Site 78 is for handicapped. Cars drive on the road near and have to slow down due to speed bump. That means you constantly look at them as they draw attention. Especially big boat trailer trucks, and its often. Trash dumpsters are 5 min walk. You'll likely store trash in car or drive with car to dumpsters. Water faucet at every site. water access is good for site 78, but not a swimming spot. Get the sites that are closest to beach.Check is isn't at 4, call ahead to be sure. it starts at 1pm. They ask for everyones first names and car plates. No hikes.

site 122 is nice because it's kind of secluded which is awesome plus you get to see everybody around you but also had that privacy

Park hosts were nice. Some sites are right on top of each other. Ours was spacious and quiet. Some sites including ours hadn't been mowed in a long while, but the site immediately next to our had been recently mowed. The grass in our site was over 2 feet tall. No hot water in the bath house, and no soap dispenser in any bathroom in the park.

Dump station needs hose adapters so you can clean out black tank. Grass needs cut.
@JohnnyW5EDA1FE · Camped on May 22, 2025 at Campsite #146
No hook up at the dump station to clean out black tank. Grass is over grown. Been camping here for 20 years. This is the worst I have ever seen it.

Its a family tradition to camp here. I have been coming to these campsites for over 20 years.

Our site had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. Previous visitors left trash in the fire pit and there was dog poo all over the camping area.

We had a wonderful stay at Sweetwater Campground! The two ladies at the check-in station (a married couple) were incredibly friendly and professional. They greeted us with a warm welcome and made the check-in process smooth and enjoyable.We really appreciated the routine patrols by the park attendants, which helped maintain a safe and peaceful atmosphere. The comfort stations were very clean, and the staff throughout the campground were all extremely helpful and kind.One improvement wed recommend is that the gate lock times and emergency procedures be clearly explained at check-in. This important information wasnt discussed, and it could help avoid confusion or safety concerns for campers arriving late or in need of assistance after hours.Our biggest complaint was the lack of proper water hose adapters at the dump station. Other nearby Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds offer hoses that connect directly to a campers black tank flush system to help loosen debris. Sweetwater did not have this option, which made the dumping process more difficult than it needed to be. Adding this simple feature would greatly improve the experience for campers.Overall, Sweetwater is a beautiful, well-maintained campground with friendly staff and great amenities. With just a few small updates, it could easily become one of the top camping destinations in the area.

Attendants were all very nice and helpful. We had a great trip , despite the rain. The only negative was the grass needed cutting, and they are letting the tree line and access to the lake, encroaching closer and unaccessible to water.We did not go to beach or bathrooms so can not speak to those.But the dump station water nozzles were cut off not allowing to flush tanks. Very inconvenient .We will be back.

Really good place to disconnect. Only thing I would change is the check-in and out times.

The camp site was beautiful with plenty of friendly people to talk with while still keeping plenty of time for relaxation with the family. We will definitely be back here and recommend it to anyone who wants a great camping experience!

Site did not work for our camper due to steps. In order to reach the utilities we had to be in a spot where our steps interfered with the site steps making it dangerous for us as older people. We stayed one night of our 7 booked and had to leave.

Beautiful campground. Very friendly gate staff. Bathrooms were yuck and very far away. Maybe a little bleach and a power wash would make them better.

Got a great site with more than average room around it, no neighbors for 5 days. Met some nice other campers, dogs played together. Lots of friendly people. The lake traffic was quieter than usual and the bathrooms were cleaner.Note: staff tries to keep the bathrooms clean but neighborhood kids have been known to hop the fence, get in there, and do mischief.Two really friendly hosts checked us in. They looked like maybe they were sisters and had interesting African names. That sort of greeting sets a great mood for the stay.

Sweetwater campground is a great camping spot. Our site was is a quiet bay, we were able to pull the boat right up to our site. It wasnt A steep bank, but included steps down to the water. We also were able to kayak around the shoreline because there wasnt a lot of boat traffic. It was quiet and the campsites were not bunched together, but spaced nicely apart. We had a great time and would camp there again in the future.

We loved Sweetwater Campground! The location is awesome - close access to Atlanta plus other area attractions, like Amicalola Falls. We went to a Braves game - fun! Paddled the lake over to JD's BBQ on the Lake - fun spot to hang out. The campground was clean and most sites are huge and many are waterfront. Normally we drive around and pick out our favorite site for the future. In this case, we were hard-pressed to find many sites we wouldn't want to use. Definitely on our list to come back!

We lived across the water in Bridgemill for 9 years and never knew that this gem existed! Beautiful lakefront and lakeview level campsites.

Our first experience with Sweetwater was excellent. We only stayed for one night, on Labor Day. The park was closing the n Ct day or we would have stayed longer. It was quiet, I suspect unusually due to timing. We had beautiful views of the lake and enjoyed the walk around the park.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
