Beautiful campground. Very friendly gate staff. Bathrooms were yuck and very far away. Maybe a little bleach and a power wash would make them better.

Got a great site with more than average room around it, no neighbors for 5 days. Met some nice other campers, dogs played together. Lots of friendly people. The lake traffic was quieter than usual and the bathrooms were cleaner.Note: staff tries to keep the bathrooms clean but neighborhood kids have been known to hop the fence, get in there, and do mischief.Two really friendly hosts checked us in. They looked like maybe they were sisters and had interesting African names. That sort of greeting sets a great mood for the stay.

Sweetwater campground is a great camping spot. Our site was is a quiet bay, we were able to pull the boat right up to our site. It wasnt A steep bank, but included steps down to the water. We also were able to kayak around the shoreline because there wasnt a lot of boat traffic. It was quiet and the campsites were not bunched together, but spaced nicely apart. We had a great time and would camp there again in the future.

We loved Sweetwater Campground! The location is awesome - close access to Atlanta plus other area attractions, like Amicalola Falls. We went to a Braves game - fun! Paddled the lake over to JD's BBQ on the Lake - fun spot to hang out. The campground was clean and most sites are huge and many are waterfront. Normally we drive around and pick out our favorite site for the future. In this case, we were hard-pressed to find many sites we wouldn't want to use. Definitely on our list to come back!

We lived across the water in Bridgemill for 9 years and never knew that this gem existed! Beautiful lakefront and lakeview level campsites.

Our first experience with Sweetwater was excellent. We only stayed for one night, on Labor Day. The park was closing the n Ct day or we would have stayed longer. It was quiet, I suspect unusually due to timing. We had beautiful views of the lake and enjoyed the walk around the park.

Park ranger came around on day 2 - told the kids she was out of cards. She promised she would be around later that evening and give them each 2. She never came back. The next day we had a different park ranger and he claimed he was out of cards and didn't really care about interacting with the kids.. bathrooms are absolutely disgusting!

This was my sister and I's first time camping and we felt so spoiled with this site, the view of the water and surrounding woods are absolutely gorgeous! Ended up having no neighbors in our loop at all so it was very secluded. Only rating 4 stars due to the fact that the bathrooms were too far to walk and BE WARNED, there was a small hive of bees living in one of the railroad ties leading down to the water. We only found out because my sister disturbed them by using it as a surface to hack apart a branch for firewood and got swarmed lmao. Though they left us alone for the rest of the trip. Also, a raccoon stole our hot dog buns on the first night right in front of our noses.

Excellent family friendly camping

Checking in was a breeze. There were no signs for which turn to take to get to beach or playground. Water at beach area was clean. There was a large shallow space before it got deep, great for the kids. Campsite was easy to find level enough it didnt take much to get set up. The site was spacious and roomy. Some spills were left behind from previous guest so we were met with many, many flies and yellow jackets.

Campground is always well taken care of. The grass is freshly cut. Access to the lake from the campsite could have been a little better. We had to go to the site next to us to access the lake.

We love Sweetwater Campground! It is close to home and such a nice get away for us! Our last visit was at site 43 right on the waters of Lake Allatoona. This is one of the ideal sites if you have a small boat because you can anchor right at the site. The campground is a nice area to walk around the campground for exercise. The beach area is nice and relaxing. We highly recommend Sweetwater Campground for camping.

We love camping at Sweetwater campground. It is a beautiful campground,but, I have noticed latly that people just don't care about it like they should. I rode thru the campground and noticed a lot of trash left in the firepits as well as on the ground. The grass is not maintained as well as it has been in the past. And the bath houses aren't cleaned as often as they should be.

I have been camping at Sweetwater for several years and always found the campground well taken care of until my most recent visit. The COE has recently decided to only cut the grass once a month, and has failed to remove numerous logs and debris washed up into the campground. General maintenance has been cut so much that campers are bringing their own rakes, string trimmers, and even mowers to trim around their campsites. In my opinion, the campground has started looking overgrown and unappealing.The COE recently also changed the check-out time from 3:00 pm to 11:00 am, and none of the campers I spoke with were happy with this change.Unfortunately I will not be returning to Sweetwater campground until the COE reinstates the maintenance that made camping such a pleasure at this location.

Wonderful setting surrounded by nature. Grounds well cared for. Great campsite for the money.

You will drive through a neighborhood to reach this campground. Please be mindful of the narrow, busy road. Once there, hosts were great, provided useful info on getting into the site and were cordial throughout our visit.

What has happened to this campground. we were here last year and it was kept up beautifully. This year it was so rundown. Bathhouses were a disaster... Filthy...Campground was so unkept....Poison ivy and poison oak everywhere. Not a single camp host came around to check anything. Campsites were a mess on arrival. A few mowers came around but did the absolute minimum of work. Sad to say we wont return to Sweetwater campground again.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
