Ive been here a few times, and I love this cute little campground. Unfortunately it was uncomfortably windy this trip.

This spot is a great way to catch a different beach view of the Golden Gate Bridge. We went during the week and there were very few other people. We were lucky to catch an early fog burn off and had sunshine most of the day.

Gate codes worked for both gates.

I enjoyed this campground soooo much due to only being 5 spacious campsites with an excellent view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The only hiccup is that you have to do multiple trips from the parking lot to the campsite with a large wagon. It took me about 5 trips to bring everything to the campsite which I considered my workout for the day. Overall; I would do this again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic campground. Weather is always dicey there, but regardless, a marvelous place to camp.

Stayed in Site 2 for two nights. No problems with insects. Had a raccoon visit right after dark. It came snooping around the tables and food locker even though we were just a few feet away. Fortunately, we did not have any food out and we chased it away. Foghorns started around 10 PM both nights. First night foghorns stopped at 5 AM, and second night foghorns stopped at 1 AM. Earplugs did not really help but noise canceling earbuds did help. Highlight was a 10 mile hike from the camp ground up to the Golden Gate Bridge, and then walked across the Golden Gate Bridge to SF, and then walked back.

Amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge. With the small number of campsite, feels like you are on your own private beach. Just make sure you bring enjoy water and a wagon makes the trek to the campsites more enjoyable. Wild deers and raccoons.

This was the best experience of my life. It was a long wait but well worth it. We brought a wagon to help transport our items. We would use our binoculars and look at the city as we sat on the beach. Im in love with this place.

I would recommend telling visitors to bring their own wagon to move camping gear from the car to the campsites. Kirby Cove does not provide wheel barrels or wagons.

What a ridiculously amazing time with high school friends I haven't seen in years. The view....OMG....AMAZING! The site, 001 was incredible. The lock was a bit sketchy to open but what a great time.

Its a very special place to camp, with wonderful views of San Francisco and the huge container ships passing through the golden gate straits.

The location is amazing with extravagant view of the Golden Gate bridge and the site is quite spacious as well.

Glorious and beautiful campsite. Weather was the worst! Cant control the fact that your bday starts on the first day of an atmospheric river!! Went to bbq but left when we deemed it unsafe. Love the spot though. Not my first, not my last!

Was a lovely place to camp. The pit toilets were well kept. The grounds were relatively clean and free from litter.

I stayed overnight as an easy bikepacking trip from SF and it was perfect. The sites are large with spaces for multiple tents if you have a crew. Each site has picnic tables, but the tables overlooking the beach are great for sipping a morning coffee while listening to the waves and taking it all in. The views of the bridge at sunset, night, and sunrise are gorgeous.

What a beautiful spot. I used to camp there with Girl Scouts in the 60s and loved it as much now as I did then.

The view at night was amazing!

Lower bathroom had both locks damaged. Smoother trails from parking area to camp sites would make transporting gear easier.

Kirby Cove is extremely beautiful. Its quite small and concealed well by the cove and steep decline from other parts of the park. My personal favorite part was the rocky, medium-grey-khaki sand on the beach, where you can watch boats go under the bridge. To camping: this is definitely a walk-in campground, but this site is decently close to the parking lot. I took two or three leisurely trips (I get winded easily) over an hour or so. There are several pads and a bear box in each site. Between the beach and campsite there is Battery Kirby, well worth a look at, and a pit toilet. The flies loved it in there, which was probably the worst thing about the whole trip. The night I stayed the neighboring sites apparently had a visit from a fearless raccoon (as mentioned by others before), but I was spared. One thing I wish I had thought more about: the fog dampening everything overnight does bring the temperature down quite a bit. Definitely advise a rainfly. Also, driving down from Conzelman Rd: only one side of the gate opens, so I would advise against bringing any vehicle down larger than an SUV.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
