November. 53 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 26 and 99 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Prices start at $25.00 per night. Some amenities include shower, drinking water, restroom, trash dumpster, amphitheater, flush toilets.
