We were the only campers out of the 5 campsites, but it was a week night. Campsite 2 is private and has great spots for hammocks. It is quite an incline up to the campsite, which is a bit of a workout. Great overall experience and beautiful views!

We had our wedding here and it couldn't have been more perfect. Plenty of seating, the beautiful backdrop of the forest, and the towering boulders. The camp staff were so friendly and excited for us. We were a bit worried about parking since it was so limited, but we were able to work out a "shuttle" service with some of our guests parking up by the main road and a couple of vehicles circulating through the campground.

The Rose Canyon campsite is conveniently situated for a visit to Mt Lemon. Reception was friendly and well organised. Facilities are clean and the campsite neat. Lots of trees and shade for most plots. The lake close by is an attraction on its own. Be careful when you book. Some of the plots are difficult to access, even for small tent camping.

WAY too long of a drive straight uphill. Scenery was very good but sites too close to each other and lake unusable so not worth it to me.

The campground is nice, and the nights were cold and refreshing. I reserved 3 campsites. My friends could stay only for 2 nights, but the authority didn't allow me to release one night and get a refund. This is a big disappointment that there is a rule, made by campground management, that I should pay for 3 nights over a long weekend no matter what. So, our 2 campsites were empty for one night, it was impossible to release them for people in need. I hope this review will help to change the rule.Tatiana Shaternik.

Met with harsh verbal communication at the fee booth when checking in with camper shorter than 24ft, which was said to be allowed on recreation.org website. Hosts at the fee booth strongly accused me of being wrong. Even after showing proof of website, host then accused the website of being wrong. With all evidence of proper and correct booking of site, host still insisted that I will need to turn around and leave. After the initial shock of treatment and confusion, one other host walked up from driving a golf cart and was briefed on the issue, he said to just try it out. At Campsite #33, found that the camper would fit in parking area. Enjoyed the rest of the two days there without any problems. Just didnt appreciate the harsh communication from such a simple miscommunication.

This was my personal first time camping and I planned the trip for my boyfriends birthday. We took both of our dogs who had never been camping before either and chose this location because it is close to home and we were looking to escape the heat of Tucson for a few days. While the later afternoon did get fairly warm (80 degrees outside in mid/late May) the morning and evenings were a really nice temperature. We were a little disappointed to learn that a fire restriction went into effect the morning of our first day and that did put a small damper on our trip but sometimes these things cannot be helped and overall it was a pleasant experience. I can see how it would feel crowded if all campsite were filled because while we had no neighbors during the days of our stay if those sites had been occupied there would be very little privacy afforded us. The bathrooms were clean and the host as check in was lovely at both arrival and departure. We are likely to visit again down the road.

Served as a nice venue for my small wedding.

The only problem was we couldnt have a fire. And the parking so far away from our camp site

Loved the camp host Mike and Linnie. They were nice, kept us informed on fire restrictions, checked the sites regularly.

A ways away from parking and the bathroom which made for a more secluded feel.
@antoinett4292B · Camped on May 9, 2025 at Campsite #61
Perfect spot, away from the road but right next to parking and the bathroom. There's a little dirt path that winds from the site to the bathroom so you don't have to walk up and down the rocks if you don't want to. Bathroom is a vault toilet but wasn't too bad and was maintained. Both sets of hosts were very pleasant to talk to.

the spot should really be closer to level for RV use

We were there midweek and the campground was clean quiet and uncrowned. We saw deer in the evening and some wild turkeys.

The camp host greeter at the booth arriving at the site was very welcoming and very informative which was much appreciated. Our campsite was clean and we left it the same way. The restrooms were a little gross ... The fire pit was great. This was our first time camping here and probably won't be the last.

This was my first time taking my kids camping and it was the best experience possible. The campsite was the closest to the lake and the highest of 3 in the location. Check in was simple and they checked in on us shortly afterwards. Really great people. I will definitely be back and recommend this to anyone.

The place is clean and well mantained.

Please consider having hours for generator use in addition to the quiet hours of 10 pm - 6 am. I suggest generator hours 7:00am-9:00am and 4:00pm-6:00pm.Also, please consider making one of the RV spots accessible, with the parking area for the RV level side-to-side and asphalted up to picnic table for wheelchair and/or walker. I suggest #41.

We really enjoyed the quiet & seclusion of site 41. That site could be more level, though.

We had a perfect camping spot!! The camp host was nice enough to change our reservation to a spot adjacent to our initial reservation. We had a wonderful time.

The campground hosts do a great job! A non-weekend in early September at Rose Canyon was a great break from the city!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
