The campsite was lovely despite being next to the pit toilet (there are a lot of different paths folks can take to get to it so you dont feel like they are constantly walking past you). And bring bug spray, lots of mosquitos in the summer.HOWEVER both our site and our neighbor were "given away by the ranger/camphost" idk if what those people who tried to take our site said is true since we never met the camphost/ranger but both us and our neighbors were present the night before, we were sleeping in our cars so no tents were visible, but we left stuff on our table to show we were going to come back. After spending half a day at Sparks lake and returning, our stuff was gone and someone had tried to claim our site with a camping chair. When they returned they told us the ranger had said nobody showed up and given them the site. Idk if thats true and if they were just trying their luck or not but that soured our evening as we both had things gone missing (long dog leash, our dog's food bowl, and a towel) and had to deal with having an awkward conversation with folks. The sites are clearly labeled as Reserved and with our last name on the site post. Whats up with that! Stop stealing peoples things and campsites! And if its true the ranger/camphost was there I don't think you are able to give away a site just because there isnt a tent visible, plenty of people car camp.Note to self and others not tent camping: bring some paper, write a note you were there (address it to the camphost as i think people are less likely to throw that away), leave things someone is unlikely to want to steal/move, and hope for the best!we all love nature right? lets respect the earth and one another. we are all more similar and alike, than different. be kind.

The location is beautiful. Small campground so at night very peaceful. If you book here- be aware there are a lot of people using the park for day use. Campers next to us had a couple items stolen. We booked 2 nights. When we returned from our hike for second night, another camper had been told by ranger our site was open and he paid for the site for the night. So now we both had paid for same night. No one is available at forestry office to answer questions. Fortunately we are all nice honest campers out here and we shared the sight- from other reviews I have read this happens. Just be aware if you book here, you may come back to have to share your site.

I see where some work has been done in this little camp ground. I hope that more of the logs fallen in site 4&5 will be removed or used to replace rotting logs that outline the drive areas. Cheers, Robin HOlm

Great campground, relaxing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing... I come every year and will keep coming.

Some much needed improvements to camp site #5 have been done and I appreciate the work. There are still several logs on the ground that should be taken away or used to replace the rotting log that designate the camp side driveway. I did leave a day early as the mosquitoes were equal to the ones I lived with in Alaska for so many years. There was still some snow around the camp site - hence the bugs. I return on the 14th and I am hoping the snow and bugs will be gone. Cheers, Robin Holm

This campground is absolutely beautiful! Take advantage of the primitive setting but be sure to bring bug spray!

The campground location is great if you are planning on hiking South Sisters.

On Aug 22 I reserved a campsite for the following week, Wednesday Aug 28. When we arrived on the evening of the 28th, there was a trailer in our reserved site, #5. I looked on the sign post which has a whiteboard with the reservations, and it showed the campsite was reserved for every other night that week, except Wed/Thurs nights. The campground attendant had not "reserved" our site, so someone had claimed it as a walk-up, and paid $40 for Wed/Thurs nights. We were going to try to explain the situation to the people in our site, but they weren't around. We were frustrated, but fortunately there was one campsite still open, #3. We were suspicious that like #5, site 3 showed every night reserved except Wednesday night, but we were out of options so we took site 3, which wasn't as nice as the site we reserved. At 10:15 pm a camper van drove into the campground and paused at our site, trying to read the number/reservation board. Turns out they had reserved it online, and we explained that the same thing happened to us but now there were no campsites left. They ended up parking in a pullout. The next morning when someone arrived to put up the new reservations signs we told him what happened, and he was full of excuses, saying that when there is a last minute cancelation and someone grabs it up, they don't update the boards every day. But I reserved the site a week ahead. He was stressed because someone had reserved site 5 for Thursday night too, but the people already in #5 had paid for 2 nights. So someone else was going to be screwed too. He even said "hey at least you got a site!" but I reminded him that I paid $8 for a reservation that wasn't honored, and the people who reserved #3 didn't get a site. The reservation boards aren't updated more than once a week, and there is no camp host. So the $8 reservation fee is bullshit, it doesn't guarantee you a site.

Reserved spot 7 which was described as 70 feet on recreation.gov; arrived and parked in spot 7 designated by placard; angry neighbor said we were in his spot (6); turns out we were in 6 which was described as 18 feet. Descriptions were obviously mixed on website and someone switched placards. No way we could fit our 26 foot trailer in #6: Camp host was amazing and solved the issue and didnt make us move. Nice open campground with beautiful views.

nice facility but bathrooms are mediocre no showers

beautiful area and amazing hikes just a short drive away. campsite was decent, with a pit toilet that couldve been worse. bugs were out bad, and fire restriction was in place so outdoor activities after dusk were pretty much out of the question. thought i totally understand that most of these factors are out of the park services control, and overall it was a great experience.

There really needs to be some better control over camp fires. Kids playing with the camp fire unattended seeing how large they can make it was par for this stay. The smoke on still days was quite bothersome.

An excellent campground, close to everything you are looking to do. It is in a beautiful setting with views of the mountains you may be tackling. It's a dry camp, so bring lots of water. Bathroom was one of the cleanest I've come across. When we were there no campfires were allowed which made the mornings and nights chilly. I will definitely be going back.
@RannaB3531315 · Camped on Jul 25, 2022 at Campsite #5
Site was covered in fine dust, had to park several feet away from table/camp area to avoid sun. Boat ramp 2 miles away, too hot to hike. This would be a great campsite in cooler weather when hiking is more enjoyable.

One of our favorite campgrounds. Quiet, and in a beautiful setting. Only downside is no water.
@ChrisW1509692 · Camped on Jul 17, 2022 at Campsite #2
Facilities were primitive but nice. The stream had moved away from the camp since we last visited 2 years ago, but that’s nature for you. The meadow is still wonderful to walk in and you will never see more stars at night anywhere in Oregon. It is a great place for astrophotography.

Nice location for views and to get to the lakes, and a nice private camp site, however the mosquitoes were super bad (July '22) and there was near-constant noise from being very close to the road.

Camp ground is in rough shape and very worn. Access road is in need of grading.

Pros: next to beautiful meadow/steam; great mountain views; close to trailheads; well spaced campsites.
Cons: fine volcanic dust; only one toilet, which is next to a campsite and could use a rebuild.

Nice campground but sites are VERY close together. No one else was near us during our stay so it was great. The huge meadow was amazing and we had fun following the creeks for hours. We didn’t check out facilities but they looked “rustic”. No camp host on site.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
