We really enjoyed this campground! There was potable water available at select bathrooms and there was one not too far from our camp site. The site was relatively shady throughout the day so that was nice. Bring lots of firewood with you if possible because it goes faster in a fire than you would think. We brought a Coleman roadie camp grill and that was very convenient for cooking without having to worry about a fire or charcoal. The picnic table was very helpful for playing cards and eating. I recommend bringing some camp chairs for around the fire. There is no cell coverage so download any maps you need prior to heading up the switchbacks. There are some lovely rock formations on the way up from Tucson, so be sure to pull off to check those out as there are plenty of pull off parking areas so you can safely check out the views along the way. We went to Summerhaven to have lunch at the Cookie Cabin and get some more supplies. The pizza was pricey but tasty and worth the trip. There is a general store there and they have firewood for sale and ice and other things you might need if you are camping. Ask at the register for the firewood.

Great location. Relatively quiet ... unless you are comparing to wilderness camping. The hosts were very knowledgeable and accommodating. The facilities were very clean. You are only a short drive to the top of Mt. Lemmon and a wide range of hiking trails. The walk to and around the lake was nice. Although there are bears in the area, we did not have any interactions. We did have a couple of skunks wander through in the evening, but as long as you don't scare them you should be good. (Do keep your tent zipped up as you don't want to get into a fight with a skunk over territory.)

The campsite itself was great. It was sunny and open, which allowed my van to charge my solar generator easily. I didnt use the reserved site, site 73, since I was camping with friends across the street in sites 69 and 70, but the location overall was very nice.Unfortunately, our experience was negatively affected by one of the camp hosts. We were chopping up a fallen tree in our camp area when he came over and told us we werent allowed to do that anywhere in the campground. This was disappointing since the Forest Service encourages campers to process fallen wood to help reduce fire hazards. Instead of following that guidance, the host told us we could purchase firewood bundles from the camp hosts.He also presented a set of rules that did not appear to be official Forest Service regulations, which stated that chopping wood in the campground was not allowed. Because of this, we had to drive out of the campground and up the mountain to find fallen trees, chop them there, and haul the wood all the way back to our site. It felt like the host was enforcing his own version of the rules, which created unnecessary work and frustration.The campground itself was wonderful, but the experience with this host really took away from what could have been a perfect trip.

I just got back from camping at Rose Canyon, and it was an awesome experience all around. The camp host and staff were friendly, helpful, and really kept the place in great shape. The campsites were clean, well-spaced, and had plenty of shade. Fishing was great nice size trout and a beautiful setting around the lake. The weather was perfect, and its just a great spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy the outdoors. Id definitely recommend Rose Canyon to anyone looking for a peaceful mountain camping trip.

Very nice campsite. The cool weather was a great relief from the summer heat down below the mountain. The lake was a nice fishing spot. We like the closeness to Summerhaven and Mt Lemmon restaurants. There were many hiking trails everywhere.

We had a wonderful time although we had thunder, lightening. And lots of rain.

We were in a camp site 63, which was excellent. Close to a restroom (but not too close), near a water spigot, and a short walk to the lake. The entire campground was peaceful and quiet, and the restrooms were very clean and well maintained. Camp hosts and people at the entry booth were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the clear night skies with many stars, walking around the small lake, and going into Summerhaven for lunch at Beyond Bread.

The camp hosts and staff were friendly and helpful. Other campers were loud, left messes in the bathrooms, and washed dishes at the water points. Despite a busy weekend, the camp store was not open during the posted hours.

Our morning at Rose Canyon Coronado National Forest began with a warm and welcoming greeting from the Check-in attendant. The attendant reviewed our Lizard Rock reservation, expectant number of guests, vehicles, and stated that he was available should we have any questions or issues during our stay. Other Park Forest staff stopped by to greet us throughout the day, which made our grandson's first birthday celebration very memorable.Thank you to all the Rose Canyon Coronado National Forest Staff.C. Very quiet & relaxing weekend! The spot was great, the bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen on Mt Lemmon, the trash was emptied regularly and the area was very well kept. It was a great all-around experience!

I bring off a group of elementary kids to this spot every summer during our Adventure Week Camp. It's the perfect spot to run and play, build forts and explore the mountain. The huge ramada gives plenty of shade and tables for our crew. We didn't use the grills but there are a bunch of them. We DID get to use the fire pit this year and had a roaring good time making S'mores. The staff at the entry were friendly and helpful, the bathrooms surprisingly decent and the grounds very clean.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
