Kirby Cove is a magical place. We had an issue trying to open the gate locks. It took awhile to get in. Other than that, it was a great experience.

Its a special place. Unfortunately the campers before us left their trash in our animal/bear box and that wasnt cleared out so we had to haul it up to the dumpsters.

This spot is a great way to catch a different beach view of the Golden Gate Bridge. We went during the week and there were very few other people. We were lucky to catch an early fog burn off and had sunshine most of the day.

Gate codes worked for both gates.

Very lovely, private spot, a heartbeat away from San Francisco.

Glorious and beautiful campsite. Weather was the worst! Cant control the fact that your bday starts on the first day of an atmospheric river!! Went to bbq but left when we deemed it unsafe. Love the spot though. Not my first, not my last!

What a beautiful spot. I used to camp there with Girl Scouts in the 60s and loved it as much now as I did then.

Bathrooms are a little far from the day use site, but it's a gorgeous view and worth the hike

Just an fyi. The directions to get there were not specific enough. And the golden gate park people had never heard of Kirby Cove when asked directions after passing the hard to find entrance. The place itself was amazing!

Had an amazing time, some initial trouble with entry and parking. Call ahead before coming if you have handicap family members or those who cannot walk small distances.

Driving down to the campsite once you entered the secured gated area was easy. We set up a tent and other supplies on the beach, which was about a 300m walk from the parking lot and an elevation difference of about 50m. The campgrounds provided wheelbarrows to haul supplies - which was a lifesaver. The walk and the climb would have made it a very unpleasant experience and would have been time-consuming. The beach views are gorgeous. We went midweek so there weren't many others around, which was nice.
